Huawei Selling the 6P Direct -- with Caveats

Same here. That said, if you don't need the phone for another month, you might wait to see if Google offers another and better discount after the current one expires, which will be at the start of the holiday shopping season.

Oh definitely. I was planning on waiting for reviews, for one, and I was thinking that I'd wait for the second batch of phones, in case of issues with quality control. I wonder when each batch gets manufactured?

Ordered mine last night straight from Huawei. Used their payment plan since for some reason I got declined from Google. I already have my Google fi invite waiting for me to activate it. The financing through Huawei gives you 3 options. A 3 month, 6 month and 12 month payment options. I opted for the 6 month plan. Total was just shy of 600 with with CA sales tax. First thing I received was an invoice stating I will get another email with shipping info. Been 2 days too long waiting for that email haha.

I will say that buying through Huawei was far easier. The time it took to enter information vs Google was far simpler. Though they only have up to 64gb and 2 color options.

The one question I have with ordering direct from Huawei (which is my plan) is where the article says Huawei is drawing from different stock than Google. Even though that means possibly getting the device sooner, what would that mean in terms of quality control? Aside from waiting for reviews, quality control is my main concern, which is why I feel like I should wait for the second batch of phones.

They're all coming off the same lines, but Google (and anyone else selling the 6P) has ordered X units to be delivered at Y times from Huawei and Huawei has to fulfil those orders. So basically whatever Huawei is willing and able to produce in excess of what it needs to supply its retail customers is what it will sell direct to consumers. That's what's meant by drawing from different stock: out of however many devices produced in a day/week/whatever, a certain number have already been sold to retailers and have to be delivered to them so those retailers can supply their customers. You, as an individual consumer, stand in line behind them. So say they make 1000 6Ps today. If they need to deliver 1000 phones to Google tomorrow, you wait. If they produce 1000 and only need to deliver 800 of those to their retail customers, the remaining 200 go to Huawei's consumer retail channels. The actual accounting is more complicated, but that's the basic idea.

Wait retailers are going to sell this phone :P

Asurion is typically more expensive because they allow claims for lost and stolen devices.

Moto Protect, Nexus Protect, and even Apple Care IIRC are cheaper, but are worthless if your device is lost or stolen, since they want your original device in order to fix or exchange.
Actually, I think it Nexus Protect is thru Asurion.

I wonder when i add the 6P to my vzw line if my insurance will cover it?
Maybe I'll call Asurion

I can't speak for Verizon, but Sprint has confirmed that the 6p will NOT be eligible for their equipment protection. Sprint and Verizon appear to use the same insurance company (Assurion). Soooo.....

I don't think carriers typically sell insurance on devices they don't offer. There are companies that will sell you insurance directly, though; without the middleman. SquareTrade is one.

It has covered every phone I ever bought. Even ones I didn't get from Verizon. I bought phones off the open market and they were covered.

Are you sure that buying the 6P from the Huawei store does not include 90 days of Google Play Music?

If you check the fine print for this promotion, it does not say anything about requiring you to have purchased your device from the Google Store. "Promotion only open to residents of the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, Japan, Australia and New Zealand who purchase a Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X phone on or before April 18, 2017. Offer only available to customers who are not current Google Play™ Music subscribers, have not been Google Play Music subscribers, nor participated in a Google Play Music trial in the past 12 months. Offer must be redeemed by midnight Pacific Standard Time on April 18, 2017."

By contrast, the fine print for the Google Play credit promotion *does* specify that you must have purchased your device from Google: "Good for one $50 credit toward your Google Play™ balance with the purchase of a Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X purchased on the Google Store in the US from September 29, 2015 to October 25, 2015."

I ordered mine last week and it's saying processing I also already have a bill because I did the financing and it's November 21st I would certainly hope they would send the phone before I pay my first bill?

When I placed my order on 10/22 (Thursday) via Huawei's site; I got an email with the order number starting with "HUAWEI" and then followed by 8-numerical digits; so basically reads as "HUAWEIXXXXXXXX" ... that is my confirmation number.

I ordered the 6P in Graphite and 64gb storage. My total came out to $549.00 and no tax charged.

All I got was an email confirming my order however my card hasn't been charged yet and I have not received any other e-mail from them giving a tracking # or an anticipated ship/arrival date.

I've had to make furniture payments before my furniture was delivered in the past. I'm in the same boat though I ordered 2 weeks ago, first payment on 15th.

i ordered a black huawei watch and the graphite 6p 64gb on 10/11. although i have my watch I'm still waiting for a tracking number for the 6p. they only say early november.

If you look at the Huawei site now, it says "Shipping LATE November".....I'm hoping that's just for new orders and that all of us who ordered several weeks ago will still get it sooner.

I haven't ordered mine yet, but I was going to today, from Huawei. I'm still wondering when it won't be considered a pre-order anymore, and just in stock, and what pre-ordering means in terms of quality control.
