HTC U11 Preorder Thread!

I'm extremely pissed off at the 2015/16 bezels. I want this phone to replace my 10 but this is a sticking point now. I don't want a Samsung ever, and Sony are also a joke with bezels.

Going to wait until all the IFA announcements then decide in the 4th quarter.

Such a shame.

I just pre-ordered my U11. I can't wait to get my hands on it. If I like it I may or may not keep my S8+.

What is wrong with Bezels? They don't bother me at all.

Not just about looks, but the fact it makes the phone bigger and bulkier than it needs to be. Look at what Samsung and LG have done... Big screen in a more nimble design.

At the very least put slimmed down side bezels... Like what Huawei have done.

Having said all that, as things stand, the U11 is still front-runner for when I come to upgrade, but it would be fairly reluctantly for the design reasons!

I love bezels. Makes it much easier to hold. At least it's the correct aspect ratio and not that BULLCRAP Samsung pulls with the curved edges and 18:9 aspect ratio.

I have no issues holding my S8+. If anything it's easier to hold because it's narrower then these other large phones.

I don't care for curved edges at all. I want something like what the G6 has. Except without those awful jagged screen corners.

I love my M10 and still owe Sprint $250 on it, so I'm not sure if I'm going to upgrade. The camera is whats really drawing me in though. The one real concern I have is, with the squeeze gestures, will there be a case that works? Being glass front and back, I know I will drop it, and that sounds expensive.....

HTC is including a case with the phone - I have not seen the case though. I imagine it's one of those clear TPU ones they've included with the last couple of phones - that shouldn't impede the touch feature. Now those armor type cases - that might be a different story.

That's correct the case they include doesn't cover the sides anyway so edge sense shouldn't be affected.

HTC has said cases will work. The frame is pressure sensitive not capacitive so no reason cases wont work. If you press on the case the case will press on the frame.

I briefly looked around the net and haven't found anything yet regarding cases affecting the squeeze gesture. I will look more later.

Oh wow, I hadn't even considered the fact that a case may affect the squeeze gesture. Thanks for the heads up and the research!

I read on their website that cases will work with squeeze, if you are wearing gloves then it will work also etc. As somebody said above it is not capacitive. Squeeze a case it squeezes the phone.

Awesome news!! Thanks for sharing!

Sold my S8+ and preordered the silver. Total $684 after taxes and next day shipping.
I'm pretty sure I'll regret not choosing next day shipping when they start shipping 😂
But man HTC is charging a premium for next day shipping.
