I'm leaving the Galaxy S6 Edge+ for the iPhone

Yes. It's equal to my old iPhone 6, but the 6 Plus lasts longer with a bigger battery. My point is that the Edge + has an even bigger battery then those and should be lasting even longer. If yours is comparable with your wife's, then you further prove my point.

What point is that? That a phone with a much larger display and faster processor gets the same battery life as an iPhone with a smaller display and slower processor?

Battery life is also heavily dependent on signal strength. Mine is always great, so it sips battery.
If your signal sucks, it'll suck battery searching for signal.

That just proves MY point, battery life is great.

And how's the fast charging on the iPhone?

Smaller battery, so faster than normal. Depends on the charger you use. Regular iPhone charger probably 2 hours. iPad charger maybe an hour and a half from dead.

Glad you're happy and glad it's working for you.

Typical responses from those that have too much of their worth tied up in a CELL PHONE.
Scotty is a good guy and contributes positively to every forum he is on. He isn't bashing anything, just saying the phone isn't for him.
I don't always agree completely with him but respect what he has to say.
Scary that everyone needs to love this thing...don't ya think?
Here's a fact that may make some of the Edge 6+ owners Twitch.....ready? A lot of people like other phones better.

Yes, I know. Good Riddance. If anyone cares, here's why:

I really really really wanted to keep the Sammy S6 Edge +. Really, but I can't stand the battery life. It's worse than any Android phone I've had since the Droid Charge (which was also a Sammy device). Yes. I've FDR'ed it several times. I even made sure it was updated. I've done everything I can short of turning things off to improve battery life. Why should I turn things off? I want GPS active the entire day. I want my Bluetooth on. Why sacrifice that which makes it a Smartphone when I don't have to.

Here's yesterday's account:
  • I took the iPhone off the charger yesterday at 0430.
  • I watched 2+ hours of Netflix throughout the day.
  • My mom had knee replacement surgery, so I've been calling and talking to her every day. Yesterday we talked for over an hour on my way home from work.
  • I played several games on the phone, Words with Friends, Phrase Wheel, Trivia Crack, and even WSOP Poker several times throughout the day and into the evening.
  • Then I used it as a hotspot for 2+ hours before finally going to bed around 8pm.

All of this I did without turning anything off. GPS stayed on the entire time. It was a normal day at work. No special tweaks.

The iPhone's battery was at 42%! 42! My Sammy would have been dead by the time I got home from work. No hotspot. No evening games. Nothing. It'd have to be plugged in as soon as I arrived, but actually, the hour call to mom wouldn't have lasted an hour.

I just couldn't take it any longer. I had to go back to the iPhone. It works really really great, so I'm all happy now. Well, until the iPhone 7 gets released...

I think it is great. What good is a phone if you can't use it the way you want to? Going to the dark side will get you plenty of incoming from the Fanboys... but thanks for sharing and I agree with everything you wrote...

Lol. That's mean. I do however, wonder why people feel the need to write a break up letter.

I think the OP has a rogue app, or a bad device. I am extremely happy with the battery life on my E+.

Maybe because this is an Android Central forum? Isn't this what we are supposed to do here? Should we be posting pictures of our kids on this forum? He is looking for confirmation on his choice. If he was going from iPhone to Android no one would have a problem with it

This phone has beaten my old iphone 5s, the droid turbo and the samsung Gs6 in terms of battery life.

Your depiction of iphone battery life sounds fake anyway. Seriously.

Beat the Droid Turbo in Battery life???? talk about sounding fake.... Clean it up bro!

Yes it is, and I replied. Not sure where I mention anything anti Apple. I only mentioned that I have not had the same experience.

Yes, the iPhone (especially the 6/6s) is better than any Android phone I ever encountered. It also is more expensive than most, but what you get in terms of battery life and app ecosystem is just impressive. Everyone's mileage varies, but I'd go for an iPhone over an Android device any time. Also in terms of security and timely updates it rules.

I'm glad to see your post, not because I post here often and know anyone personally, but because I am trying to figure out what phone to get next. I have an S4 personally and an S5 for my work phone. Not sure if I want to stay with Samsung, find a different Android or make the switch to iPhone. These break up letters are helpful to me.

It's not.. My edge (granted not the edge+ so I knew to expect mediocre battery life) would never get me through a full day. At the end of my 8 hour work day, of which I get maybe 30 minutes of actual usage of my device, my battery would be at around 15-18%. I usually get off at around 7pm and would always feel the need to charge my phone before even thinking of going out with my friends ... After multiple restores and only installing the basic apps I needed I was finally fed up and switched to an iPhone 6s Plus. Now I stream Spotify for about 3-4 hours a day, text non stop, use voice activated Siri, take pictures and videos, snapchat etc etc all day long... And go to bed at 3 am with about 35-40% battery life. Samsung really dropped the ball trying to be Apple this year around. I still regret trading in my s5 to get that horrible s6 edge.

To each his own. Each person has to try and purchase the phone that works best for them. I tried the GS6 three separate times this year. The battery life was bad, but I could deal with that. What was a problem was callers not being able to hear me (this was an issue on all three phones). I had to let it go. Samsung has not, in general, worked for me recently. And God knows I have tried.

When I read your first post, I knew it had to be the plus. I've had every iPhone up to and including the 6, and none of them could dream of pulling off the life of the 6 plus. I still own my iPhone 6 and it's active on AT&T, but use an M8 for my daily since sound is important to me. It manages very good battery life as well (see below).

I'll give the OP the benefit of the doubt and assume his battery life numbers are accurate. And if that's what is most important to you, then fine, get an iPhone, or an external battery pack, or whatever makes you happy.

But there's a lot more to a phone than battery life. I hate the limitations and lack of customization of iOS, even after it's added a bunch of features that have been on Android for at least a couple of years. (Yes, Android has borrowed from Apple, too.) Android simply lets me make my phone look and work the way I want it to. iPhone makes me work the way Apple wants me to. That difference is far more important to me than battery life, which can be pretty easily addressed in multiple ways: fast charge, in-car chargers, external battery packs, etc.)

You can get cigarette lighter socket chargers for $10 (less, but they're pretty bad). Putting one of those in your car would pretty much take care of the "1 hour call on the way home" problem, wouldn't it? As well as the "arriving home with a dead battery" problem. Kind of sounds like the OP was looking for justification to switch to an iPhone.

I feel your pain. I went through 3 Edge + on Verizon. The battery life was the worst I'd seen on any phone, ever. Ever. It was TERRIBLE. On the last one it got a little better and I learned to live with it, ended up getting some portable chargers on super sale on Amazon and carrying those around.

Then I got the NEXUS 6P. Slap my tushie this phone is awesome!! Excellent battery life.

I just couldn't go back to the Apple ecosystem.

Merry Christmas!
