IF the 'BOLT ends up with battery life similar to or slightly worse than an EVO...

Would not deter me whatsoever. Come on this is a mini computer for petes sake. Are we to expect 24-48 hrs? Get a BB if that's what you want. As we as consumers continue to push the envelope for more to be done with this hardware, it's goona take a power hit. I beleive if I can get 8-10 hours, I am good to go, becuase I can get to a charger by then.

All this power stuff is rumors etc. the Panda even said its good considering what pulling down 21 mbps..

Bring it!

I'd like to see you repeat ^ 6 months after owning an Evo, T-Bolt, or another battery-sucking phone. 8-10hrs is doing great if you use the phone or apps at all. However, if I'm surfing the net, downloading songs, using video chat, and playing Angry Birds I can kill an Evo in an hour. Two hours at the max.

I own a Dinc which is known not to have the best batterylife. Get rid of some of the apps, don't sync everything under the sun, and you get more battery life. However you made my point as well. You are using as a computer, so can you really expect longer battery life?

I only ask, becuase i try to be realistic when talkign about battery life. Sure I want more, but also knows it goes with the fact of what your doing.

The point is that everyone can understand using the phone as a mini computer and only expecting limited battery life. But the fact is when you get down to it is that this is a PHONE and that one time that you need to make an emergency call and you don't have enough battery left to complete the call, then that is an issue!

With that said.....
Since having my Dinc, I am alway aware of my battery life and if that means keeping it on the charger, just to make sure it doesn't run out, then that is what I will do. New ROMs and kernels, will help but battery life awareness is still critical to never running out of power!

I don't really care if this is gunna be the batt life of the TB. This is basically the life of my year and half old Droid. I'm used to carrying chargers. My old '86 Suburban charges my Droid just fine.

Considering the iphone used to be one of the WORST phones at battery life and is now one of the best, this is BS. Some phones are coming with bigger batteries now just for this reason and it's almost a necessity. I dont want ANY phone bad enough to have to keep switching batteries out all day.. and I learned that with the Evo.

That's horrible, I thought my captivate was bad.

I have no problem with battery consumption anymore. Three batteries, two chargers, and a charging dock. Voila.

I love how people justify the poor battery life of an android by dragging around multiple batteries.

Folks this is not a solution. Stop buying crappy phones until they can make them last a full day. You give the manufactures no reason to improve them this way.

Ditto, although I would love better battery life. If the Iphone can do it, then so can Android headsets.

Better battery life would be nice, but my buddy hates it when I hit the market and grab a free app version of whatever he's showing me that he just bought on his iPhone...

It sounds like there is a middle ground. I don't expect it to be as good the iphone but there sounds like a vast difference between an iphone and an evo.

It's not a matter of "crappy". It's a matter of balancing your cell phone requirements (including battery life) when you make a selection. One person's "crappy" is another's "playground".

We'll see if you feel that way when you get it, actually have to use it and your battery is dead before noon. I gave Sprint AND HTC pure HELL about my battery on my Evo. It got to the point where they just gave me a spare battery but that just wasnt a good solution IMO. If all of these other manufacturers can figure out ways to get good battery life i'm sure HTC could do it too if they put more effort into it. Same with the crappy camera/video. They suck you in by telling you that its 8 megapixel.. most people not realizing that has nothing to do with the camera quality get sucked in. Then you take pics and video and realize that it SUCKS.

I still like my Evo but there are definitely a lot of things HTC could stand to improve, build quality being one of em. All I can say is everyone better pray there's a drastic difference between using wimax on the Evo and using LTE on the Thunderbolt when it comes to battery consumption. With wimax on and actually using it... 3-4 hours TOPS.

I just don't understand why people would accept crappy battery life. Sure, there are solutions, but it shouldn't be a problem. Both Motorola and Apple have found solutions, why can't HTC?

I think they will. Who knows, maybe that's causing the delay (amongst a million other rumors). If HTC has to toss in a 1900 mAh battery in the sucker to bring it to reasonable levels, then I'm sure they will. Who knows, maybe they'll even package it with a spare battery. OK, that last one is wishful thinking. :p

Lol I think both are wishful thinking. There's no way to cram a 1900mAh battery in there. Unless there was some revolutionary discovery in battery tech.

Hopefully there's something though, a 1600mAh would give us an extra 14% of time. Of course this is assuming the batteries are of the same quality.

Battery life is a problem because battery tech has not kept up with the tech needs of devices. Sure, larger batteries help but that means thicker/larger devices and we all want thin devices. So, it's a compromise between size and power.

Motorola did it with the Bionic and Atrix. (they both have 1930 mAh batteries).
