I have a G4, you have questions — ask away!

In gsam have you tried the "phone signal" and "others" charts?

Yes I seen that but it is missing the awake bar graph which is the important one. I could use that along with the screen on bar graph to decipher when the devices is awake but not in use and narrow down the wake causes. I'm shocked this info that used to be built into android is missing from this device or android version. Any chance it is somewhere else I'm not thinking to look for it or a way to get the info into one or the other of these two battery info things?

for the quick circle case, how do you keep the watch face on the whole time

If I'm understanding the question right I don't think you would want it always on. As it sounds like screen on constantly. Plus that would also be no deep sleep to keep it updated. Either one would kill the battery really fast. My apologies if I have misunderstood the question.

Guys I need and answer quick. Why I can't install any app I have on my phone sdcard?
After the app launches I can't click the button (install ) only the cancel button works :/

I tried with 2/3 different apps and it's the same :(

Something is wrong or blocking me to install any app.

Are you using a screen dimmer app like Lux? Turn it off temporarily. It creates a screen overlay and a security feature of Android is protecting you from hitting install.

Yup as that lol I as freaking out because I didn't know what as the problem xD I disable and worked :)

I've been noticing a buzzing/whining sound coming from the top of my G4 (probably the camera) when auto-brightness is active and the screen is on. It is really noticeable when I am talking on the phone. Does your G4 do this?

In lux there's also Settings, advanced, miscellaneous, use alternative overlay.

Nope - that sounds like a phone defect.

Do you have a screen protector on? If so maybe it's not seated right?

Other than that this is the first I've read of that issue.

I don't have a screen protector. I do have a simple Goospery case though.

Update: It does not seem to be an auto-brightness problem. The buzzing sound happens when the brightness is lowered to around 15-25% (like when one puts the headset next to his or her head). 15-17% seem to be when the whining is the loudest. The issue can be reproduced by manually adjusting the brightness to those levels.

Do you have a spare battery to try? Just a thought, although not a great one.

If it's really bugging you then I think it's time to try to get it replaced, as that's definitely a hardware issue. You may or may not have an easy time with that process.

On the other hand, if that's the only thing that's bugging you, then maybe try Lux - you can actually train it to not set your brightness to that range.

Love LG G4...EXCEPT...it is self dimming even when auto dim is not checked. Anyway to override that feature. I am sure it is a heat control thing. But none of my other flagship phones with QHD and faster chip and GPU settings do this. After three races of BBR or a couple of RR3 races and it will automatically dim itself up 50% even if the auto dim is OFF and the power saving mode setting when gaming is NOT checked. This phone is great otherwise but useless to me with this behavior! Please help! If I can't figure this out, I am ditching the phone and it will likely be my last go with LG.

I don't have a spare battery, so that isn't really an option...

I tried Lux and am satisfied with the results so far. Since I've already gotten one replacement, I want to hold off on getting another unless it is absolutely necessary. I don't want to trade one problem for yet another. I'll put it through its paces and if no other issues show up, I'll keep it.

On a related note, since I'm probably going to be using Lux for as long as I own this phone, do you have any suggestions on settings that you feel are a must for G4 owners? Also, what does "use alternative overlay" actually do?

Alternative Overlay, I believe, allows you to do non-playstore installs of apk files - otherwise the system tries to keep you safe from apps doing hidden screen overlay hack installs.

Lux uses an overlay to accomplish darker-than-dark screens (for nighttime reading). The alternative overlay is supposed to accomplish this without triggering the security issue. (If it still keeps you from installing an apk, just disable lux during the install.)

I don't use any special settings - I just installed using the wizard and I'm happy.

OK. I'll ask the obvious question - why isn't "alternative overlay" on by default if it solves what looks like a common problem?

It's only common if you install APKs from alternate sources (not from the Play Store). So, it isn't a common problem overall. Most people will only install apps via the Play Store.

I tend to agree... but I'm guessing that Lux has found it's not as effective for achieving the darker-than-dark effect.

One question: the camera software G4> when does he feel resets options. You must change your settings again. Why do not you mind?! can not specify a particular interval varies from week to week
