[ICS][4.0.4][4/2] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][5/23] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW

I have noticed one problem with the update and skype. I am going to try and attach a screen shot as well as a poorly labled section of what I noticed today. Skype really heats up the phone and drains the battery something nasty.

1. On wifi all morning sitting on my desk. Google updates nothing really running.

2. 4G on a Ventrilo call and skype conversation while I am out for lunch. Phone is burning hot.

3. 3G connection with skype running. Phone cools down and hardly any battery loss.

4. 4G just to see what happens with skype and 4G running. Phone warms up but not burning hot and decent power drain. Data transmit and receive lights on near constant.

5. 3G with skype off. Battery seems to charge back up a bit.

6. 4G just to see put 4G and skype back on and sit on desk with screen off. Phone warms up and within almost an hour phone calls to my attention with 14% battery warning.

A major difference between .2 and .4 though is the Android OS process used to be 2nd only to the screens power drain and now it is way down the list. Battery lasts forever on idle without skype running. But drops like lead in water if skype is running. Don't know if this is useful information to anyone but kind of interesting. I will probably have to stop using skype entirely on the phone.

I'd try using the verizon skype but the thing doesn't sync or stay connected at all. However it seems to think it's connected so I don't know when I'm actually offline. But it has always done that for me on all my phones that I put it on.

Check the link I posted and the OP ;). Verizon's support page is live, meaning it's either (1) rolling out right now, or (2) actually rolling out imminently.

Also, this is the same update featured in this thread, for the name and size are the same--it just reads larger (41.7 v. 38.9 when you click on it/it's downloaded) on computers when downloaded (the reason of which is above my intelligence level).

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][5/29] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW

dmmarck, i did check the link. It just takes me to the same old verizon page with "benefits of software upgrade," which, when clicked, takes to ICL53 page.
Yes, your link does show "software update coming soon" Which I think is new.

Which link takes you to the ICL53 page? The one I put in the OP goes here:

Software Update: Galaxy Nexus by Samsung - Coming Soon!

I've also linked to the AC news article.

What do you mean OP? sorry
Even that new link only takes me to the old Verizon page. Not sure why.
Strange directly on the verizonwireless site, i don't see this notice.

Odd. Working for me. Do you see 2 pdfs there, documenting the benefits and instructions?

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][5/29] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW

Where it says "benefits of software upgrade" If you click there, it says ICL53F

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][5/29] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW

Yes, the PDF link on the top takes me to page that has ICL53F info,
the other PDF is the old instructions on downloading.

I'm stumped, I updated to .4 and everything seemed fine. So I thought. I did the update zip thing and presto updated to .4 but no root. Rom Manager fails to boot into recovery , it worked the first time thats how I was able to open the zip file, the first time. Now it does nothing for me. TI backup says yes for root. superuser doesn't let me update binary, no busybox- gaining root access failed. busybox installer failed install although it says device is rooted. I downloaded the updated zip file that came up recently to root and I cannot get to it. I get to recovery mode and all I get it is the green guy belly up red triangle. Initially I was able to navigate while in recovery, now nothing. I've uninstalled and install a couple of times, sucks. Ideas? By the way, Rom Manager says error occured while attempting to run privileged commands?

You need to flash CWM via fastboot, and then flash the new SU file in order to preserve root. It should be within this topic, and there are a few topics in the rom subforum with the file and detailing how to do that.

When you install an update, it "uproots" you.

Just reroot

So this is the "exact same" thing that we have been manually flashing the last month? I just did the update over the weekend. Is there anything in this official patch that would be worth resetting to stock and taking the OTA version?
