Infinite bootloop- help!

Just received the n6 today and there was a notification to update to 5.1. I downloaded and updated it and now it is in an infinite bootloop- keeps on saying optimising 125 apps. (BTW this was completely stock- I didn't even sign in to my Google account) . I tried recovery mode wipes and endless reboots but nothings working- help please?

I can't imagine that it would have any effect on your warranty, so long as you download and install the correct official OS file.

Absolutely not. Try the root kit first. If you continue to have issues you can get the manufacturer to replace it.

Isn't it an indication of a bad or corrupt download when that happens?

Sorry, but I do understand.

Using the Nexus Root Toolkit, you should be able to easily repair your device, whatever the problem may be. It will reinstall the stock OS. Your only other option is probably to contact whoever you purchased the device from (Google?) and request a replacement.

And also I did not enable developer settings nor did I root my device (it is completely stock) so my bootloader is locked and USB debugging is not enabled

I'm not being funny, but if this is a new defective unit I'd be straight on the phone for a replacement. Who knows what else may be wrong with it.

After all, you're paying for something that doesn't work at the end of the day.

I know what you mean but Itll take a very long time for a replacement (as its Motorola) and I really want to keep the phone )

It sounds like using this toolkit is a bit out of your comfort zone, since you are hesitant to read up on how it is used. I would suggest going back to the retailer and get an exchange.

1) sideload an ota through root toolkit
2)
Wipe data and reset using nexu
S root toolkit
Thing is, my bootloader is locked and USB debugging is disabled.

check this out SOLUTION those stuck in a bootloop with lock… | Nexus 6
get into fastboot mode (Vol Down+Power) before running commands
fastboot format cache
fastboot format userdata

You do not need USB Debugging enabled to reset the device.

I found this to be the most useful. Remember, fastboot and usb debugging are different. You don't have to have anything enabled to boot into fastboot.

You do not need USB Debugging enabled to reset the device.

Seems I solved the problem myself. I used the rootkit- I basically just unlocked the bootloader and then reset it and flashed marshamallow 6.0.1 and I'm gonna relock the bootloader tomorrow. It was easy enough even for a noob like me.
