I have 15 days to exchange my S4 for an HTC One

Yeah but she also doesn't facebook shoved down her throat every time she opens her gallery.

Mine is still touchy. If I don't get my finger right on top of the button, it will not respond. I hate to be negative but I've had this phone for a couple of days now and I like it less and less the more I use it. But I'm stuck with it cause I already exchanged an s4 for it. The s4 was dropping my network. Turned out it was AT&T and not the phone. I like the iPhone 5 more than this phone. I just posted it on a forum to trade.

It's a tough decision. A couple of weeks ago I started with the s4 then swapped for the ONE then back to the s4 but still kept thinking about the ONE. Turns out my dad wasn't going to use his upgrade so I used it and picked up a ONE tonight. I don't plan on keeping both as my wife would have my head lol. That being said I love them both and it is by far the toughest phone decision I've seen in a long time. The ONE is so perfectly designed and is the perfect size but the s4 it's just comfortable all around.

Is that a real concern? I had used the gallery for a couple weeks before I even noticed the Facebook pictures beneath my content.

Before I even got my S4, I was at extreme odds at which phone I would use my upgrade on. I spent hours researching and comparing. I am loving everything about the S4, but something tells me I missing out on something with the HTC One for some reason. Everybody is saying that it's the best Android out right now, and nobody is really saying that about the Galaxy S4. I love my S4 and it's awesome, but the HTC One is just so beautiful, and the speakers are a huge selling point as well. How are you guys liking the HTC One and should I consider swapping?

And what will you do when, after a few months, more phones come out? Will you start feeling like you're missing out on something again? Will you consider swapping again?

There will always be new and better phones on the market. You have to learn to live with your choices.

Full disclosure: I don't have either phone. I have a Galaxy Nexus, which I have had since the day it was released. It still suits me just fine.

I would say go for the HTC One unless you can get the Note 2, then go for the Note 2.

I can understand why you would want the One but even then it's a hard choice. There are so many new devices coming out this year. If you're one of those people that need the newest and best device, you're not going to ever be happy.

as u notice, I'm using note 2. since then... i really got no other option to change. (at least for now) if i really force to choose, i will go for s4. reason - removable battery and external sd card.

Okay, maybe it's that reviewers do a comparison of the screen, but don't do comparisons WITH SUNGLASSES on...maybe that's the difference.

I live in south Florida so sunglasses are on 12 months a year. Reviews have noted that the s4 is less reflective than the one thereby making up for some lack of brightness.

HTC has jumped the shark as far as I'm concerned. I don't care how good the phones are in theory. HTC has gone the way of Apple, namely "Do it our way." That's not the Android way. If I wanted to do it that way, I'd buy an iPhone.

Samsung addresses the most important issues for me:

--SD card
--Removable battery
--Screen size options

After those three, everything else is a frill.

Those are all deal breakers and critical to my use of the device. HTC is not even on the "possible" list as a result. I might add, I LOVE Samsung's features. For every one I can't find a use for, there's another that I can't do without. It's a great phone with a great camera and great features.

(Just switched FROM HTC...)

Dont confuse brightness with readability. The one is brighter but suffers from too much glare. With polarized lenses on the s4 is easier to see outside.

Not really; a lot of S4 owners have complained about outdoor brightness and readability (that results from lack of brightness).

In my opinion:

One advantages:
Better speakers
Better screen
Lighter manufacturer overlay
Feels nicer in hand
less/zero lag
All capacitive buttons
Better low-light camera

GS4 advantages
Thinner
Lighter
More software features
Bigger screen
SD card slot
Removable battery
No menu bar
Slightly better daylight camera
Newer Android version

Battery life is reportedly about equal (actually, some say the One is better, other say the S4 is better, so I averaged the reports).

Heck, I'll throw in the Nexus 4 too :)

Nexus 4 advantages
Stock Android
Latest version of Android
Guaranteed quick updates for at least a couple of years
Lower price
Zero lag

So it depends on what your priorities are for each phone. IMO, Nexus 4 ≥ HTC One > Galaxy S4.

You're only allowed one exchange. From there he would have to sell the phone and hope he gets enough to buy the other up front.

OP, have you used the one in person? If not, I suggest going in store and getting some hands on with it. Remember, it doesn't matter what everyone else says about the phone. It's what functions best suit your needs. Kind of sounds to me like the s4 suits your needs, but everyone else opinions are swaying you to reconsider.

What Jennifer said and you can play the buyer's remorse game all day long. One vs. SGS4, it's like Ferrari vs. Lamborghini: you'd be lucky to end up with either. It will boil down to some specific considerations unique only to you.

So as not to be a hypocrite, I WON'T share my opinion about which of those two phones I would get. :D

I know its just that I going to be locked to this phone for two years. I want to make sure im getting the best one possible..

Aha! A perfectionist! I understand those because I am one too.

Unfortunately for both of us, the best one possible isn't one of our choices. These are two damn good phones. Each one has a whole list of ways in which it's better than the other.

So you can spend the next two years worrying about the good points of the other phone.

Or do what I am planning, and spend them enjoying the good points of whichever one you get.

(At least, I'm going to try. :) )

It is a disease and I suffer from it. I think it's called newphone-itis. :-/

This post sounds to much like you're trying to make sense lol I like it
My choice is HTC One, Nexus 4, Galaxy S4

OP, just to make matters more confusing--my momma got a galaxy note 2 yesterday from best buy as their mobile solutions store on ebay was having them on sale for $149 for upgrades and they price matched that in-store for her. And it's been a joy to play around with, though she's probably not going to use a lot of the features, she just wants to be able to read things on the screen, and it definitely is large enough for that! If I hadn't already bought the One, I may have gotten in on that deal, too. It really is a nice user experience. Though playing around with the HTC One in the store was a great experience too, and I'm still very excited to get it. I have purses that the Note 2 would be a tight squeeze in, so it's probably better that I went with a smaller phone. But I will be a commuter student this fall, complete and with hour and a half long bus rides each way to my university, and I may wish I could get textbook ebooks and break out a phablet. But I'm ok with that. I prefer normal ol' books anyway.

But I know there have been members here who have tried the S4, One, and Note 2, and ended up sticking with the Note 2 because, again, it was the best experience and phone for them. Again, latest and greatest don't mean jack if it's not the best for you. There are some serious pluses to a bigger phone--bigger battery = long battery, and bigger screen = possibly better web browsing experience. If you're into reading stuff on your commute, the kindle app may be really nice on that phone. You could probably more easily slay all your friends in Draw Something with the Note 2. And aspects of Samsung's UI that you may really like may be part of that phone's experience too, though I wouldn't know since I don't have any hands on with the S4 to compare.

I've heard people have switched to the LG Optimus G and love it, because it was the best for them.

Again, I'm glad that people are sharing pros and cons to both phones, and maybe some of those will resonate with you, but it sounds like you want the BEST on the market at this moment, and that's forever changing, and always subjective. Maybe take a day with the S4 and use a notepad (or make take notes on your phone?) write down what you used and found useful about it that day, what annoyed you, general observations about how you generally use your phone and what that experience is like right now. Then look it over--are there apps you can't live without? Those you can probably get on any phone. But are there samsung things you're liking and using? They put those features on the phone for someone to get use out of them, and if you do, then note that! Are there things that you find lacking that the One would fulfill? What about other phones you may not be considering? Would you like to read more on it? Would you like to play music without headphones on it? What settings do you find yourself using your camera in? How do you use the photos later--instagram, facebook, sending them to family members so they can put em on their fridge?

Again, a "best," perfect experience is completely subjective and honestly, maybe impossible at the rate technology advances. You may be happy now and lust after the Nexus 5 or Note 3 when they come out. But is you can be content with your experience with the phone instead of finding it a distracting hindrance, you've made a good choice. And I hope you are happy with it for the time to come.

Sorry to basically reiterate my last post while telling you to check out other phones if you feel so inclined, but you never know. And holy cow the Note 2 really is a lovely experience.

Agree with most of this but I do think the S4 is much nicer in hand. I know all you're gonna say is plastic plastic blah blah but the fact is it feels nicer lighter and more comfortable in hand. Also battery is better on the S4 people won't just let that go.

GS4 Love
