I'm leaving the Galaxy S6 Edge+ for the iPhone

Just know, going back the other direction is a real bltch. Just switched my wife from iPhone to Android and got even more evidence of Apples walled garden (with armed guards, tanks, watch towers and land mines keeping you in) and it was NOT easy getting her stuff moved over. In fact the only solution for moving sms had me paying $8 to do it.

THAT is why I don't like Apple. It's their way or the highway and once you're vested in their eco system, they make it as difficult as humanly possible to leave it.

No thanks. ...never.

I've never really had a problem switching back and forth. I keep everything in google. Even my iCloud is my google user account, so it's simply a matter of plugging in my same gmail account, and I'm back up and running.

I found this interesting because I was trying to decide between the 6p, 6s plus, and the edge+, I have never had a phone that had sufficient battery life for me except for the droid maxx. However, the quick charging for the edge+ gets rid of a lot of my battery angst, as far as the other stuff mentioned here; I like the security updates of the edge+, I like the Android system---- and I think all phone manufacturers and carriers are getting away from bloat etc. I don't notice any lag in the edge+. All that being said, I enjoy getting other's perspectives on phones, even if they're negative and even if they like iPhones.

I haven't had decent Android battery life since the Razr Maxx. I really didn't have that big of a problem with the Edge + because of the fast charge, but it still lived on a charger. I had a Qi charger at work and beside the bed. The quick charger was setup in the living room and anytime I left the house, I'd stick it on the Quick charger for 30 minutes prior to leaving. So I had it figured out. I guess my point is, I'm lazy and I want someone else to figure it out for me. I just want to wake up, grab my phone, use it all day, and then plug it in when I go to bed. I am able to do that with the iPhone 6s Plus. I was not able to do that with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +.

Everything about the ecosystems being what they are, you have to be able to use which ever phone you go with. I'm able to use either ecosystem and able to live within either and be happy. Are there things wrong with Apple? You bet. Before making a switch, make sure you really want to switch. I hear the 6p gets great battery life, so it might be a better option for you.

Can't be. FDR wipes out all apps and it still sucks. I've always written a breakup letter. ;)

If you're using an app to kill off other apps, there's a big battery waster right there and it's not suggested you kill apps off as well.

Once Marshmallow hits the Device with Doze (and if Samsung doesn't muck it up), battery life should go through the roof.

I have a Nexus 6P (you really should try it) and my battery life outlasts any of my friends Android phones without Marshmallow and also outlasts iPhone users as well. This is the first Android phone I've been able to leave off charge over night and only have 5-6% battery drain where others that I have had would drain about 20% just sitting there over night.

I've never been a Samsung fan within the Android community. I feel like they make some of the worst Android devices out there. All of their products have been subpar to the other phones on the market from first hand experience. The community as a whole overrates Samsung. They shouldn't be as popular as they are.

I have the galaxy s6 and I agree that the battery life is sub par. However it actually makes a huge difference to turn on the normal power saver. I find I get about 2.5 hrs of screen on time without it activated, but over 4 with it on.

I also bought the moko battery case from amazon which gives the phone an additional 130% charge. Also if I know I'll be away from a charger for an extended period I'll take my anker 13000mah battery pack as well.

Battery life aside tho.....I'll be keeping the s6 for a long time now. I got the gear vr on Friday and its awesome!

People should go with whatever you want. I gave away my iphone and got a moto x pure, best phone I have ever had. Everyone is not the same though.

If you had posted this on macrumors moving in the opposite direction you would be spewed with all kinds of hate. I dumped ios but still have a mac.

I have gone the other direction in the iPhone forums. Most recently back in July of this year when I moved back to the Android ecosystem. I moved back because of iOS hotspot issues. They still exist, I just found a work aroun... wait. Isn't that what I'm trying to avoid? See. There is no perfect phone.

Most just said good luck. Some tried to help me out, but a lot said, I'd be back, etc.

This matches my experience with both a Note 4 and Note 5 in comparison to the iPhone 6s Plus. People don't want to believe how fantastic the battery life is on an iPhone 6s Plus. Oh well, doesn't matter to me. I've done the Android thing for 3 years and I am sick of many aspects of Android life. So, I gave the iPhone and spin and I am happy. No this doesn't matter to others, but it matters to me. I shouldn't have to use battery packs and car chargers and I don't now. Yeah the customization on Android is great, no doubt about that. However, that just isn't what is important to me. I want a full days use, not having to tweak this or turn this off. I want to just use it and let the phone handle the rest. I've never gotten that experience with Android. Though it hasn't been all bad and for those that the Android works... GREAT that's what makes the world go round.... choice!

Yeah and I do that overnight while I am sleeping and I've yet to EVER need to charge during the day considering I end my day with about 40% battery life. So that is a moot point!

There are just as many iPhone users that complain about the iPhone's battery life as there are Android users complaining about Android phones. It's all on how you use the phone you have.

I know iPhone 6S+ users at work who live by the charger at their desks because of the horrid battery life they are experiencing or have Mophie Juice packs on their phone.

Maybe I got lucky and got a good iPhone then, because my 6s Plus is twice as good as my Edge + was.

You are blaming Apple because you did not know what you are doing. There are many free means of conversion that Google has made available and to my knowledge Apple has not blocked any of them. The walled garden is nonsense. That's just repeating a line that folks like to repeat. I have gone both to Android and back no issues either way.

Please name ONE method for transferring sms from iPhone to Android...just one.

Oh, and by the the way, denying the walled garden Apple has created with ios just shows either you're an apple hack or YOU have no idea what you're doing.

I have done it about 5 times and no problem...

How? I googled it for HOURS trying everything I came across and ultimately the only thing that worked was getting the iTunes backup file for sms and converting it to XML and then restoring it via sms backup and restore. Isms2droid didn't work, just crashed (and tried it on two different phones) leaving me ultimately having to pay $8 to a website to do the conversion (which then worked).

So, what do you apparently regularly use that is easy peasy?

With contacts/email etc sure, and even easier if the iPhone user knows to store those in gmail rather than locally on the phone (but I have yet to meet an iPhone user that even knows there's a difference and thus they are mostly storing those items locally).

However yes, once you get them into gmail/Google services it is easy...BUT NOT FOR SMS. SMS proved to be a real bltch.

Im not buying Samsung phones for the next several years. My S3 died. My Note 4 had to be replaced 2 times. My Dad's Note 3 died. Totally lost trust in Samsung.

Samsung phone's advantages over the iphone are undeniable tho. The screen is so much better for media. Color is much more vibrant which I like a lot.

I would never ever switch back to apple, like never.... after android spoiled me? no way.

Only 1 possible way I would ever switch and that is if someone (jailbroken or not) made a "Nova Launher" style app with widgets and everything. Just then MAYBE I would ever get an iPhone.

My GS6 is amazing. Best Camera, Best Screen, Best performance (Play N64 with a bluetooth controller that holds the phone? hell yeah) I guess you can't have it all right?

(I did get 4:30 of SoT once on a 12 hour day, trying to find out what went wrong since then hopefully Marshmallow will fix the ram and battery THEN I WILL HAVE IT ALL!!! MUHUHAHAHAHAHA)

Dude there are other Android mobile with great batter life. Secondly how are you even surviving with an iPhone......
