[ICS][4.0.4][4/2] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][4/2/] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW

Not sure anyone can help, but i am unlocked and rooted using Wugs toolkit, and i can't boot into recovery. Both root manager and the three button power on end up giving me sad Droid when i choose recovery.

edit update...

Used ROM manager to flash cwm (5.5.0.4) and the phone will now go into recovery from ROM manager.
The update fails though, with an assertion error. Something is not lining up.

The phone needs the stock recovery in order to push the update to the phone... right now you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed through ROM Manager.

If you want to keep the phone stock and rooted and apply the 4.0.4 update... then follow the steps in the first post... or you can use Wugs toolkit again to unroot the phone... put the stock recovery back on the phone... accept the OTA update from Verizon (or manually flash it using this thread)... and then use Wugs toolkit again to root the phone and put back the custom recovery (ClockworkMod).

Or there's the option of just installing a custom ROM from where you're at now (they're all built using 4.0.4)

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][4/2/] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW

Hi Guys...need your help.

I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
4.0.2
ICL53F

I used the Galaxy Nexus Casual R117 root program to Root my phone without unlocking/wiping. I did not instal the clock work recovery. Only rooted.

Today I have been getting the request to update to IMM76K but when I select to install it restarts my phone and hangs at the Google screen. I tried running a program called OTA Rootkeep which backed up my root and then allowed me to "un-root" my phone. So now when I run the OTA Rootkeeper program it shows my status as "un-rooted."

When I now try to run the IMM76K OTA update I still hang at the same google screen.

Please let me know how to proceed at this point. I do not want to wipe this phone and I would like to re-enable root after getting IMM76K installed by using the OTA Rookeeper app.

Thanks for the help!

Andre

Do you have the stock recovery or a custom recovery?

I believe I have no recovery? I didn't set up any sort of recover...just ran the option to root the phone with no wiping necessary.

On Wug's? You have a custom recovery then. You need the stock one. It must be flashed via fastboot/Wug's.

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][4/2] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW G

Not sure what you mean by WUGs...

Below is the link where I downloaded the rooting application. I only ran the root / without wipe portion of the app...nothing else.

[Windows][Linux][Mac][One-Click] Root - CWM - Galaxy Nexus 4.0.1 & 4.0.2 -NO WIPE- - xda-developers

I am not very familiar with rooting droid phones but I can follow any instructions your give me to get it working.

So as of right now:

I have OTA Rootkeeper installed
I have "un-rooted" the phone using OTA Rootkeeper

I also have not "unlocked" the phone as far as I know....the Rooting application above says your can root without wiping / unlocking

When I try the OTA update...I get stuck at the Google icon.

If I pull the battery the phone functions fine at build 4.02 but I get update reminders every 5 minutes.

Hmmm. That's an interesting thing. You can try to install it manually, but it will require a custom recovery (CWM) in order to flash it.

Or, you can unroot your device (reverse whatever you did with that app) and try to take it.

EDIT:

This is Wug's ==> http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...nexus-root-toolkit-v1-4-updated-6-5-12-a.html

I've never used that XDA one click, so I suggest asking the creator of that for help if there's an issue with that specifically.

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][4/2] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW G

The one click app didn't have an un-root option...but that OTA Rootkeeper app does...so I ran that one. But it still didn't work

Windows or Mac?

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][4/2] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW G

I could create a CWM using the same application I used to root...would that help?

For installing the OTA manually, yes. For "taking" the update from the cloud (accepting install when it pops up), no.

Wug's is for Windows. Download it and utilize its features like unrooting and ensuring that no custom recovery is present.

I know some have had issues with a rooted phone taking it, but theoretically it's not the "root" that causes conflict but the presence of a custom recovery.

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][4/2] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW G

but does Wugs require a phone wipe when rooting?

One user reported that it did wipe, so you should back your stuff up of you use it.

I suggest installing a custom recovery like you would normally, following the guides found here and linked in the original post, and then using my instructions to manually flash the update.

U can back up using his tool box to your PC then restore after wards also. And rooting doesn't wipe just unlocking wipes phones

Re: [ICS][4.0.4][4/2] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW G

Hi guys...so I got my galaxy nexus rooted to 4.04.

but I went into apps --- > superuser --> and clicked to disable it (stupid me) and now I can't get it to appear again. When I go to marketplace it shows superuser as installed...but when I try to run a program that requires access to superuser like barnacle wifi tether...it says that it is not getting superuser access.

Does anyone know how I can get the superuser program back into my apps list??
Please help

Re: [ICS][4.0.4] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

-An updated radio to help with the low signal issues
-Some visual tweaks were added like quick volume toggles on the power menu
-The standard speed tweaks and bug fixes
-Tweaked auto-brightness
-Slightly faster camera performance
-An updated News & Weather widget
-Whatever else you find ;)

Where do I get the News & Weather app for Android 4.0.4? My Razr Maxx is not rooted, and I don't want to root it to have to get the app. Can someone here provide me with just the apk from this ROM?
