If Bionic is indeed cancelled, what's your next phone?

I want the Atrix on Verizon.

Right, IMO that has been the best phone out for some time. Nice to be a Atrix owner, but I am not. I think the bionic is undergoing changes for the better, and will still show up, even if it's the targa.....something sweet is comming. I hope a targa named bionic .

TBolt - Kickstand (Had/have this on an old Archos PMP and it is a great feature if watching videos.)

LG - Rummored to be the teacher's pet as far as getting Netflix first.

Yea, did not put the kick stand on their because you can get a case for any phone with a stand and getting something first is not a good reason for the investment, they all will get Netflix soon enough. I meant mostly why you would pick that phone over the other three.

Right, sorry. I didn?t realize this was supposed to be ?Hand O Death?s personal reasoning for rating phones?? list.

Personally, I don?t do phone cases. So the only one with a kickstand is the Tbolt. In addition, there are cases available to provide wireless charging, so by your own criteria, that shouldn?t apply as a positive for the LG?

As for *all* of them getting Netflix ?eventually? well that?s a gamble in and of itself. Further, when phone?s lives are measured in timespans of a year or two, ?eventually? for a feature that is compelling can be a deciding factor.

In any case, the info (and FUD) on all the options is widely available all over the net. Pick the available phone that you like the best.

I don't do cases either. Makes them bigger, they get to looking like O.J. Simpson's bloody glove after a while, hold more germs, allows you to trash a brand new looking phone 2 years later, and so on.
But some phones are more fragile than others. I have carried my DROID in my pocket for almost 2 years now caseless. There is no gold left on the camera button, some of the black is gone on a corner, and she is still a great unit.

Samsung Galaxy S2 has my attention if it comes to Verizon this summer (I'm betting on fall).

Otherwise, I'm going to wait till my upgrade is up next year and get whatever dual core with LTE phone is out by then...especially if it's by HTC.

This... I was planning on getting the S2 over the Bionic anyway (it's really a better phone spec wise), the only thing from making that a sure decision is when the S2 will make it to the US on Verizon. Rumors have it releasing here anywhere from April to December so who knows. Something else might pop up before the S2 makes it here.

I'd expect the S2 not to get to VZW until late summer or fall (like it's a yearly refresh).

I've been planning to get the DX2, but if Targa looks nice enough I may hold out for that. Either way this will be my last non-developer phone, so hopefully Moto moves in the direction of releasing one of those - I really don't like Samsung products, so I guess I'd end up with Sony or possibly LG.

I'm willing to wait up to 6 weeks for news on a new Moto/HTC 4G dual core device. If there's still nothing out, I'll move my (and possibly my family's) account to Sprint and go for EVO 3Ds.

I have enjoyed my VZW service over the years, but they are completely fumbling in 2011.

Well I jumped ship, I was going to wait it out for the Bionic but I have changed my mind. Letstalk has a coupon for 20% off smartphones for their facebook fans right now so the Thunderbolt is at $139.99. I did sign a 2-year contract to get that price, but I am now locked into having unlimited 4G at $30 a month also.

As far as the battery issues I can handle them, as it is I am constantly charging my OG Droid since I have it rooted and overclocked. And if and when the Bionic comes out I can sell my Thunderbolt, get good money for it and buy the Bionic at full price.

Easy ST, I was not saying you were wrong, just explaining why I did not mention them myself. I just wanted to point out the points that each phone has that can not be changed. And as far as Netflix is concerned, it is not confirmed on any device, just rumored to be on the Rev first. But yea your right, the nice thing about Android is you can pick and choose from a variety.

If your really on the fence and do not care about the 4G I would suggest just getting a used Dinc or DX and waiting until a phone you really want comes out.

Alright Hand O Death. Hit me with your opinion. Thinking about jumping this weekend on a DInc from Verizon with a 1 year contract (before that's over) and waiting until Verizon gets their stuff straighted out with the 4G network and the 4G phone fiasco. What you think?

I would suggest getting a used Dinc or DX on eBay or CL and holding your new contract until the phone you wants comes out. I got the Mrs.'s DX and it will hold me over until the phone I want comes out. The only thing that MAY make me buy a 4G early is if I want to beat the tiered pricing plans, but if you are going to buy a DX or a Dinc, you could probably get one for $150-$200 online somewhere and just activate it yourself on the Verizion website.

Really hope this helps, because even if you want to sign a contract with a 3G device I would wait for the Inc2 or DX2.

I've decided to push back on looking to upgrade the phone.

I'll stick with my current Pre+. Last night I got around to overclocking it and now that it is running at 1 GHz, it is much snappier in webpage loading.

I'll wait for something truly appealing to come out in the summertime. Or possibly get the upcoming Pre3

I to have a Pre+(over-clocked at 1ghz) and am trying to stick it out. I actually have the problem where my ringtones and music no longer work on the phone, just system sounds which is really annoying and dont know how much i can take of this missing practically every call. Im deciding of 2 ways to go...either hopefully stick it out for the Bionic(if not dead) or since i have 2 contracts coming up to an end(one in april one in Oct) no one in my family are going to be using so I'm thinking of upgrading to either the LG Revolution or Samsung Charge despite the single core processors just for the time being until the Targa hits the shelves and ill use my Oct upgrade to grab that beast. I do use the charging touchstone for the palm pre, and well i love the damn thing, so the LG revo pokes out a lil at me. Even having bing on it, the phone is pretty darn sexy. The samsung's charge's AMOLED screen is really the only feature on the phone that really stands out for well...anyone really. No way in hell i want a Thunderbolt though, the name is friggin stupid(as most are in most new releases but some better then others). But its just been to flashed around and well im tired of it. So im still torn in the end about my decisions. Stick it out and see what motorola says or upgrade to the LG revo, grab some 4g 1ghz of fun just until the targa...hmm.

Well if they did something stupid and announced the end of unlimited within a few weeks, I'd hold out until a few days before the date to see if hope beyond hope the Bionic actually released within that time, otherwise at least the Droid Charge would be out, which I'd rather have over the T-bolt. As I've said elsewhere, however, I HIGHLY doubt that VZW would kill unlimited before all 4 device partners have had an LTE release. Consider how deeply the end of unlimited is affecting all of our buying decisions, and imagine how pissed a manufacturer would be at the spike in their competitors sales before the cutoff and resulting slump after if they did not have a device out by the time tiered took over. Hopefully that means we'll see either the Bionic/Etna or the Targa before the unlimited option goes away, considering that VZW has said in the past that MOTO is akin to a preferred manufacturer.

Maybe the rumors about an LTE Galaxy S2 are true, however. If that's the case and it comes out before the tiered takeover, I would very likely get that over the Bionic, and perhaps even the Targa. I'd just have to wait and see if it had the same software issues the original did. Hardware-wise though, it beats the Bionic, and is a beautiful device with the best screen out there.

Targa or S2...Whichever comes first is what I will get. The Bionic and S2 were my choices and if the Targa is now coming as Bionic that's fine. I can wait a little longer I guess.

If the Bionic is cancelled then DINC2 or I want to see the SonyEricsson Xperia Play.LTE,though nice,is not the end all for me.Nothing would make me consider a Samsung.
