NOt working

I have tried all the RUUs on the link here and none of them work i get the same error when i run them . i have an Evo 4g with unrevoked forever.

first i could not get past step 5 since it said to hold the volume rocker up and press power, when it is volume rocker down, then i get to step 6 and go to run the RUU with the phone sitting at the skateboarding screen and get errors.

this is the error code i get with all of them

Error Code: -5001 : 0x80070002
Error Information:
>SetupNew\setup.cpp (142)
PAPP:
PVENDOR:
PGUID:

@Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 0 (7600)
IE Version: 8.0.7600.16385

Is there another way to return my phone to stock since this one is not working

Hello all,

I need some advice, I'm stuck on the step where you hold the up volume rocker and power button. I never get to a skateboarding screen, the phone vibrates three times and the charging light goes off.

Afterwards I try to run RUU but never get the computer to recognize the phone. I gotta do a battery pull to get the phone to start again.

I didnt use a one-click option to root, i went thru the steps to punch in the command line codes etc. but now I'd like to go back to stock for a while as I read more about rooting etc.

Anyway help/advice appreciated

@31794ty I used the instructions in the above link to successfully to unroot

Of course I re-rooted a few hours later using unrevoked, heh.

Another question hopefully someone will answer, unrelated. If you flash a custom ROM, then want to install a different ROM, do you just flash right over the first one, or do you need to somehow uninstall the custom ROM first?

I been trying forever to find an answer

Just flash over the existing ROM. Or download ROM Manager from the market place so that you can quickly load different ROMs.

Has anyone been able to return to stock after accepting the latest HBOOT version .97? Basically I updated to the latest release OTA from last week then decided to root with Unrevoked. Now I want to convert back to stock for a warranty issue (b-spot) and I can't seem to get the RUU to load as the HBOOT is a newer version. I've also tried the PC36IMG.zip method. No luck. Perhaps this will be resolved when there is an RUU for the 3.29.651.5 but in the meantime I can only flash rooted older or custom ROMs, no going back to stock.

You can use the first 2.2. root method to get root then flash down to 2.1 and run the official 2.2 RUU then do the OTA.

Check the post here: [GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G - xda-developers

So you would just follow all of those steps until where you see reboot bootloader, after it loads the PC36IMG file and you reboot you can run the 2.2 froyo RUU and then get the latest OTA.

Try this one Put it in the SD, go to HBOOT and let it load up. I just did this on two phones this weekend and it worked. One had the recent OTA and mine that didn't. It worked on both phones.
