Is this thing on?

Is the method laid out in the original post still a viable method for Unrooting the Evo? If not what other steps do I need to be made aware of?

Ok. Here's one.

My speaker's blown out, so I have to return it. Now I used unrevoked on my device and am currently running CM7, or 2.3.

I downloaded the files on this thread [GUIDE] How to Unroot the EVO in 2 STEPS - xda-developers, but have not gone through with this yet.

Question is, do I need to be back on a 2.2 ROM for everything to work correctly?

I also have a backup of my OG Stock ROM on my SD Card. Would it be easier to just restore that?

Our RUUs won't work because, well, its an evo. However, you are in luck because I had to help a friend find a way for his Inspire.

Note: I didn't help with the process but I do have a link. That is all the help I can be. Might have better luck asking in the Inspire forum or the xda forum that I found it from.

Here is the link [GUIDE]Inspire 4G, Rooting, Flashing, Softbrick, Fixes, Sideloading.(4-23) - xda-developers and scroll down to miscellaneous. You will need the Ace Hack kit and the RUU is also provided.

Thanks for this guide, it worked great! I saw several other guides and videos showing other ways to unroot and this was by far the easiest and most helpful.

This may be a dumb question, but does this work to roll back from the 2.3.3 update?

i dont know. i was on 2.1. my phone bricked it didnt successfully unroot and roll back. i think its due to internal memeory leak. even thoough the software been reinstall on this phone, while browsing youtube site it often crash. so i guess the internal damage was the problem that lead the failure of the ruu package.

if anyone having problem you can go to "repair" sprint store and have them factory reset it and air update to 2.3.3 with no cost as long you play dumb and smart when wording them. now you going to ask how can you play smart and dumb that dosnt mix. IE: this is what i used; hello there was a pop up that say software update on my screen and i happen to click yes to update but then it stop working after that. i recently got my phone new a few months ago but i have a feeling the store gave me a used phone ( in case they find out the phone void its software warranty when its been modify, its it wasnt you who modify it but the previous owner). i read online stated that if the phone isnt insured the replacement would cost me 35 dollar within 1 year manufactor warranty. if thats the case, i dont mind the replacement. since its software issue its easy fix so you wont get charged

I tried this method via the bootloader - and got the version is older. I continually get the USB error when trying the RUU executable. I am running the OTA 2.3.3. I would like to know if anyone else go the RUU method to work using 2.3.3 and was able to root correctly afterwards. Everything i have read online says this isn't possible at the present time.

Any other thoughts or ideas from you guys? Cheers
