HTC battery thread

so your saying

So, if the Seidio 1750mAh battery will fit a standard Sprint Hero (not to be confused with the 3500mAh they are developing that comes with a special "deep" backplate) and the standard 1500mAh Sprint Hero battery fits the Droid Eris -- then the Seidio 1750mAh Sprint Hero batter will fit the Droid Eris.

The 1750mAh battery is a 34.6% improvement over the stock 1300mAh battery. The Sprint 1500mAh battery is a 15.3% improvement over the 1300mAh battery.

Seems to me it might be worth getting the Seidio battery if you aren't lucky enough to get a free Sprint battery like ChevyDude.

Or, if we all submit requests to Seidio asking them to begin development on an Eris 1750mAh battery they may do so (I have done so already). They are already working on a Moto Droid battery.

Link, in case you forgot it: seidioonline.com

so theres no problem with adding a different battery and it fits perfectly? no battery door problems?

i would love to order the 1750mAh battery. someone please tell me if this fits in the eris. what we have is not good. if i didn't have a charger on my desk, i would never make it through the day.

I feel like I've done everything to spare my battery as much as possible and yet I only get ~7hrs of standby. I've turned off GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and Data synchronization. I refuse to touch my phone for anything other than 1 or 2 short, necessary phone calls per day. I've downloaded Advanced App Killer and routinely kill all apps. I've done the HTC Hero SMS fix. And yet, my awake time is consistently 100% of my up time. Always. I went to the Verizon store, they were no help - gave me a new battery even after I told them the battery was not the issue, it's the software. Am I missing something that the thousands of new Eris owners know that I don't? Or is everyone simply okay with 7hrs of standby time even when it's advertised at several days?

Do yourself a favor and keep a charger with you. I keep a usb cable at work. I have to end up using it everyday.

I signed up the other day to post this for you guys, but in my experience there were 2 apps causing me to have 100% awake time - the standard Mail application and Youmail application. I stopped using the standard Mail, uninstalled Youmail and began using K-9 Mail as my IMAP e-mail client. I worked from home last week, and was getting about 8 hours with HEAVY usage. Phone calls every 20 minutes, web browsing and lots of texts and e-mail. Today is my first day back in the office, and I am interested to see how long it lasts without me using it every 5 minutes. Try those tips out and see if it helps, also you have to delete the account in the Mail application to make it stop working. Also to note, my awake time went from 100% to 18-35% varying. And I never had any issues with the standard Messages application.

my battery life is amazing...
i come from winmo so im always trying so high powered apps.
it goes an entire day easy.
bout time im home its at 40-50%
the thing is, it takes an ETERNITY to die from there.
i had to turn on the metal detector app and leave it next to my keys for 30mins constantly vibrating to kill it!
i had wifi, BT, youtube, pandora a bunch of stuff open at once trying to get it to die.
it took 2 hours until i did the metal detector thing.
battery is NICE!

Wish I could, but my job doesn't really afford me the ability to stay in one spot and wait for my phone to charge.

Thanks, funkdoctor. I had both of those apps and after I got rid of them I'm starting to see some better awake time numbers. Let's see if that translates to a longer battery life - hopefully, it should. It's too bad though, I loved Youmail's app.

So far, I took the phone off the charger at 5:30 AM,its now 1:30 PM and I have 69 percent battery life. So, I think the phone will last me through the whole day as long as I am not using it HEAVILY. Like I said, last week I was working from home, making 20 -30 calls per day, as well as texting and going to a lot of web pages - what I would consider very heavy usage for a cell phone. This would require me to charge the Eris 2x a day. I am coming from a Blackberry Curve and would get about a day maybe day and a half of moderate usage, which seems to be about what im getting since disabling the Mail and Youmail applications.

seidio battery?

who has any knowledge on a better seidio battery for the eris?
-1500
-1750
-3500
any would be better than what we have. Any thoughts?

kind of scared of a bigger battery now...
from what i understand, over 1400 the risk comes into play.
you basically have a HTC c4 explosive device!
and the things i do on this phone, i can see me detonating it! :)

where did you hear that? the hero comes with 1500 standard and being basically the exact same phone what makes you think anything over 1400 becomes dangerous?

I was running the imagio's 1500 battery for a few days but wanted a bit more juice so ordered the 1750, should be here friday. will post results.

Does it really fit?? With no problems??

1500 from my imagio did no prob and this 1750 from seidio claims to be same size. So shouldn't be an issue. Will know soon though.

Official word from Seidio is that the 1750 is not designed for the Eris. Now that could just be them covering their butts, so yeah.. .I'm curious to see what you find too.

if the 1750 will fit the eris, then i say jump on it. that is my only gripe so far of the phone is the battery. if we put a bigger battery in it, will it void our warranty from verizon?

probably. also it could explode!

Yep. You'll have to really limit the circutry to get the battery cell hot enough to pop. Not saying it's impossible, but it isn't going to happen with a 1750 battery at +-5 volts. Maybe a car battery and a batch of resistors....hmmm....idea....lol

Hope that Sedio battery works out for ya. I'm thinking it will.

I have had the Eris since the day it was released and today was the first day the battery made it through the whole day with out needing to be charged half way through the day.The thing that worked for me was turning off the " Enable Always on Mobile" when this feature is turned on the Eris keeps a constant link to 3G even when the phone is locked and not in use. Today with this turned off I unplugged my phone at 6:30 am and used my phone just like usual (texts, calls, email, IM) and currently it still has 50% battery left and it is 8:00 pm. Everything seems to work exactly the same with this turned off as it does with this turned on, Gmail still had instant sync so did google talk, calendar, google voice, facebook, twitter, weather and texts. The only difference is that when my phone is locked it is no longer on the internet, all the programs that need to update and log in on a regular basis will turn on the 3G do their update and then turn the 3G off. when you unlock the phone to use it the 3G turns in and works just like normal.

Settings---wireless controls---mobile network settings---enable always-on mobile--
