I upgraded my Note 2 to KitKat 4.4.2 and now it cannot USB connect to my iMac OS X 10.8.5, can I fix this without a root?

Upgraded my Note 2 to KitKat 4.4.2 and now it cannot USB connect to my iMac OS X 10.8.5

Hi all,

When my Note 2 was on 4.3, it can connect happily to my OS X and I can make backups on Kies for Mac.

Now, there is no more connection to my iMac after upgrading to 4.4.2... so is this the end of life for my Note 2? Will this also happen to Note 3 or Note4 running 4.4.4?

Can I fix this without rooting my Note 2?
