Re: Who's getting the 6p?
Nexus 6P is too ugly in my opinion with that camera bump and normally I would say power, price, functionality, and stock android would out way the lessor design and I might consider it. BUT, I am tired of compromise. I either love the design and live with a crappy OEM OS overlay and wonky OS quirks with gimmicky features (here is looking at you Samsung) or I dislike the design and love everything else. With me ending up buying phones in either of those categories, but you know what.... Smart Phones and Android have matured, the market is saturated, prices are dropping, carriers are losing their hold on what is made, manufacturers have enough easily available parts and experience to make a beautiful design, that is very powerful, and can put a matured fully stock Android experience on it with more then enough usable and quality features (fingerprint scanner, great camera, expandable storage, etc.). All at a reasonable price. I am dissapointed that Google of all companies put the 6P out there, when they can do so much better.
So I know I am going to get flamed from the Nexus loyal on my opinion. Yes, I know, the Nexus has never been about beautiful design. Yes, I know it is cheaper then the "flagships". But we are at a stage in smartphones where we should expect more, even from a Nexus.
My prediction, the Nexus 6P will sell well by Google's standards. Enough power users and Nexus/Google fans will step up. But this time around, it was a prime candidate to be so much more then just a reference device for stock Android M. It was a chance for Google to show how it should be done.
