IF the 'BOLT ends up with battery life similar to or slightly worse than an EVO...

It'll definitely deter me. Coming from the Evo im NOT going through that again. I'm sorry but I just think its ridiculous to have to carry around extra batteries, chargers everywhere you go just to be able to keep your phone on all day. I'm not dealing with that again, no sir.

From what I've read, using some simple battery saving tips will make the EVO last all day no problem with moderate usage.

Take it from me, most of that is BS. The ONLY thing that makes it possible is rooting the phone, flashing a modified kernel and keeping literally all of the things that make the phone a smartphone off. All of those people that talk about getting two days battery life out of the Evo I can guarantee you they barely even use the phone. I have to keep Tango off, yahoo off, qik off, 4G off, etc. If I were to actually USE half the features of the phone during the day it'd be dead in a matter of a few hours.

The SBC kernels have been a god send, but there have been several people that reported that using them mucked up their phones so its risky. The main thing they say do is disable mobile data.. which basically means none of your apps or email update in the background until you turn the screen on. For a smart phone thats pretty wack.

from my understanding, he is a tester for verizon. he is a great insider, he has been sayin the battery life is good.

Wow, even HE says he's not a tester for Verizon...He also says the battery life is like all the other 3G phones of late, which means Evo-Like...He further says (and I'll quote it) "LTE drinks battery like a Hemi drinks gas".

You must be one hell of an optimist.

If my job didn't give me the capability to charge at will, I agree, the Evo would suck, and I'd sure as hell stay away from the T-Bolt.

^ What he said.

Some questions if it's ok-

Did you have your evo set to Wifi always? And if so were you almost always on your work or home Wifi networK?

Also did you have your email/twitter/facebook/weather app updating frequently or at longer intervals?

I'll jump in with my experience since I'm on right now...

My WiFi seems to use more juice than my 3G, so my WiFi is off unless I am plugged in. I don't use facebook or twitter, so those apps aren't using any juice. My email is every 15 minutes (one account but Gmail is push) between the hours of 9am to 10pm, then it's every 4hrs. Doesn't matter...the battery doesn't last long while being used. I plug it in while driving, and plug it in at least twice at work.

Definitely YES.

I'm on my second HTC phone (currently Dinc), and won't go to a third if battery life turns out to be the same, or worse (!?!), than phones HTC released last year. Everybody has their own opinion about it, but it seems to me that HTC completely ignores battery life problems. Plenty of rumors last year going around about supposed updates coming to improve battery life, but the improvement never came. At least Motorola tries to do things to make it better, such as including higher capacity batteries. Seems ridiculous to me that we should consider it acceptable to have to pay for these higher capacity batteries separately from the high price we are already paying for the phones.

Just my two cents.

nope, i always buy an extended battery.

I would too, but they're usually so much "fatter" than the default battery. This phone is going to be heavy to begin with - an extended battery would not only make it heavier but they are also more bulky with an extended battery.

My Blackberry Tour's battery sucks as it is. I work at 12 hour shift at a hospital so I can understand if sometimes its losing power due to radio searching, but unplugging it at 5PM and plugging it back in at 8AM its usually dead or 10%. So I can deal with ****ty batteries. Hell I'll just bring a USB cable to work.

I do 4, 10's and my Evo won't make it through a shift without being plugged in...Yep, take a USB cable

I just realized many people mentioned having more than one battery. With a blackberry, we did have the option, but the boot-up after a battery pull is horrendous. Seems like very sunny skies all of a sudden...

lol yea is long is the boot up is less then half an hour I am in... I have to quick pull my Storm 2-4 times a day to keep it running (note I did not say well:'() so I don't mind swapping batteries once a day.

My EVO's battery life at launch: 4-6 hrs
My EVO's battery life now: 24-30 hrs

Any questions?

Yea.... don't turn the phone on for 24 hrs..;)

I'm guessing you have the phone undervolted with an extended battery.. custom rom/theme?

yeah, just one... what if anything did you do to fix the problem?

Either he's using a modified kernel, an extended battery or both. Whenever someone makes one of these claims ask for a screen shot of the battery usage screen to see exactly how much they used the phone during that time. I'm willing to bet that Phone Idle and Standby time FAR outweigh anything else. I can get 24 hours out of mine too with the SBC kernel but like I said, thats if I hardly use the phone during the day. I unplugged my phone at 6 am, if I dont forget im going to come back here in about 8 hours and give a screen shot of my battery status. Since I dont use the phone much while im at work im going to show you exactly how they get these 24+ hour battery lives. By hardly using the phone at all.

And with that being said, I could turn on qik and tango right now and my phone would be dead before noon even with the modified kernel. With these phones, thats just something you're going to have to get used to. It's either get used to the spare battery routine, get one of those horrid extended batteries that make the phone twice as thick, root it and modify it and not use the phone much, or carry a charger around everywhere you go.

Would not deter me whatsoever. Come on this is a mini computer for petes sake. Are we to expect 24-48 hrs? Get a BB if that's what you want. As we as consumers continue to push the envelope for more to be done with this hardware, it's goona take a power hit. I beleive if I can get 8-10 hours, I am good to go, becuase I can get to a charger by then.

All this power stuff is rumors etc. the Panda even said its good considering what pulling down 21 mbps..

Bring it!
