How to: Update your rooted V9/VC baseband Optimus S to VD w/out losing all your data.

This is driving me insane!!

I'm trying to update my baseband, but LGMobile Support Tool keeps saying "The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update."

How would I go about fixing this?

Do you have a replacement refurbished phone? If so that could be your problem. I'm sorry but I can't recall what the solution is or what others have done but it will give you something to base a search on.

Ok, im a noob here. I am rooted on V9 running lego ROM and xionia kernel. I did the root with z4root I'm not familiar with with sdk tools with adb. Where do I get this and is there a tutorial or any other info
to familiarize myself with it. I really want to move to VD but don't feel comfortable quite yet.

ok i am a little confused on how i use the updated tool i did a nand. backup installed lg updater tool and that was supposed to update my radio but i did not see anything on my phone nor on my computer other than under device driver it changed to google something or another driver how to i actually run the updater??

Posting the same post twice is not going to get you any answers faster

Open the updater, make sure usb debugging is on. Menu, settings, applications, development. Plug the phone in to the pc and try to run the updater. You might need to install the correct drivers from lgs website.

Flash to a ROM that runs on you Actual current Baseband.. then use the update tool. Should recognize the baseband tbat way. Not 100% but it may work.. sorry havnt had coffee yet

The updater will run when you connect ur cell to the pc and you have the drivers installed.

So, you are trying to follow the 10 steps on the OP of this thread? If so, what step are you stuck on? And by the way, how did you root?

I continue to be impressed by the level of talent on these forums. I dropped off the radar after upgrading to a Thunderom in Feb'11. The upgrade process to VD is gump proof!!!

Slight hiccup with LG Updater but otherwise the new Rom + baseband run screaming fast!!!

The LG Software Update Tool link does not work. It isn't on the LG website anywhere. I've google searched it, but i'm afraid I won't download the correct version. Does anybody know a link that works to the correct version?

I am having some difficulty with this. I am on V9, and the LG update PC program keeps telling me I already have the latest version. I saw a few other members with this problem, but they all had refurbished phones. My phone was bought new. I have rooted, put the Xionia Clockwork recovery on, and have a NAND backup. I am still on the stock rom, and looking to update to Reborn.

One thing I did do, is back when I first got the phone, I kept getting nagged to update. There were posts on the forum saying that updating killed the hotspot widget. In order to stop the nagging, users reported that you could accept the update, then as soon as it started to do it, pull the battery. I did this method, and never got the nag again.

One last thing- If i click "update phone" in settings, about phone, it has the VC update downloaded and verified.

So, what is my course of action? Thanks in advance

For some reason it seems some refurb sprint phones have an ESN that is not flagged for a software update. As stated in the first post, if you visit this thread, it will have a solution for you!

My phone is definitely not refurbished. It is still safe to try that method though? If so I'll give it a shot and report back (after reading through that thread a bit)

I have a VC baseband and when i open up the LG updater, it says my phone is up to date and doesnt let me update to VD. Help please!?
