I got my Xoom upgraded to 4G, who else got there's?

The new market has screwed everything up. SIGH. Apps are saying they're not installed when they are. Others are saying they're installed when they aren't. And a LOT of them won't update at all. GRRRR. Oh, and I attempted to uninstall one of the ones that wouldn't update so I could just reinstall it. It disappeared from the market completely. SO not happy. And yes, I tried clearing the cache. Didn't help. I'll have to see if anyone else has run into this and whether there's a solution to it. I just wanted to warn people in advance...remember I only encrypted my device and didn't wipe it. Seems that didn't help me avoid the issues with the market.

Just got my Xoom. Market updated 5 apps so far without a problem. I didn't encrypt nor wipe the tablet. Dunno bout the market problem. Part of it could be the app developer's responsibility to update their app in the market to say it's compatible with the build. Like how Google Voice didn't show in the market but could be sideloaded via the .apk until Google update it.

Received mine today. Left rooted, came back unrooted. (FIxed)

But beware, when I booted it I had a missing sim message. It and the little tray had fallen out in the shipping box. Glad I hadn't tossed it yet.

So, after clearing the cache and data for the market, I was still having issues. Went to the web market and am able to go through *EACH APP INDIVIDUALLY* to update them. Oh man! As for the missing app, yes, that's exactly right...mint.com seems to no longer be tablet compatible. Um, WTH? Anyway, I'm doing all the updates now. Found a few that my phone seems to have missed, as well. I'm thinking the new market, to quote a certain golden droid, "isn't entirely stable". :D

Yeah, I had to install all of my apps individually and, some were missing but, I just searched, found them again and, installed them again. Between this and the IOS 5 update on my Ipad I've been pretty busy (and frustrated at times). It's still all fun. :)

There are some neat things I like about this update though and, the 4GLTE is really fast, even in my house, where the signal isn't the greatest.

I know all about the update thing. I'm doing updates on my wife's laptop right now so that when she gets home she can update her iPad2 to iOS5. I'm guessing she'll skip upgrading the iPhone 4 since her 4S is preordered and should be here in a couple days. I seem to have everything back in order on my Xoom. That was a pain. As for LTE, I'll be in good shape when they finally get around to installing it in my area. A new tower was just put in last year in my neighborhood. I'm less than a quarter mile from it. One of the reasons I like keeping the Xoom docked is to keep it charged in case we lose power. Then I can use it to have internet off the tower. :D Would be nice to have LTE for that, too. :)

I never thought I'd be envious of someone dealing with problems like the above. You have good problems, because you have your Xoom back.

Only weird thing I've noticed in the Market is my Xoom is picking up apps I bought for my phone (license for APW, PowerAMP and Dynomaster).

Did you delete the Market shortcut and run it from the App tray like it said in the instructions? I didn't ( I never read instructions :p) and everything came up on its own. They even charged the battery (I sent it in with 13% left). Beautiful Widgets showed the wweather for Elgin on boot :D

Honest eval of the entire process? Mine went as smoothly as expected. I tracked my shipment via FedEx till it was delivered. The Motorola took a day to acknowledge receipt via email and then it showed on the RMA site. Though it stated the upgrade was complete on Wednesday, I didn't believe it since the RMA site didn't show a sim card #. When that updated Friday, I figured they were prepping to mail it back. The process took less time than I prepared myself to be without my tablet (2 weeks), allowing for potential problems with my tablet specifically (though it ran flawlessly when I sent it in).

Given the potential # of tablets going to be sent in for the upgrade, I did not expect them to process them immediately. I expected batch processing, which actually would be safer than trying to do them as they came in I think. Motorola needs to update their RMA site software and status messages to make things more clear I think. And I did not appreciate them not requiring a signature from FedEx for delivery. I trust my neighbors and the people that walk my block about as far as I can hit the 10 Ring with certainty  But that was easily averted with a phone call to FedEx.

All in all, I'd rate the overall experience an 8 out of 10. My tablet is back, undamaged, and pulling the same speeds as my Charge. Except my Xoom is a lot more muscular :D

Oh did you try clearing the browser app cache to fix the crashes yet?

Yup. I agree completely. And the problems are solved now, so, all is good. Just thought I'd warn people that the new market might be a little flaky. I can't believe you still don't know where yours is. That's beyond maddening. :(

I rate it about the same. I gave them some feedback on the survey about fixing the stupid tracking site. That was really the major source of frustration during this process. I mean, seriously, Monday to the following Wednesday isn't bad. And they did try sending emails to keep me informed...albeit a bit late. Little tweaks to the process would make it a lot better.

And yes, I cleared the cache and deleted the data. I haven't been using the browser too much yet, but, haven't had it crash yet so that's good. We'll see if it holds up. Everything seems to be quite a bit more stable and faster since the update. Rather impressed so far.

Still no word. Sad thing is both of ours were received about the same time.

I know that's why I'm really confused. I would have thought they'd all be batched up together. I hope nothing happened to it. Maybe a tech had one of those "OH ****" moments and dropped it. J/K (I hope)...just trying to lighten the mood. I understand the frustration. I know if the roles were reversed how I'd feel. And it wouldn't be pleasant. sigh.

Anything is possible, unfortunately, Motorola doesn't really feel obligated to communicate with us. After all we are just the customers. LOL

Well, they did attempt to in my case. I got a lot of emails at the end trying to keep me informed. Honestly, I was almost impressed. If they had been sent a bit sooner than they were, they would have actually been useful. Your situation...I just don't get it. I really hope it gets resolved ASAP.

I've given up trying to figure it. They are so sophisticated it takes their supervisors 48 hours to get a response to inquiry.

That's a bit nuts. And exactly what I'm talking about when I say they needed a bit more transparency in this process.

Finally fixed tapatalk. Seemed to have lost my data. Awesome. :)

Mine came back yesterday after being sent in on Monday of the previous week. They didn't wipe it, which made me happy. There it's significant damage to the plastic piece that's on the top/back. They said if I mail it in they will take up to ten days to evaluate the damage and determine if they're at fault. If they are, they need another ten days for the repair.

Screw Motorola. I'm inclined to return my new Bionic as a result of this. I don't want to support them.

You should realize that Motorola doesn't have any interest in keeping customers happy.

OUCH! That's horrible!!! I'm sorry that happened. Man, what'd they do, use a crow bar to open it??

Based off of my experience with Motorola this past week, I have concluded the company is run by people who 52 cards shy of a full deck.

Hopefully, Google's will keep them far away from their engineers.
