[How To] Unroot and return to stock [RUU Method]

That means there was a problem during the root process. Permission denied means no root. Root means full permissions.

How did this get in the unroot thread?

Anyway... you stopped at step 12 right... then tried to flash a Rom but it didn't work... now you're trying to format your SD card? I read the past few posts but want to clarify....

If you are on step 12, you don't have to format your card, just delete those files you added by mounting the SD card to your pc... then you still need to utilize a root method... i/e simple root or unrevoked. Afterwards you'll need to do a android backup, once you're COMPLETELY rooted...

If you don't delete those files then the phone won't boot properly because you still have those files on the SD card, they affect the boot process if I'm not mistaken.

yes... this is all true. Initially I was trying to unroot because I thought I made a huge mistake.

Ive deleted the files, formatted the SD card. Rebooted both the phone and my pc. I dont think the Gods are going to let me root... I am on the 2.1update1, is it possible that I wont be able to root my phone and if so is there a way to update my phone back to 2.2? I checked for updates right now and it told me there was none?

this is what it says:

supersonic evt2-3 ship s-on
hboot-0.79.0000
microp-041f
touch panel- atmel03_16ac
radio-2.05.00.06.10

What I don't understand is it says failed to push so and so file but when I mount the phone as a disk drive and open it up the files are there....

i thought to unroot it and get hboot-on was just to put the original pc36img on but that didnt work my hboot is off and i cnt even go into recovery, and i want to reroot it and i cnt, any fixes?

I'm having issues with this... I have my phone connected and everything.. but htc sync says my phone is diconnected and in device manager there is nothing about my phone being connected.. I launch the RUU and it says it's inilizing.. it takes like 2-3 mins to come up with the first prompt. I click next next.. and its stuck at "verifying ingormation on your Android phone. please wait.."

then it says it fails.

I know you said that it took you 5 times.. but this is my 10th time trying.. is something wrong?

I have my phone connected and it's on the screen with the skatboarding androids...

help ?

I have to return my EVO to Sprint for replacement and followed all the instructions from the first post. The phone looks like it is back on stock rom and there is no super-user app listed. The HBoot screen still shows S-OFF...is that going to throw up a red flag at Sprint when I try to get my replacement?

Reason for replacement...the micro-usb port has become loose and it does not charge all the time.

Thanks for the help.

Did you use unrevoked forever?

And probably not, but it could be an easy fix so why not haha
