Well it kind of is. Let's be honest, as an OEM, going up against a company that literally makes up over 20% of the entire south korean economy puts you at a bit of a disadvantage resource wise, especially do in beans recognition and marketing. Samsung is what the people know, they timed it just right and ended up being the standard bearer for android, and they shall probably remain as such.

To the mainstream user, sure, but I see great value in what Samsung offers.

Their stable of premium content included with the gs5,which includes 50gb Dropbox for 2 years, alone provides more value to me than what HTC is offering, not to mention their software improvements and other premium additions

Download speed booster, New power saving options, multiple apps on one screen, etc, because touch wiz brings it. What does HTC offer? Blink feed? As I said, I see all more useful stuff on Samsung end. Not to diss HTC, but just saying that as a consumer, they aren't doing enough to make me consider them

I find BlinkFeed really appealing. I'm opening Twitter and Instagram separately throughout the day. Having both feeds in one place makes a lot of sense. I tried Flipboard and it just didn't appeal to me as a UI. I was using an app recently called Scope that provided me both feeds but it was slow and stopped working all of a sudden. Then I noticed the app is no longer available in the Play store.

With respect to Samsung vs. HTC, I do feel marketing is the biggest reason for Samsung's success. Their TV ads attacking Apple were brilliant. That combined with an overwhelming print/billboard campaign. That point can't be stressed enough. Everywhere I look I feel I can't escape looking at a Galaxy ad. Let's also point out that Samsung has had strong brand recognition for many years now. HTC is more of an unknown whereas most consumers have experience with a Samsung device that isn't a phone. If you have a positive experience with a Samsung TV for example you might be more inclined to purchase one of their phones.

In American, HTC has shot itself in the foot with their marketing. They certainly can't touch Samsung's budget in the same categories but at least give me a reason to recognize your phones. I barely remember any HTC TV ads in the past few years. They barely market away from TV and when they do it's pretty generic. I can't remember catching one RDJ ad on TV ever. That's not good. And please don't blame the carriers. I walked into AT&T last year when the One was released and they had a huge island-like setup just for the phone.

Saying that the issue is the lack of SD card slot or removable battery is not going to hold weight with me. Apple sells a ridiculous amount of iPhone's and it features neither.

I'm big on the M8 (well aside from the fact that it's far too heavy IMO) but if it did poorly in sales last year why should things be different this year? In America, offering the M8 on day one at all 4 major carriers is a good start. But I think they will need an aggressive and memorable marketing campaign to turn things around here this year.

Yea I don't get the sd card complaints either. Floorboard and blink feed both are useless, blink feed more so because it's not cross device

Don't you always have your phone with you though?

Most of the time I do. But it's not always convenient to use. For example, if I'm in class, I'll use my computer to access feedly.com, rather than use it on my sub 5 inch device. At home, I use my larger screen ipad. All other times I use it on my phone. So it's very convenient that I can access one account that has all my feeds, rather than having to make an account for a different service and try and find all my feeds.

Also, from my knowledge isn't blink feed only accessible while using their stock launcher?

It's basically the same reason why I use cloud magic for my email. I use one cloud magic account that works across all my devices, and when I log in, all my email accounts are already signed in, because I signed in to my cloud magic account.

I always have my phone by my side so personally it's a non issue if I can't use BlinkFeed on my iPad and I don't want or need it on a computer. Obviously it would be great if such an equivalent were available for iOS.

I just googled 'Nova + BlinkFeed' and it appears very simple to add BlinkFeed while using Nova. I don't know if that's the case with other launchers.

Being that I have 3 devices and a computer, it's best that I can have all my feeds on all my devices with one account

And that's why you buy a phone based on what suits you best. Just because HTC offers something you think is useless, doesn't mean that it is to everyone else.

I owned the S4 last year for about a month and I didn't like anything about it, except for the camera. IMO, the HTC One was a better device than the S4. But that's what I think. I'm not going to tell someone that the HTC is the better phone, because it's about what suits you.

Also, have you owned the HTC One?

Ios has the feedly app, that one account works no matter what device I pick up

No I haven't, because they don't have any software that catches my eye. And you don't have to own a phone to judge it.

I don't think I said that HTC was or wasn't the better phone, I just said it has nothing to offer me, and it also doesn't latch on to the mainstream consumer because of it. What exactly can they show off in a commercial outside of their camera features? At least Samsung has enough to show off to make you want to research it some

I wonder how much of the increase in weight can be attributed to either the new camera module or the improvements to the BoomSound technology.

Hopefully some of the reviews will focus on the video quality of the FF camera also, now that its resolution has been bumped up to 5MP.

It doesn't latch on to the mainstream consumer because the average person think that Apple and Samsung are the only cell phone companies out there. Go into just about every cell phone store and all they'll try to sale you is a iPhone or Galaxy. That's because both got ahead of the game, but the field has caught up in recent years.

As far as features, I don't care for Sense, TouchWiz, etc. I like stock/vanilla android. I currently own a HTC One, but it's a Google Play Edition. The overall look of the phone is what sold me. It's beautiful.

To me, if you haven't owned the device or at least spent enough time to test everything out on it, then your opinion of it is really mute. Watching endless amounts of videos or reading reviews don't really do justice until you actually put it in your hand and get the feel for yourself. I'm not attempting discredit anything your saying, because you're bringing up some valid points.

As it should be. Photos and tweets have no business next to my news articles, lol

That's great. But you mentioned Feedly when I said there was no BlinkFeed-like app on iOS. Seeing that I want one place to check my Instagram and Twitter feeds Feedly is not a solution for me.
