I haven’t seen a press release, but there are reasons to have bezels, several of which have been listed in this thread.

I have to agree with this. Even with the back and menu buttons on the note 7, it was hard to find a place to hold the phone besides holding it on the edge.. We're all going to be lost when there are no bezels and you're launching apps and pausing videos and typing things accidentally just by holding the phone.

I think the bezel, although nothing there, gives the phone good balance and comfortability in my hand. I like it honestly.

I know I'm crazy, but I don't care what the phone looks like. I only care how it performs.

That's not a shot at anyone who cares about the look of their phone; I was just stating my preference.

Omg, same here. I'm finding this more and more... I am really over how the device looks, I just want it to WORK. I think the Pixels are both beautiful.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I happen to enjoy the top and bottom bezels very much. Switched from 9 years of iPhone to the Note 7, then the S7, then the Note 7 and now the Pixel XL. I like that I can take the phone out of my pocket by the bezels, and holding the phone by it's bezels while watching a video or playing a game.

I also like the extra driveway space it has afforded me. I just park my car on the bottom bezel, roommate parks on the top one. And now our driveway as soo much room for activities!

I'm a bezel fan. Trying to use my droid turbo for the last two years without one made me appreciate it on the xl. It's much easier to go one handed with it. Without the bezel your thumb can get cramped reaching for buttons on the bottom... Try it... Pretend you need to reach the bottom most of the bezel one handed. Hated the droid turbo for that

Habits are hard to break. I keep waving my hand over the screen trying to get it to turn on.....

The bezels don't bother me. Having also an iPhone 7 plus it's got the same size screen and is considerably larger then the XL.
