How's the November Update So Far?

It's seldom that I leave my WH1000XM2 on for phone conversations, so that isn't really an issue for me. Comfort for extended listing periods seems to also be a major improvement reviewers talk about with the WH1000XM3. That would make it a worthwhile upgrade for me as I do listen to a lot of extended classical works.

And I did go from a Pixel 2 XL to a Pixel 3 XL and for me there was a very substantial difference in screen quality and a noticeable difference in overall response. I would definitely do the upgrade again!

Weight, headband and ear cup comfort are noticeable improvements for sure. The NC improvement is also readily apparent. I don't recommend the upgrade because the MX2 are still very very good. Probably the 2nd best on the market still. Given your use case, it does sound like it makes sense for you. USB-C will also be a nice addition for you, maybe reducing the types of charging cables you have to carry.

Just a note on battery for the MX3 -- China is a 12+ hour flight, plus time in the airport and car. My battery was still ~50% when I arrived at the hotel.

But one of the best ways to improve sound (both clarity and volume) is to lower the noise floor. Normally that meant dealing with distortion and signal to noise ratio in the audio chain. But lowering the ambient noise makes a difference as well. If you have to compete with ambient noise, you generally increase your volume to compensate. The more you increase the volume, the more distortion you introduce into the audio signal. So if they improved the noise cancelation tech, that should mean you might not have to push the volume as high as you would've on the older models.

You're right except the way Bose handles NC diminishes sound quality with NC active compared to others I've tried.
Anyway, we are now way off topic.

Well, we can't all choose when we get phone calls that we need to answer but we are way off the thread topic at this point.

I generally avoid Bose. One of our sayings at work used to be "No highs, no lows, must be Bose".

Got my P3 from Google ~10.18 but still has September security patch and no update notification. On VZW but i understand that ovember patch should come directly from Google. Am I the only one who has not been updated? There seems to be no way to manually update

I have noticed a small problem, since I installed the update my ambient display occasionally turns off. If I wake the phone and then turn off the display it seems to function fine for a while. So far it has happened twice.

I notice that on mine once but I think it's because I covered the proximity sensor

I don't know if it's the update or having my pixel 3 for a week yesterday, but my battery life is a huge improvement. Also noticed no BT issues (car, airpods) which I was having problems first few days. So I'd say it's great for me.

Sure their is. You go to: Settings>Security & location>Security update

They moved the update settings from the About Phone area to Security & Location. Why I don't know, but that's where it is. If you haven't gotten the update, go there and hit the check for update button and that should force the update.

I've had a serious issue since the update - it will no longer connect to my Logitech Bluetooth audio receiver that I used to connect my phone to a Bose radio at work. Day before? Fine. Day after? Nothing. I've tried forgetting the pairing and re-pairing and though it does re-pair, it still doesn't connect. Have had other BT flakiness since the update too like finding BT turned off (which it should never be since I keep it connected to several tracking devices).

Oh, of course it is there. Thank you!

I don't know if this is because of the update but I was in my car yesterday and when in the sun the screen would fade to black. it kept doing it til I took it out of the sun.

That's odd. The screen could get harder to to see untill the adaptive brightness goes to a hundred percent but it should never fade to black.
