HTC ONE REVIEW - The Verge

They said the same thing about the DNA, and look how that turned out.

A friend of mine at work has the DNA and his battery life is good enough to get through the day. The One has a 300mah bigger battery, a smaller screen and the new snapdragon with Sense 5.0. All of that should, theoretically, add up to better battery life. Then again, many thought the One X+ would delivery better battery life than the One X.

Safe to say there are still apple fan boys trolling htc forums. And Android is killing apple, why do you think their stock keeps falling? It's not because of anything else. Even teens are pushing android now.

It does work both ways. That will be in the fall. The low and mid range of Android will also have moved. DNA for $99 on contract in the fall? Definitely, maybe even cheaper. Maybe the same with the One (though I hope not). The free phones will be the likes of the One X and SGSIII (the SGSII is free on contract now). So, as the bar keeps moving, and Apple stays in the same place (or marginally better), Android devices keep getting better and better at a much faster pace. Apple's two-year design cycle is starting to backfire.
In Canada we can get most top tier phones for free as we have the dreaded 3 year contract. The iPhone and Note 2 are the exception. But recently the 16gb iPhone5 is now available for only $99 which is unheard of at this point. I says something about iphone sales perhaps.

I have an Epic 4G Touch(SGS2) and the best I can get is 20 hours with 30min screen on. Yesterday I got 15 hours and 2h18m screen on.

My phone is setup to be always connected and always synced. To have a smartphone and not so that is a waste. I mean the point of the phone is so you can get all your info the moment it comes in. If you keep all that turned off and only get info when you go and check then why not get a dumb phone with a nice browser and you can use that to check and respond to your emails/twitter and such.

I like to use a smartphone the way it was intended to be used... always on always connected.

Well that video was a waste of time. All they did was bash the phone. The verge only cares about the iPhone and galaxy phones though.

How did you come away with that conclusion? He says its his favorite android phone to date, and that it sets the gold standard for android phones from here on out and that he's in love with the phone. Just because he also mentioned its shortcomings doesn't mean it's a bad device or that he hates it or bashing it.

...because every site without "Android" in their name is somehow biased towards Apple. duh. lol.

No, it's because their reviews are always different from everyone else's. But yet never have a bad word for certain companies devices. Not necessarily apple's, their battery review is ridiculous, as they haven't tested it properly.

HTC makes sexy, sexy, hardware. My only gripes would be the cluttery-ness (customization takes care of most of that) and the teensie hardware buttons on the very bottom of a big phone. I can hardly consider quad-core being a gripe except in the battery department... it's a good thing to have hardware with a bit of future-proofing on a two-year contract.

Exactly. I'm not even worried about battery life. I just want an official (proper) comparison on the camera.

Agreed. I'm always near somewhere I can charge my phone.

I don't talk much so I never have much voice time. I do A LOT of websurfing and video watching though. Screen on time was 6 hours 54 mins, voice time was 21 mins.

Dude... that's awesome. I get great battery on my DNA as well, and often go 2 days in between charges but never anything approaching those screen on numbers. I also don't do anything along the lines of battery saving techniques.

the only thing that sucks about non removable batteries is if the battery fails you have to send it in for repairs or replacement. for us power users that root and s-off it would void out any warranty. so you would almost have to tear the phone apart yourself.

That link appears to have been removed anyway. There are a bunch of reviews finally popping up that appear to be a little less rushed. The first batch resembled a bunch of comments clamouring "FIRST!"

But still looks like those reviews should be taken lightly in light of Jerry's post. They wouldn't have been able to do a proper review that quick.

Yeah, well all reviews should be taken lightly, really. I'll read plenty of reviews, but at the end of the day I tend to disagree with most places that aren't Engadget or Android Central. Not that everyone else is necessarily wrong, but I find my usage is not in line with how those other reviewers do, so their experience isn't the same as mine.
