How to Voodoo ***Updated 27 Mar 2011***KERNEL BUILT FROM SOURCE/SOUND/UNDERVOLTED

I flashed sc 2.8 voodoo over sc 2.6 nonvoodoo, went to red cwm, and enabled lag fix. It said that lagfix would be enabled on next reboot, so I rebooted. When my phone restarted (which only took a minute, no robot talking either) I had sc 2.8, but still no voodoo. What am I missing?

i posted this in the superclean forum, but was told it may in fact be a voodoo issue and not an issue with the rom. since i upgraded from sc 2.6v to sc 2.8v and now to sc 2.9v, i have a constant vibrating issue (like when a program crashes). it happened on 2.8 and it's now continuing with 2.9. i also have half the programs working and half crashing. does anyone have any idea why the vibrating is happening and what i can do to stop it? thanks!

the vibrating is a sign of the apps crashing. thats normal. apps crashing is not. wipe cache and data in recovery. you will have to set up all your apps again but its that or you phone crashing all the time. its not a voodoo issue, but there you go.

There are TWO options under Voodoo in CWM Red Recovery to enable. Did you enable both?

thanks. i didn't think it was a voodoo issue either. i actually just restarted launcher pro and loaded a backed up version of it and it seems to have ceased the constant vibrating for a few minutes. the problem is i'm not 100% sure which programs it's trying to load and that keep crashing. i think i might need to wipe data (had just wiped cache and dalvik with the latest two updates) and start from scratch.

Did you read through this thread for an answer to your problem? Your answer can be found in my post # 285 on page 29.

missaye, I wasn't sure whether your problem was a voodoo problem or not, but with all the traffic going on at Adrynalyne's post and knowing Gunner's knowledge base I thought it best to send you here to his thread. I knew he would have a quick answer for you regardless of whether it was voodoo related or not. Sorry if it seemed I was being dismissive with you over in Adrynalyne's post, but it was done to get you the right help as quick as possible.

Ah, I didn't enable both of them. I wasn't sure if I needed to or not. (I know that changing one wrong option in cwm can be the kiss of death so I always err on the side of caution). Thanks! And landshark, sorry I didn't look through all of the posts. I clicked through the first few pages but didn't want to try digging through 33 pages!

It's ok. It wasn't quite the answer I was looking for and wasn't sure if it was voodoo or the rom, but I understand. Unfortunately, i wiped data, cleared cache and dalvik, reinstalled the rom and i'm still having the constant vibrating (some app not loading issue). any other suggestions? I realize this might not be the correct forum, but I understand why you sent me here and hopefully someone here can help.

I just had a thought on this. Did all of this start with 2.6 or 2.8 and is it happening all the time or only on reboot? There is a new feature in Froyo that restores all your apps automatically after a wipe. Hit the soft menu key then go settings=>privacy and see if automatic restore is checked. It just clicked in my memory that other people were having the same problem with this. Basically it is trying to download all your apps at one time. If there is a check mark after automatic restore, uncheck it.

Understood. Ha! 33 pages. Try searching for an answer in DroidXcon's or Adrynalyne's old superclean monster 250+ page threads. Fortunately both of them have done an awesome job of covering almost all issues in the first post of both their threads. If enabling both doesn't fix the problem try what I said in post #285. For some reason the EB16 kernel was not allowing people to enable lag fix, and the solution (which I got from xda, not my own original brainstorm so I take not credit for it just passing along information I remember reading) in that post has worked.

urgent question !

alright so i flashed this:
[RECOVERY] Updated ClockworkMod for ALL ROMs - xda-developers

via odin to my phone by putting the phone in download mode i believe or whatever the big triangle means haha

so i was looking at gunnermikes how to voodoo and i have the 2.9 sc rom from adrynalyne and from what i understand i can root and voodoo my phone by booting into recovery by holding the vol up & down and power buttons and then select the rom i put on the root of my sd card and choose it. well i downloaded the 2.9 sc with voodoo so do i still need to do the lagfix in this thread

http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...ks/55753-how-voodoo-updated-3-mar-2011-a.html

or is it as simple as flash cwm via odin and then boot into recovery and then select my voodoo rom and then reboot ? all help is appreciated thanks

You'll want to root, then push CWM, and then push a new kernel. The stock one over writes your recovery back to stock so it won't work if i'm not mistaken.

Flash CWM Red

Reboot into Recovery

Install SC2.9 Voodoo (includes Kernel and ROM)

Enable BOTH lag fix options in CWM Red Recovery

Reboot

Should hear womans android voice during boot while it converts your RFS file system over to EXT4

If you get to your boot animation and you feel the phone vibrate once then do a double vibe after that it is FC'ing and something went wrong

Please post your questions in the How To Voodoo thread in the future so as not to clutter up the forums. Also Urgent Request as a title is not helpful. A better title would be "questions about how to Voodoo" or something like that.....

Thx

**Edit**

As sheepdog pointed out yes be rooted first

ok does abyone want to help me out on rooting first because my phone went to blue cwm so maybe someone can tell me the best way too root and then is that right to use that cwm from xda or do i speciffically need cwm for voodoo ?

and when you said push cwm and then kernel wud i root then flash the cwm from xda via odin and then boot to recovery and then select my rom ? and then do the lag fixes and the cwm i flashed from xda brought me into blue

no he can just flash cwm all with odin,,,,then flash the voodoo rom, that will replace the stock kernel,, then enable lag fix...and done the rom is pre-rooted

Well Gunner may not agree with my advice, but I would say if you have that many questions and do not have a good grasp on the basics of rooting you may not be ready to make the jump to voodoo. The cwm you have is the right one, it works on both voodoo and nonvoodoo. Here is some good reading to give you the basics on rooting:
