Got the phone last night. All around great experience. So far, battery has been good and I really like the camera. The lack of bloatware is amazing! I may actually sell my 6s and keep this sucker. I'll give it a couple of weeks.

Finally received mine today. Granted, I have just now finished loading and updating all software, but wow does it run hot. I hope that stabilizes in the coming days but I can honestly say I have never felt a phone in its initial setup process get this warm. Just a few early thoughts:

-Screen does look nice, not as worried about it as I thought I would be. Slight pink hue, perhaps that goes away with time or my eyes adjust.
-No problem with my Ray-Ban polarized sunglasses, non-prescription. I was very afraid about what people were saying about the polarization but I can see my screen fine with them on.
-Buttons are very strong. In fact, maybe too strong? At least there will be no accidental button mashing going on here.
-Fingerprint reader is great and much better than the one on the S7. 100% accuracy so far and fast. As good as the Nexus 6p imo, just in a different location of course.

QuickPic is a decent option
Read this one was good, and almost got it, but read they got bought by one of those devs that makes 1000+ useless apps filled with adds and spam. Is this the case?
Yes. Its why I elected to side step it.

I love QuickPic. It did get bought out, but there are no ads in the app (at least none that I notice). You can sort folder, create new ones, move pics between them, hide ones you don't want to see, etc. It's awesome.

I'm no superuser when it comes to phones (I think I've played one game in the past two years, and it was a simple Leisure Suit Larry game lol), but I do listen to a lot of music on it, and I gotta say there's something really special going on with that headphone jack. The sound quality is great. I especially noticed when I hooked it up to the AUX plug in the car. This is exactly what I wanted out of this phone. I cant say that I'm a fan of the new speaker setup though. It's not bad, but I definitely liked the front facing speaker setup better.

As for the rest of it, after a good weekend with it, I'm very happy I bought it. Everything's working well. The thing is gorgeous too, it pains me to put a case on it, but that's how it goes.

Now that I've had mine for a few days, here's my take (compared to my last phone, Moto Droid Turbo):

Not a fan of the blinking LED. I much prefer the Moto display of notifications, but I guess I will get used to it. (not interested in their Ice case)

I added different apps to the Sense Home dock for quick access to things like SMS, Camera and flashlight, since the motion activated features from Moto are now gone.

My biggest complaint is the phone's inability to recognize I am driving and read my incoming texts out loud. I know there are some apps available, but so far, I have tried a few and they just simply aren't as good as what Moto has.

Solid phone!!

I left HTC after three in a row for my Turbo, and am planning on pulling the trigger on the 10 (waiting a bit to see if VzW gets any other colors) because it's a superb phone, I really really like it, my phone is my music player and I want that hi-rez audio, and frankly I'm hoping they survive and am willing to express that hope with my pocketbook. However, you've touched on my biggest concern: how I'm going to find workarounds for missing Moto Actions. I don't use the text reading since my Jeep does that, but will seriously miss the camera twist, the flashlight chop, and, mostly, the lock-screen notifications.

All I get is a green light, blink, blink, blink...no idea what it's notifying me of. I saw someone comment that the FP sensor is so quick, there was no need for the "always on" feature (I can't recall the name Moto used), but I can say that's ridiculous. Unless you've used it, you will definitely miss it. (And despite silver being the only VZW option, I love the color!)

HTC builds their phones so the processor passes it's heat to copper tape, which transfers the heat directly to the metal back. This is intentional and does a great job of keeping the SOC cooler than other designs, but it can cause concern for some users that are not used to feeling the heat being shed through the back that way. If you have GSam battery monitor, it will tell you the actual internal temperature, which will be about 80 to 85 degrees F sitting on a desk, and up to 113 degrees in hard use like gaming or updates.

The sunglass issue depends on your sunglasses. Some of the better ones (like genuine Ray-Ban) are polarized slightly diagonal (left one way, right the other way). My $400 prescription sunglasses are fine as well. Now, I'm NOT saying that sunglasses that are polarized flat instead of having an angle are cheap, and I don't have a list of ones that are or are not. Just stating my very limited experience. Your mileage may vary ;)

Received my Carbon Gray HTC 10 on Friday.

Quick intro - I had the HTC One M7 for Verizon for almost 3 years, decided to skip the M8 and M9 because of negative reviews and personal preference. So this past November 2015 I bought the HTC One A9 despite the harsh criticism and to be honest I really liked it.

Seeing the fantastic reviews about the HTC 10, I didn't hesitate one bit to pre-order it. Upon receiving the device, I was able to transfer 95% of the content from the A9 over seamlessly. Everything about the device is great - it is super fast, display is sharp and crisp, the UI is smooth, etc.

However, there are some things that are really frustrating me right now and giving me second thoughts.

1.) LCD Panel: The LCD panel has a really bad viewing angle, giving it this pinkish, pale white hue. Anyone who uses the Twilight app or f.lux app will know what I'm talking about. After scoring some sites, I noted some reviewers mentioning this as well. I don't know if this is a defect or if this is meant to go away after a while. StilsonCanyon commented in the "Should you upgrade to the HTC 10 from the HTC One M9?" thread that "it is caused by a UV activated glue that is used to bond the screen and the LCD panel. I ran my 10 on full brightness in Vivid mode and the tint is no longer present (it's been 3 days)." I never had this problem on my M7 nor on the A9. Matter of fact, I really liked the A9's AMOLED display even though there are better AMOLEDs out there. Nonetheless, this is my biggest issue right now and it really bothers me when I look at the phone (from an angle) whilst sitting at my desk. I've tried tweaking the Vivid and sRBG settings and brightness but to no avail.

2.) Capacitive Button Placement - maybe I'm just really used to the A9's on-screen buttons but I find it difficult sometimes to accurately hit the capacitive buttons on the 10. They seem too low on the device and a little too precise to the touch (not enough range for error).

3.) Camera - I spent about 20 minutes yesterday with the camera and kept getting the "laser auto focus blocked" message. This was regardless of having the case on or off. Also, the camera had a difficult time focusing on close up objects and overall was not taking very good pictures.
Note - I updated the software today and hope that this addresses the camera issues

4.) WiFi connectivity issues - The 10 is having trouble holding a connection to my WiFi signal. The update today did help somewhat but not entirely.

5.) SD Card support - the 10 doesn't seem to support my SanDisk SD card and let me use it as internal storage (the A9 supported it and allowed me to use it as internal).

6.) BoomSound Speakers - absolutely loved the M7's BoomSound speakers and loathed the A9's single firing, it is a sheer toss-up here. It is sort of reminiscent of the M7's speakers but at the same time not quite.

7.) Heat issue - whilst using the camera and other apps, I noticed that the phone got very warm which I know is typical of metal phones but not something that I observed with the M7 or the A9 to this degree.

So these are just some of my griping issues and I hope there is some resolve to it. Otherwise I will have to return it for a replacement or go back to using the A9.

Please comment on what you think might help.

Thanks.

My Ray Bans are polarized and I can't see the screen at all in vertical orientation.
