[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction]How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Can anyone recommend a reputable place to buy a Verizon 4G nano sim card? I can't use the sim card from one of my existing phones with UDP (old phone) and my Verizon store won't give me one.
Try calling tech support and see if they will mail you one. Tell them you want to purchase a used phone but the owner won't sell it to you with the SIM card in it and you would like them to mail you a SIM card for your soon to be purchased used phone.

Re: [Instruction]How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

So....where I'd a good place to but a new, retail, unused nano sim?
If the corporate stores won't give you one, which btw, none of them will without a phone to put it in and tech support won't mail you one, you can try the franchised Verizon stores, but they can charge $25 for them and they may not sell you one without a phone to put it in, either.

Your other option is to buy a used 4G LTE phone with the same size SIM card as the one you want to buy, take it to Verizon and get the SIM card and activate it on your line. Then you will have an active SIM card that is the right size when your subsidized phone arrives. Then you can turn around and sell the used phone without the SIM card (you should never sell a phone that has been activated on your account with the SIM card in it anyhow).

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Just an update, went to a verizon store today and got a new SIM card. Everything is working great and there were no changes to my data plan! I even got a confirmation email afterwards showing unlimited data.

Alright guys, I am loving this thread. But we are just nervous about trying it or when the bill comes. So so far no one has lost your UDP even after your first billing cycle?

no, people have lost it when they have done it wrong. You have to do it right for it to work. And don't involve Verizon. That is another way to lose your UDP.

think i get what to do, order from bb online, ship to home, insert MY sim card, then boot up the phone.
correct?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

And now i sleep. just still nervous about it. But i'm sure you all were when you tried it, who doesn't love UDP?

Re: [Instruction]How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

OK, well it does happen sometimes. If it doesn't bother you, leave it be. But if you need to activate or switch a device, then Verizon will have to clear it for you if it doesn't clear on its own.

I am inclined to agree with you.... leave it alone for now. Hopefully I don't have any surprises down the road with my UDP. I definitely would like to hear from others who have done the alternate switch who have checked their UDP line's after using the Activate/Switch feature on MyVerizon.... do you still see a pending order? if so.... how long ago did you order and switch your phones?

Ordered it Feb 8, still have UDP

If you read back on this thread, you can read posts of others this has happened to. It has happened to several people.

I think that even if BB or Big Red figures this out they cannot change our plan since we did nothing wrong, since we were being allowed to keep existing plan. Once you order your phone you are looked in for 2 additional years of UDP.

Order from BB online and select keep current plan and take screen shots of the whole process. Do not pick a new plan.

Then when the phone comes to your home, DO NOT TURN IT ON. Remove the SIM card first without turning the phone on.

Then put your old SIM card in your new phone and turn it on.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Just went to BB to look at getting Moto X and got the following message on screen.

"DO YOU HAVE AN EXISTING UNLIMITED DATA PLAN?
Here's what you need to know:
With Verizon's new Share Everything plan, unlimited data is no longer available. When you upgrade your device, you will not have unlimited data.
If keeping unlimited data is important to you, you can choose "Replace my device" and pay full retail price for a new device."

So this approach did not work for me.

It always shows this. @Dodger70 just told me his second order was changed to 2gb.

I found this post http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...ep-unlimited-data-verizon-94.html#post3413647 and followed the thread but unfortunately the original poster babycakes2485 never reported back what happened. I will keep digging.
well I already told you what has happened to others. Some say it eventually dropped off after a few weeks. Others called Verizon and had it removed. Hence my advice. Just sit tight at least until the 14 days has past and even better through a full billing cycle and as long as your UDP is still there, if the problem persists call Verizon and have the pending activation removed.

Hate to hear that, was getting ready to order either LG G2 or HTC one.
