How's your battery life?

Well I don't know how everyone here is getting such good battery life, I took mine off the charger at 7 this morning and about 5 hours later its now at 45%. While I guess I must be a heavy user my original Zenwatch was a lot better. This is just for notifications as I haven't had a reason to use voice or navigation today.

One of the biggest drains for me initially was 'wrist gestures'. This will cause the screen to wake up every time you move your arm. Today I took the phone off the charger at 6 am and was at 75% by noon.

I'm getting crazy good battery life.

But of course I turned a lot of stuff off though. I mainly just want to use my 360 for notifications and some "OK Google" stuff. I don't need the screen on for the time and I turned off wrist gestures. If I really need to see the time I can just tap the screen.

I turned it on at 100% this morning at 10am, and now at around 10:30pm I am at 93% battery left.

Now granted I was at work all day and did very little with it besides read incoming text and check my step count. But still, I am surprised on how little battery it used today.

What you describe is "tilt to wake", not "wrist gestures". Wrist gestures is a way to scroll the screen by flicking your wrist.

That is great battery life. I thought about trying to turn some things off to see if it helps but I don't really feel like I should have to. If I'm doing the same things with my new watch as with my old one I don't see why it should be so different. I know the LCD uses more energy but I'm getting no where as much as others on here. I'm wondering if I got a bad unit.

Swipe down from the top, the screen will read Notifications. The middle icon is for Priority, the left shuts off all notifications, and the right one allows all notifications. You can set up which ones are priority...or actually blocking app notifications...by going in the Settings in the Android Wear app> Block app notifications>tap and choose which ones you don't want to be notified. Hit the + sign then choose each app you want to block.
Oddly, if I set my watch to Priority notifications, it turns on Do Not Disturb on my phone. Change it to All notifications and DND turns off on my phone. So I guess I won't be using that "feature" unless I can figure out how to separate those two.

I am getting a solid day using it will all features. I also don't want to turn off things that I want. I take my watch off the charger at 6 and back on around 10 with 20% usually.

I changed my watch face to one that isn't as bright and detailed while being dimmed and that made a big difference in the overall battery life. Yesterday I went 15 hours and ended on over 20% battery with the screen always on. I did get plenty on notifications (50) during the day and checked my heart rate a dozen times while taking a spinning class. I have no doubt with the screen always on and not limiting my watch I can last well over 24 hours.

Well it looks like today is much better. Yesterday after 5 hours I was at 45%, but today after 8 I'm at 56%. Weird since I didn't change anything yet.

And to follow up with this- last night I turned off tilt to wake as a test (leaving screen on all the time still). Battery remaining after 12 hours off full charge is 62% (see previous postings for other settings).

I think I might leave it like this. The always on thing is fantastic when you have a properly configured and designed watchface. Then just touch the screen or button for full brightness and functionality (sweep hand, etc).

I just got a new 2nd Gen and yesterday was my first full day with it. I didn't do all that much and it went from 100% to 5% in 12 hours. At the 5% mark it switched off the screen from ambient mode and about an hour later I got it on the charger with 3%. I was pretty disappointed with that but will see if today is similar. Anything in particular I should check? I definitely need it to last my normal day which would be about 15-16 hours off the charger.d check? I definitely need it to last my normal day which would be about 15-16 hours off the charger.

I posted this in the other forum and realized there is this one for the new version. I'll go through this thread and look for tips. The above experience was leaving everything exactly as it came and not touching any settings.

Which face did you leave from and which did you go to. I'm wondering if this is my issue as I'm very unimpressed with the battery life after the first day.

Where is the tilt to wake setting? I see wrist gestures in the watch settings but I don't see tilt-to-wake. Thanks.

The top left Citizens Face gave me the worse battery life but while dimmed it was still fairly bright and still looked very good IMO. The top right Digital one gives me better battery life but only shows the digital time and date while dimmed. Yesterday I was outside and it was very difficult to see the Digital dimmed face.

I believe the other post you quoted was referring to the gestures since that's the only setting I know of.

Tilt to wake is found in the Android Wear app on your phone. On the main app screen click the settings icon near the upper right. Then select Moto 360 at the top of the screen. You will see an on/off switch for tilt to wake as well as some other features.

Not very intuitive as they put some settings on the watch and some settings on the phone app.

Well my battery life was horrible the first few days but yesterday was a lot better so I'm hoping today will be too. Maybe it just takes some time to work itself out.

Well looks like I spoke too soon after 4 hours today I'm at 56%. Annoying.

Do a restart and change your watch face to a default one to compare. I did this and found that the watch face was the issue.

Go into Android Wear on your phone then settings (top right) > Moto 360 > Watch Battery > then look at what's eating your battery. I just restarted mine an hour ago so it's only showing the screen using 3%.

I don't quite understand the Watch battery screen. Mine has used 35% so far but the only things listed are screen at 4%, idle at 3% and Moto Body, the Android icon and Android OS all at 1%. Does this mean that the other 25% are all apps not listed at 1% each? Not really easy to figure out what is using up my battery. Today I switched off Tilt to Wake and my battery is much better but I don't like the functionality as much. I want to see how it goes all day and tomorrow will turn that back on and see how it goes.
