I could not be more disappointed at Note 8 now that it has been unveiled.

I know I am the only one but I still miss the removable battery and I had so much fun changing people's channels with the remote capability.

Note 5 now and not seeing a big reason to upgrade. Would like improved camera but the Note 5 is meeting my needs. I did replace the non removeable battery so good to go for awhile.
Was it easy and was there a big improvement?

I figured that Samsung would have a surprise or two for us that had not been leaked.

Why, is this the first new phone you have looked at from Samsung? Samsung always has everything leadked before the launch. Actually with the requirement of an FCC approval, most has to be known.

I could not be more disappointed, the Note 8 is nothing more than a barely upgraded S8. I knew it would be similar but I did not know it would be THIS similar! I am shocked that Samsung did not do something revolutionary or something that would truly put it in a category all by itself. The S Pen is definitely not enough. This was supposed to be the phone to make us all forget about the Note 7, but all it has done to me is reminded me of the S8+. Who is Samsung fooling? Surely not me or any other educated phone lovers. I've been waiting to upgrade from my Note 5 but now I think I will stick with it. I almost contemplated getting the S8+ after the big unveiling today but I think that phone too is subpar. I think I'll hold out for another year. Shame on you Samsung you're fooling no one!

You had me until you called the s8 plus sub par lol

The last true Note was the Note 4. Everything else has been garbage, and just a rehash of the Galaxy S line up plus S-pen. there was a time when buying the Note was a thing of pride, a phone apart from the rest.
That's true. Problem is lower end phones "s line " have pretty much all the same bells and whistles.

I was also disappointed, but I'll still get the phone. I would've loved a different location for the FPS. I would've also appreciated a larger battery. But I'll still enjoy the phone. I'm looking forward to having a Note device again.

I think the bigger battery is a thing of the past. I use to think I couldn't get by without a spare battery that I could just pop in when I got low and I also have a nice external Samsung charger but now with the S8+ I have not had to use that charger not one time. I just hope the Note 8 battery will be just as good.

I was at the Verizon store and was checking out the Note 8. The store had hidden all the S8+s and only had Note 8 right next to S8. I think this action by Verizon alone, supports the title of this thread. The S8+ and Note 8 are way too similar.

I am actually looking forward to S9 or S9+. After the release of iPhone 8, which looks amazing, Samsung has to get super serious about S9 so they'll have to make some improvements. The dual lens camera is a given but I wonder what else they might do.

But my Note 8 plans are on hold for the time being. Tired of carrying these heavy bricks. :)

Exactly that's the whole point of getting the note over the S series, because of the S pen. Any other features are a bonus imo. The three new pen features they showed off on stage, live messages with the sparkle pen, colouring book apps and the off screen memos are all useful and interesting to me. I owned the original galaxy note among other notes. It's time for me to migrate to a super phablet.

The fact that it has a dual lens camera is great to me. I have a 7 plus. The dual lens camera is good but the main camera is nowhere near as good as the standard camera on the S7/S8. I had the S7 edge last year for a few months and the pictures my 7 plus takes in comparison are rubbish. The only thing that makes it better overall is the dual lens for bokeh and the zoom. The note 8 has this now, plus OIS on both lenses. A better appeture on the telephoto lens, the ability to adjust the blur before and after taking a picture and the ability to take a shot with and without the zoom is great.

I think people are expecting too much from Samsung. They were not going to re-invent the wheel only 6 months after they announced the S8.

Removable batteries. Ah the good old days. I also miss the IR blaster too.

I have the s7 edge and iPhone 7 plus and sorry but the camera is better than the s7 edge. All the reviews agree too. More accurate colors. Samsung phones blown the colors out too much.

Those who bought the S8+ and aren't long standing Note owners probably won't get the Note8. Those who always want the best Samsung phone will buy it. I went with the S8 instead of the S8+ mainly due to the price and knowing that I would end up with the Note8 eventually. So, for me, it's a very nice upgrade. It's the same with cars and other things...if you skip a cycle, you'll probably appreciate it more than upgrading every time something new comes out.
You shouldn't expect major improvements if you upgrade more than once a year.

I have been saying the note 8 biggest advantage over the s8 plus will be the s pen. I don't think the extra 2 gb ram Will be that big of a deal.

From having a note 7, I will sit back and wait for the posts about how the curved screen makes using the s pen a pain as the tip drops off the edge making it hard to use close to the edges.

I know I will be happy just to have a screen to write on. It's just like paper. You know when you're to the edge. New Note users may complain though. We shall see.

I want the Note 8 because of the stylus, otherwise I would have bought the regular 8 or 8+. I thought the Note 7 was heads and shoulders above the Note 4 and have never been truly happy with the 7E-mainly because of the lack of the stylus which I used regularly. I am not a big fan of the edge window but I got used to it. Seems like it was more for show than go.

I too would like front mounted speakers, or a single speaker if for no reason other than I am old and my hearing is sub-par. I get tired of having to cup my hand under the end of the phone to bounce the sound toward me and I don't like holding the phone so that the bottom is aimed at me. I am sure that I am not the average customer and Samsung is not targeting people like me. :)

No matter, I am glad the Note 8 is finally on the way :)

Looks like you might be a good candidate for Bluetooth devices like the LG Tone. Great for calls and podcasts. Music, not so much.

I have to respectfully disagree here. I think that whether you prefer more staurated pictures (Samsung) or more natural looking pictures is down to personal preference. Last year I had the S7 edge for a few months before I got my 7 plus. The S7 took amazing pictures, many of which people asked if they were taken on a dslr. When I got my 7 plus I was disappointed at first with how much better the S7 pictures were. I think the only advantage the 7 plus had over the S7 edge was the dual lens camera for the bokeh effect and the 2 x zoom. However the standard shooter on the S7 edge was miles ahead of that on the 7 plus imo.

I agree. We haven't had a note in Europe since the note 4, we didn't get the note 5.:( Last year I wasn't sure if the note 7 was gong to be available in the UK so I got the S7 edge. This year I held off on getting the S8 + for the note 8 and I'm glad I did. I saw the note 8 today and it's a beauty and the s-pen feels so good.

I'm not dissapointed at all with the note. The return of the s pen, duel camera's & 6gb's. The only thing I question is the 3300mamp battery. Will it comfortably get you threw an entire day? I did not pre-order I'll just wait for the reviews & Black Friday. I'm sure I can wait a few more months!
