Huawei Nexus SD810 is a DEAL BREAKER for me

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

How is the battery life in the S6 Edge+?

I've heard it's no better than the S6.

I am strongly considering the G4 or the Z5 Premium.

Or dare I say it, get an iPhone 6 Plus for cheap

3000 mAh and I've heard it's considerably better than the S6, closer to the Note.

iPhone certainly has its fans, but it's lack of customizations make it an automatic non starter for me. for instance, not being able to remove the text under app icons by installing nova would drive me insane (ocd).

the G4 seems nice, I really wanted to like it but the software is underwhelming. the removable battery is a huge plus though, but I'd probably get a Note 5, Edge+ and even the Note 4 over it.

I've done little to no research on the Z5 Premium, but I'm interested to see how that big battery manages that 4K display.

I agree with everything you said...

There is a lot more info on the Z5 series to come. It has now come to light that the Z5 is actually running 1080p most of the time. You need to be watching 4k content for the screen to actually be 4k. Like videos or pics.

So I'm hoping this will be a pretty great phone.

That's how it already works for all smartphones with 2k screens.
Apps are rendered in 1080p and then upscale to 2k by the GPU but their is little content in native 2K on Android (videos, gallery, some very rare games, ...).
That's why people that have tried to force 1080p rendering on 2k display's smartphones have reported no improvement on battery life.

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

Throw in a really strong 20mp camera and a 3000+ battery and I'm perfectly fine with the 810.

interesting, I actually never thought of that but it makes sense ... that makes me feel better about 2016 and the inevitable onslaught of 4K phones. I guess at this point it's more of a selling point for the average Joe that walks into his local carrier store and chooses a phone based on the 3-4 bullet points next to the display model.

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

So from the looks of those benchmarks, the 810's scores are about 10% higher than the 808's. So it'll be a tick faster in terms of raw power and I'm sure that it'll do better graphics-wise just based on the faster GPU in the 810.

These is just one, very limited set of numbers... we'd have to see a deep dive from a site like AnandTech... But not a sign of doom and gloom. Like I mentioned before, 9 months is a long time to work out kinks in the processors.

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

I also think the 810 stuff is overblown. Of course, I would be upgrading from a S4 Pro so I have little to worry about any potential heating/throttling. However, this Geekbench stuff needs some context so I found this information:

Motorola Nexus 6 (Motorola Nexus 6 - Geekbench Browser from 9/15/15)
Single Core Score - 679
Multi-Core Score - 1861

Huawei Angler (Huawei angler - Geekbench Browser from 9/14/15)
Single Core Score - 1188
Multi-Core Score - 4285

I'm pretty sure the 810 will be fine.

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

5.7 inch QHD
810
3 GB RAM
32 GB Storage Option
12.2 MP Rear Camera ~ marketed as 13
7.7 MP Front Camera ~ marketed as 8

Sounds legit

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

Don't knock it??? Why not? first of all this is a rumors thread, so it goes without saying that nothing is official until it's official. but what's wrong with a little speculating? I'd love to be wrong, I think we all would. but I'm not just gonna ignore what's being reported and pray Hauwei magically installs some heat pipe system at the last minute.

It wouldn't be last minute, I assume they heard the feedback about overheating just like one plus and sony did and devised a new cooling scheme also.

Most sites I've looked at say the camera is 21 MP, so we'll see. What's interesting to me is 24 GB out of 32 available to the user, when the Moto Nexus has 26.

If it has a 1080p screen, 3500mAh battery

then it could have a processor from a tamagotchi and I'd be happy...

I'm definitely hoping you're right, I'd love to be wrong about it. To be honest, part of me is playing devils advocate, I'm mostly on board with you. I've never been much of a specs person, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at the very least cautiously optimistic about the 810.

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

I hope your sites are right. I realize megapixels are not the end all/be all. But realizing the Nexus camera may well not live up to the performance of the latest Samsung phones, a few more pixels would help at least as far as being able to crop the image more and still have a good sized image. And it would make me *feel* like I'm getting something more than the 13mp camera on my G3.

And you would like to think you're also getting something for the weird top back hump too.

Wait, so if 8 GB of storage is used for the OS than a 16 GB Nexus 5X would only have 8 GB left to use...

Yeah, I'm definitely springing for the 32 GB

Yeah for sure I guess I am also being overly optimistic. Coming from a computer Engineers standpoint thermals are some of the very first things we test. I never understood how Qualcomm let the chip out.. Someone fudged some numbers. Or they let it out with an asterisk saying it requires so and so cooling design. Who knows.

I have always been a nexus person as I love having the phone and roms but its getting tiring to me with writing code all day at work most times I don't want anything to do with it anymore. I just want something that works.

I loved my z3c(gasket under the screen failed while 4 feet underwater and she died) so I may look into the Z5.. I just know I will test the hell out of there waterproofness ha-ha(even if they are going back on how good it is)

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

Honestly, I think Qualcomm should have just made some revisions to the 805 and release one last Krait-based SoC before putting a 64-bit chip.

The 810 has been nothing but a failure for Qualcomm. Even though it ain't as bad now, the damage has already been done.

I've been thinking about this but I can't seem to put my finger on why the 810 throttles significantly on nearly every phone it's in. Not sure what is causing the chip to heat up quite a lot in the first place.
