HTC One: This is THE BUG Thread.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I updated my HTC One to 4.3 last night. Now my signal strength meter either shows full signal or no signal - nothing in between. Also, when connected with Bluetooth to my car, it's only displaying 3 contacts from my address book, whereas before it was showing them all! Anyone else had either of these problems?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Does anyone know how to get the menu bar to return on the HTC One lock screen? My phone recently turned off, and when I turned it back on, the menu bar was gone. It looks like the picture I've attached. If someone could help me, I'd be so grateful!!View attachment 91436

If you have it when unlocked you should see it when locked too.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I have the same problem with the FM radio crashing with a Bluetooth error. I rarely use bluetooth and it is off 99% of the time.

FWIW I don't have the same problem with TuneIn Radio.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I got my (Sprint) HTC One at the beginning of September, and have been blessed with one that does the random shutdowns/require plugging into power to restart. Did the sart in safe mode, remove apps, adjust settings to minimize battery use, battery recalibration, installing both s/w upgrades, factory reset with data, factory reset wiping data. Plus a lengthy trading of comments with HTC CS, and conversation with Sprint CS. At this point it shuts down 4 or more times a day and I have to carry my Anker battery pack so I can restart it while travelling.

HTC will RMA/review for repair the phone - taking 10 days or more. My most recent stop at the Sprint store yielded feedback that "it is a known bug" about incompatibility between HTC Sense and the current Android OS; wait for a s/w upgrade ... a month or more. Plus that the most recent upgrade "didn't optimize the battery"

10 days without the phone seemed harsh until I consider waiting for January (at least) for Kit Kat.

Two questions: first, seems to me with all the plugging in to power that I need to do to restart the phone, I must have been seriously using up the recharge lives of this phone. So even waiting for KitKat or new Sense might be moot. What is the expected battery life for the device?? (thinking that I might need a "new" new phone by then for battery reasons)

And second, is the 'Android/Sense version incompatibility' a valid reason for the shutdown issue, or just another brush-off from the vendor?? suggestions for my next step

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

With 4.3 update on tmo, contact pics in the text/sms area are sporadic. They appear, they dont appear, then they appear again. Haven't pinned down what's making it appear and not appear... anyone else find a fix for this yet?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

After I installed the latest update with 4.3 and htc sense 5.5, I can't use the on-screen menu buttons on top of the screen. For example the "add a new note" on the note application, or to get options in the gallery app to set picture as wallpaper. The buttons doesn't register that i'm pressing them. Anyone else have this problem? Or a solution? should I try a factory reset?

I was just trying to help someone with this. You need to turn on animations in the developer's menu. For some reason in 4.3 if you disable animations the menu no longer works. I had them try changing the behavior of the home button, so when pressed and held the menu should open, and this didn't work. So far nothing brings back the menu operation with animations disabled in 4.3.

Not sure how you got anything from it the way it was. Had to fix it, should be an easier read. Did that fix it for you?

When trying to update my facebook i get this error [RPC:S-3] error. also how do i remove vibration from facebook messages?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

i don't know if this is a bug or not...but whenever i have multiple apps to update, my phone will update two or three then lag. i have to exit play and return to finish all of the updates. no big deal but kind of annoying if anyone has a solution.

thanks!

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Cant find it :l
Press the menu button at the top left corner. Then scroll to the bottom, find app settings and uncheck vibrations.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

With no changes to my phone, the volume button now doubles as a power on button.

Strange

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

still no fix for this terrible bug???
the sensor doesn't recognize when you take the phone off from your ear to end a call, and the screen is off.
i have to turn the screen on manually to end the call!!
how come it's not fixed yet? (sense 5.5, 4.3)

Additionaly, if you activate the 'end call with power button' option AND your screen has been turned off during call there is no way to turn the screen on again without dropping the call.

Frustating if you need to take a note/access some info stored on your phone during call.

My old xperia pro doesn't have this kind of behaviour.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

You, sir, are a legend! I have been having this issue for a while and I had animations disabled. Enabling animations fixed the issue :)
