I'm on BAMF 1.8.6 Remix with the MR2 radio. I have been running it perfectly fine since 1.8.6 came out with probably only 1 reboot per week. Now all of a sudden today I was using my phone and then locked it when I was done. 5 seconds later it rebooted by itself and got stuck in a loop. I took the battery out and let it sit for 10 minutes and rebooted it and got it to start up fine except the radio wouldn't turn back on. I tried turning on and off airplane mode but that didn't work so I restarted it and then all hell broke loose. I can get to cwm recovery but it reboots itself before I can do anything.

What do I do now?! I tried searching for a similar thread but couldn't find anything. I need my phone fixed tonight!!

are you in the bootloader hboot?
If so you are probably reloading your radio everytime.
Pull your sd card and access it from the computer and delete the pg05img.zip file from the root.
Put it back in and boot up.

Pull the battery... put it back in after a minutes... then boot up in hboot (hold down the volume down button, then hold down the power button)... couple seconds later hboot... then go into recovery and either load a backup or load a new ROM.

Yeap I can get into bootloader hboot and get to recovery from there. I don't have the pg05img file on my sd card, I delete it after I install it. It won't reboot if I sit in bootloader but once I leave it for recovery it just keeps rebooting until I pull the battery and restart using power + volume down.

problem is I can't even get to any of my backups or do anything in recovery because once I'm in it reboots after a few seconds.

Just found this thread at xda, Steps to Recover from Bootloop - xda-developers I'm going to give it a shot.

These are the instructions:

Before You Begin:
1. Perform the steps below at your own risk! ('Nuff Said)
2. Make sure you have a USB micro SD Memory Card Reader (~$6)
3. Charge your phone's battery as best you can, or use a spare battery
4. Download Rom of choice to your computer
5. Do some research into removing the micro SD Card as needed
6. Don't Panic! (I Love to Say That!)

Here We Go:
A. Remove battery from phone
B. Remove SD Card
C. Insert SD Card into USB micro SD Card Reader
D. Plug micro SD Card Reader into USB port on computer
E. When prompted, select option to view folder contents
F. Rename Rom PG05IMG (Keep .zip extension - PG05IMG.zip)
G. Copy PG05IMG.zip onto root of SD Card
H. Eject micro SD Card Reader from computer
I. Install SD Card in phone and then install battery
J. Press and hold Volume Down & Power buttons until phone boots into recovery
K. PG05IMG.zip should be automatically recognized by recovery
L. When prompted, press (Not Hold) Volume Up button to start update
M. Wait for flash to complete (Be patient, get an ice cold Root Beer!)
N. When prompted, press (Not Hold) Power button to initiate reboot
O. Wait for phone to boot (Be patient, get another ice cold Root Beer!)
P. If all goes well your phone will live to fight another day!

Personally, I reset my phone after following this process. I then perform a wipe and flash the Rom a second time before setting up my phone. Some will say this is overkill though.

I always have copies of ROM's and different Radio's on my SD card... the Radio I keep renamed on the Root... and ROMS under a ROM folder... at least a couple of each... plus I have a USB adapter that came with another SD card, which is nice to have around.

I also have a ROM folder with all of the roms I flash, but I always just delete the radio file since I keep it on my computer.

I just tried the above process and it didn't work. It fills up the blue bar on the upper right hand corner and then goes to the next screen that says pg05img...Parsing. After that it just goes back to the normal hboot screen.

I'm going to see if flashing the mr2 radio helps.

Those instructions above are that I would have said, but with a full RUU, not a Rom. Problem is that i can't find what I think you should try.

Well I followed those directions and the only thing that flashed successfully was the mr2 radio. Remind me again what the RUU is?

Is the whole package. Radio and all i think. It's how an update from Verizon would push. That's my idea anyway. Jcase had one for people who were getting bootloop from gingerbread... cavity find the thread. Ill try to find it

Just get back to hboot... select Recovery, wipe data, cache and also under advanced Dalvik cache... then go back to load a Zip file, find your ROM and load it.

Thanks SoDev, I'll also do some more searching. fatboy97, I would definitely do that but once I get into recovery the phone instantly reboots again. It doesn't give me a chance to wipe/format anything.

You need to rename the PG05IMG.zip file to something else... otherwise it will keep rebooting when it gets into hboot.

****EDIT: That is why they Always recommend you rename the file after you load a Radio.

Found a MR1 pg05img file on my computer which I think is an ruu, it's over 300mb. I just flashed it in hboot and it installed correctly, but it is still stuck in a loop. It did revert my boot animation to stock so that's good, but other than that it didn't help.

I'm also downloading the mr1 file from the link you posted SoDev, but my internet is super slow for some reason so its gonna take an hour.

Is there any way to get my phone back to a non-root state or even a semi non-root state so I can take it to verizon and get a refurb? I'm guessing they wont give me anything if I return my phone with S-OFF.

The trick you're doing would be how with a uprooted ruu I'm guessing. Dunno though. Maybe do some searches over at xda.

So I ended up taking my phone in to verizon as it was, bootlooping and with s-off. They didn't know what was going on and couldn't fix it. So they gave me a loaner Droid Eris (pos by the way) for the weekend and I just got my CLRN today. I was kinda scared to get the replacement since i've read a lot of stories about how crappy they are, but this one actually seems to be pretty nice. Everything is working fine so far. Now I just need to root it again! :) Thanks for the help everyone!

Yeah not sure anyone is going to be proud of you for doing that. Sounds to me like your better off not rooting.

Wasn't asking for support, just wanted to update on what happened. I did nothing extraordinary to cause my bolt to brick. It happened randomly just like it did to a bunch of other rooted bolt users. I have had it rooted since I bought it a week after release day without any sort of hiccups. Sure I had the choice not to root it, but then again if HTC didn't want me to root they wouldn't be unlocking their bootloaders now would they? To each their own.

And sorry for the foul language in my last post. Didn't mean to offend anyone.
