HTC One: Speakerphone comes on automatically when placing a call after 4.4 update?

go to..... settings ? power ? uncheck the 'fast boot' option and then restart your phone

The Chrome update did fix everything..... until today. My phone received an OTA update bringing it up to software numebr 4.19.401.11 and now the SAME issue has returned! What's worse is removing Chrome doesn't appear to fix it. How annoying :(

What carrier are you on? Have not seen an update of VZW.

So I guess nobody else has had this problem return? Mine is still defaulting to speakerphone on when making a call, very annoying.

Mine has it too.. Several times. It blows my ear drum out.. Very annoying.. Only since the update..

Sent from my HTC One using AC Forums mobile app

Mine happens for every call. Tried numerous hard resets etc.. but still the same issue. Not sure if Chrome is the cause this time.

I switched it on as soon as it was possible. Not fully charged. Just let it drain keeping it on of course. I let mine drain over night. It needs time to completely "forget" everything. Any way that did the trick for me...

I have been reading this thread and trying many different suggestions, such as uninstalling the updates for chrome and reseting my phone, until I realized a few days ago I updated the Facebook app on my HTC One, I uninstalled the updates on the Facebook app and I no longer have an issue with speakerphone turning on during my phone calls. I am not sure if that will help to solve any other issues that people are having, but it solved mine.

Hmmm, I don't use Facebook but the app does update still. I removed the updates and the speakerphone issue has now gone away. I hope it stays away! Thanks

I dont think it has to do with facebook. I have never deleted it and the problem went away on its own.

Looks like you're right. The issue did dissapear for a couple of days after removing the Facebook updates but has since returned. I had another issue where the phone would not charge unless it was switched off and the USB connection failed to work. I sent it back to HTC and they returned it saying they were unable to find any fault (they reflashed it and the issue was gone). Sods law that issue also returned a few days later. I did however find a way to correct that. Switched the phone off, held vol + and - down while holding power button. Let the phone get to the HTC screen and release all buttons, charging issue has now gone.

Yes, the issue has returned in full force. Makes the phone quite unusable as a phone. Just have to hope an update fixed it or get rid of the phone.

Just received the latest HTC update (Sense 6.0 etc...) and I am pleased to say ALL issues (the main ones being speakerphone switching on automatically and intermittent charging) are completely fixed. The phone is now 100% usable. About time!

Had similar issue with Nexus 5. Tracked issue down to setting in Automatic Call Recorder app. Automatic Speaker option needs to be turned off.

okay so this worked for me go into your setting go down to apps and swipe over until it says "all" type in "htc sense input" and click on it the click on where it says "clear data" this DOES NOT delete any of your personal information pictures etc! hope it works(:

My friend, The same problem happens to me, And I think by receiving the Android 5.0, it will automatically fix.
