HTC battery thread

I have to say that the battery on the eris killed it for me. I loved the phone and tried so hard to stick with it, especially since I was not crazy about the droid... but the battery was so bad that I was afraid to use it for fear of it dying before I made it home.

So I got the droid. I unplugged it at 645am this morning and used it more than I ever used the blackberry pearl I used to have. It's now 1216am (long day) and I'm on 20%--we're talking after gps on all day, showing off internet and actually using it, significant phone use, and sporadically using google talk throughout the day. The battery life, early adoption of 2.0 and the keyboard (you do get used to it, I'm using it right now) are all worth it. Miss native pdf support and pinch zoom, sure, but those are all fixable in updates, hardware is not.

First battery charge

I'm trying to be good with my new Eris, and am charging the battery before turning it on for the first time. It's been charging for 12 hours now, and the indicator light is still amber. I would have guessed it would be green by now. Anyone run into this, or have any thoughts?

I would probably turn it on and use it for a bit and then try charging it. You will not be hurting anything if you do.

12 hours seems excessive. My first charge was about 3 hours. Subsequent charges have been 1-2 at most.

I'd reseat the cable and let it go again. I also don't think it will hurt to use it. Turn it on and see what the battery level is in settings.

Thanks for the replies. When I unplugged it and plugged it back in, the LED was suddenly green. And when I turned it on, the charge was full. Seems like all is well, and the amber light was some meaningless glitch.

Try charging it from another source (a different USB power brick and/or PC) to see if your power brick is faulty. I just got back from a business trip and rather than take the power brick that came with my Droid, I grabbed a third-party brick out of my drawer. It wouldn't charge my Droid (Droid wouldn't recognize it) but powered my work Blackberry just fine. I ended up charging the Droid from my laptop.

Glad things worked out for you OK.

I agree with Equus, You must let the battery do a full drain and charge. I get a full days worth of charge with apps running.

jcharris08 - did the Imagio battery work well for you?

Same cover fits sides don't snap in fully. Use a case though so non issue for me. And its from seidio technically made for hero and tp2 though.

could u give us some preliminary stats?
also how much does it cost?
is your phone getting hot??

Six hours moderate use (awake time 30%) and battery at 75%. They claim it'll get better after a few cycles this is day 2 for me. Phones not hot but I use a case similiar to an iskin. Battery was 50 and imagio battery wouldn't snap on sides same as 1750.

if the case wont snap on the sides how does the battery stay in? your results are for the 1750 right?

It snaps at top and bottom just won't snap fully on sides. And again I use a case I've said this multiple times.

I am amazed! The phone lasted from 8:20pm to 7:08pm! This is with moderate use. I am running FB (all day), Last.fm (2 hrs), calls (almost an hour), a few games of Sudoku, some pics of the my kids, etc... I am very pleased with the phone now knowing that I can get a full days worth out of it!

Before I forget I do close my apps with TaskKiller. I do notice now that if you install the Last.fm app and you power your phone on the app automatically runs in the background. Just a FYI!
