Re: [ICS][4.0.4][5/23] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW
I have noticed one problem with the update and skype. I am going to try and attach a screen shot as well as a poorly labled section of what I noticed today. Skype really heats up the phone and drains the battery something nasty.
1. On wifi all morning sitting on my desk. Google updates nothing really running.
2. 4G on a Ventrilo call and skype conversation while I am out for lunch. Phone is burning hot.
3. 3G connection with skype running. Phone cools down and hardly any battery loss.
4. 4G just to see what happens with skype and 4G running. Phone warms up but not burning hot and decent power drain. Data transmit and receive lights on near constant.
5. 3G with skype off. Battery seems to charge back up a bit.
6. 4G just to see put 4G and skype back on and sit on desk with screen off. Phone warms up and within almost an hour phone calls to my attention with 14% battery warning.
A major difference between .2 and .4 though is the Android OS process used to be 2nd only to the screens power drain and now it is way down the list. Battery lasts forever on idle without skype running. But drops like lead in water if skype is running. Don't know if this is useful information to anyone but kind of interesting. I will probably have to stop using skype entirely on the phone.
I'd try using the verizon skype but the thing doesn't sync or stay connected at all. However it seems to think it's connected so I don't know when I'm actually offline. But it has always done that for me on all my phones that I put it on.
