Huge Problems After 4.4.3 AT&T Update

A hard reset does not alter the operating system level, it will remain at 4.4.3. But the hard reset resolved all my issues of phone running hot and battery drain. Works fine after the hard reset.

I can also confirm after a hard reset, my device has returned to normal. Texts are working just fine, normal temperature, and regular battery life.

I can confirm as well with a hard reset the phone is back to better than normal. Actually a bit more snappy and battery life as good as ever. I would like to bill AT&T for the 5 hours it took me!

I'd be demanding $$$ compensation for every minute my phone wasn't functioning. Carriers only care when it hurts their pocket book.

Same experience here, did a factory reset and the phone is no longer experiencing any of the issues I had with the update.

I did the upgrade, did a factory reset and switched to ART and everything is running as smooth as butter. No issues here so far

I am so frustrated!!!! I went from having a phone that lasted from 7am to 10pm and only use 40-50% battery and now it uses 10% every 30 minutes sitting idle - not being used! It is Blazing HOT. I can NOT install any apps! I go to see which apps are running and the playstore is cycling through every single app I have installed, one after another, and continues this process indefinitely....I guess to see if it is up to date. Could AT&T at least allow us to reload our previous ROM! How in the world did this ROM (which took the longest out of all carriers) make it out to the public field riddled with TROUBLE! How long are we going to have to wait until this is fixed because my phone is a paper weight now?

I'm sorry but I started another post by accident and cannot find the delete option :(

I am having the same issues that have been mentioned here, and now I can't even do the factory reset. Going to settings->Backup & rest -> Reset Phone, I click OK on the warning that it will erase all of my data, and then it just sits there and does nothing.

This has been the WORST OTA experience I have ever had with a phone. Until yesterday, I had zero issues; now it is barely usable.

Edit:
I was able to get to the factory reset via the Volume down + power button method, but this should have been unnecessary. I also was unable to use the HTC Backup App before I reset. I would click on the Backup button and again, it would just sit there doing nothing.

The only thing I can offer to contribute to this thread besides my rant is that Apps actually WILL download and install from the market, but in my experience with this update, it is taking upwards of 10 minutes or more and I imagine people aren't usually willing to give it that long.

I went one step further and blew away any trace of ATT crap on my phone. They had an issue like this a while ago with another phone and it required a reset as well. I'm happy with my new Google Play Edition ROM and battery had been stellar since the install. Figure if I have to start over may as well get the ROM on I wanted in the first place. Way to go ATT.

I am seriously considering this. Did you use the tools from XDA Developers? How did the process go for you? How strongly would you recommend this solution? What caveats should I know before I do this? Thank You!!!

If you go to Settings/Apps/Running you will notice that the 1st running app continues to change and cycle through every app you have on your phone. This is what is eating up the CPU and hence the Battery and hence making your phone almost unusable. Does anyone know how to stop it?????

I hope they come up with a fix for you guys phones. It sucks that you updated and the phone turned to garbage...So with that being said I have not had any issues with my one after the update...Maybe I'm lucky

so, not sure what to make of it, but my phone has stabilized after about 24hrs. As I said before, the one thing that seemed to either be complete coincidence or the action that helped was opening Hangouts and making it the default SMS client, then going back into the stock messages app and putting it back as the default SMS client.

Since then the phone is acting normal again, i'm at 90% battery after about 4 hours off charger and it's cool to the touch, apps are installing fast from the play store again and all seems good...??

Not sure what to make if it. I had all the problems yesterday; got messaging working by switching back and forth between hangouts and messages several times and it finally took. Slow to send at first and then speeded up and acting normally now.

Last night phone was accidentally left unplugged and battery totally drained. Charged up to 100% and then turned on -- and all seems fixed now. Back to using about 5% battery/hour which is where I was or even a little better than before the update.

So those with issues might see if letting the thing discharge (which didn't take long the way it was just about literally burning through the battery yesterday) and then charging might make things better.

yes, I had all the issues posted here, I finally did a factory reset and re-installed everything. No longer hot, sends and receives messages, and downloads as it should. I can say I was really mad about the update but am glad this worked out for me.

I did the update. Had the battery drain problem as well as not waking from sleep and overheating. I contacted HTC and they suggested I clear the cache and, if that didn't help, do a factory reset. Did both and most of the issues went away except for the battery drain. Chatted with an HTC tech on the net and he suggested I reset the battery manager by powering down the phone and plugging it back into the charger. After 10 minutes you hold down the volume up and down buttons as well as the power button. Keep all 3 buttons held down for about 3 minutes. You'll see the phone go from off to showing a charging battery to off several times. After 3 minutes you release the buttons and the phone should reboot. If it doesn't just hit the power button. I tried it and my battery is functioning totally normally again.

Hope this helps anyone who might still be having the battery issue!!

Last time I had an issue like this was when flashing a custom Rom on a phone. This is ridiculous. Thinking of flashing a GPe Rom on my One M8 now. Been wanting to keep from flashing since this phone is awesome from the manufacturer but now I'm strongly considering it.

Just an update, my phone has been off charge since 11am central time and it's now 8:05pm and I'm finally down to 31%. Mind you, I have bluetooth connected at all time, I didn't have WiFi connected at all, I have been snapchatting, Instagram'n, and texting this entire day. SO, I would assume my battery life is still good even after the upgrade. But I did do a factory reset and switched to ART runtime once I upgraded.

If you like stock sense, I have a thread in the M8 roms, rooting and hacks forum that will help you convert to a dev edition. It's just one extra step, which is flashing stock recovery. Pretty easy, took me about 20 minutes after everything was downloaded.
