I see Assassin Droid has already asked everyone to chill out. Please heed his warning and ensure to follow the rules. As I always say .. Debates / Discussions are great but going down the insult / troll road isn't needed.

Its not "trolly" at all. Nowhere did I say it was a piece of crap or destroy it. I clearly said I was far and away the best phone HTC has ever made but that's a big difference from best phone out there. I credited its build quality above all else. Why is this surprising to everyone? When was the last great flagship HTC has put out? Aside from build quality when has HTC has the best of anything in a phone? Come on man, im just stating the obvious and people are upset by it because they spent their hard earned bucks on it. I was very politically correct about how I addressed my dislikes about it and why the other devices were better options. I wish there was a post like mine before I went out and purchased the HTC 10 I could of referenced to and maybe I would of skipped it given its problems.

Well, I do agree with most of your niggles with the 10, but HTC has put together an audio experience that is unmatched on most other flagship devices. So, they have that in their corner and it's very compelling. Not to mention, Sense is pretty darn good too. If they actually do update the T-Mobile device's camera, then the 10 will quickly move to the number 2 spot behind Samsung. Samsung wins because the phone has a great design and an outstanding camera.

Interesting video about battery life. Unfortunately it says nothing about the power efficiency as the HTC 10 has a very weak 377 nits brightness power at full whereas the S7, Z5, and G5 have almost or more than DOUBLE that. So, in the test they have all the phones at max brightness and, really, the HTC is at half brightness. So of course it will do better than most of those phones in this test.

I have seen some decent numbers from the HTC 10 around the forums though, so I don't think the battery life is that awful. But it certainly can't compete with the AMOLED screen of the S7.

I don't see how your opinion can be taken very seriously since it is based on an out-dated software version.

Yeah they tried and failed... But HTC admits they failed and addressed at least some of it with a new software release.

Totally disagree.
Its his opinion regardless, and you're acting like the software version being outdated is HIS choice but instead its totally out of his hands.

If he purposely avoided updating his phone, I'd agree but in this case nah.

I do like me some cheesecake. I swear I read somewhere that it does not have "always listening" capabilities. Maybe that's only with the screen off. Which is what Chilly was looking for. Maybe it does work when you're actively using the phone, though.
It's always on when on the charger, or from the wake screen, or while on any screen. Same as all my other phones...(M8,9)

Well there's OK Google when the screen is on or the phone is charging. It doesn't always listen though, you're right about that. I read on XDA that that feature is pretty much a Nexus feature. There aren't a lot of Android phones that do that.

Exactly the point. Had the out of box experience been what others are claiming with the update then maybe it wouldn't have soured me on it. I have 3 kids and camera is the #1 most important feature on any smartphone for me followed by battery life. When left in carriers hands, who knows how long it could take to get an update and I highly doubt it was going to be within the 14 days I had to decide to keep it. The phone should of been ready to go out of the box.

I don't think that's 100% accurate. The 10 does support always on for "OK Google" from any screen. The feature just has to be enabled from the Google app settings.

Settings -> Voice -> "Ok Google"detection . You can toggle the From any screen option from there.

If I'm wrong, I owe you a slice of cheesecake.

You're absolutely right that it supports ”OK Google” from any screen except an off screen. It's not always listening on the 10 as it is with the Nexus.

This is my point exactly and if I don't see the update within the timeframe (10 days to go), it's going right back... I think.. Lol!

Who cares if it's my first post? Maybe I just finally felt inclined to come share my thoughts. So LG paid a random nobody on a forum to come make a post? I'm sorry but not everyone has to share you're same fandom. What I'm saying about the camera shouldn't be new. Every major YouTube reviewer and website has stated the same thing. It's much improved but still lagging way behind the other flagships. 6 Hours screen on time??? Don't make me laugh. Every reviewer claimed they were lucky to get 4:30. I've been using the HTC 10 since launch on the 18th and everyday since I've failed to get more than 4:30 of SOT. Posting your photos proves nothing. WOW you got a decent shot out of a 2016 flagship, CONGRATS! This is my opinion and its shared among many others.

Yes, you did share your opinion, but why did you share it here? Listen, I don't have an HTC phone. I have the S7 Edge, but just like I hate it when HTC Fanboys come over to our HTC Fanboys come over to our forum to brag about how their phone is so much better then the S7 Edge, the same thing applies in reverse. Why can't we just accept that it's possible, just possible, for there to be more than one good phone? And why is it only phones where we get into these petty little squabbles? If I don't have the same screwdriver that you have, are you going to ridicule me and talk trash about my inferior screwdriver? It's a tool bud, just a tool.

WTF dude, apparently you havent been over to the tools and hardware forums lately. The Phillips vs. flathead argument has raged for years, lives have been lost and families ruined.

I've heard it compared to our generation's Hatfields and McCoys.

Here is what I don't understand: why does it have to be "The Best" phone? Aren't all these phones pretty much personal choice? The OP selected the LG G5, which a great many sites feel missed the mark this year. According to Phil's Second Opinion review, the HTC 10 camera is third, behind the G5 and the S7. So, it's the third best camera in Android? Well, I think that is more than good enough to pay $700 for. Why is it only worth $700 if it has "THE BEST EVAH" camera? Or build? Or software skin? For me, a #3 camera combined with the build quality, the audio quality, and the lighter near-stock Sense skin which should come with quicker updates means it is worth $700. NONE of these phones have to be "the best at x" to be worth $700. It has to have the right combination of features for you. For the OP? The G5. Great. Go with God, my friend. For my wife? It's the S7. Fantastic, couldn't love you more, honey. For me it's the HTC 10. Can we stop the macho competition to all have the best phone ever and just try to find the best phone that fits our needs?

He then proceeded to come to this forum and bash the 10. If the crappy LGG5 is his phone of choice then that's fine. It's still no excuse for him to come over here and bash our phone of choice, while justifying it as his "opinion". Gimme a break. And I've been over to the LGG5 forums...not a lot of happy people over there. Just saying...

Wait...that sounds as if you were bored this morning and created the screen name and made the post because you were bored and enjoy tension and drama. #amirite ?

No. I don't care what other people say or do enough to worry about it, and I certainly don't participate in internet wang measuring contests, so you'll have to find someone else to argue with. I just scrolled by the post in the New Posts listing and gently reminded people that they don;t need to fight with you (or anyone) if they don't want to.

You do your thing. I'm not against you doing it.
