i have unrevoked 3 will this method work by installing the 3.70.651.1? i have hardware version 4 and it came orginally with 6.29.651.x

You're in the stock recovery. This is OK - what happened before your phone did this?
Have you tried rebooting?
This might sound stupid, but what the hell does "Stop at the skateboarding androids and proceed to step 6." mean? I get lost right there
I get an error 140 saying i got the wrong bootloader, i got hboot 0.93....
what to do? been trying for like 4 hours!!!

Just reboot, and then you can tell if you messed something up
I think theres a reboot option if you go into fastboot if it isnt in bootloader (i forget).
Ive read this over a couple times and my only question (not) so far would be, is there anywhere else to obtain the RUU??? The shipped ROMs servers SUCK.
Edit: Nevermind, I downloaded the RUU from the "Froyo early adopter scare" solution. Easier peasier.

I would recommend the following be added to the insturctions:
1) make sure you have Hboot drivers on your PC
2) If you used unrevoked forever, use the s-on tool before this process
2a) Install HTC Sync, but dont run it after it is installed.. you will run the RUU.exe file
3) when in h-boot, choose fast boot before running ruu (i got the USB connection error frequently, and like someone else, when I chose fast boot, it worked imediately)
4) better link to download RUU- http://goo-inside.me/evo/stock/RUU/
5) use the latest RUU
6) after the process is done, and the evo reboots, the green circle with an arrow is normal and means it worked.. dont panic
