[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Anybody have any input on this?
Yes just put your sim into the phone. Do you have insurance your line right now? If you do it is covered. If you don't you could try and call to add it, but that might mess up your data. Third party insurance?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Yes you can. You just need to do what I posted and was has been written about in this post.

You transfer the upgrade from unlimited line to the tiered line. When you do this only do it online. Don not go to the store or call on the phone.

First use any upgrade available on the tiered line. Once that is used, you can transfer the upgrade from the line 1 to line 2.

Verizon may eventually close this loophole. From what I read it still works. I used it 1 year, iPhone 5s, and will use it for the note 4.

Sorry for the extra post: I didn't think the first one was sent...

Thanks: In Sept. provided the loophole is still allowed, my plan will be as follows. Please advise if something is not correct or should be done differently.

1. With both lines available for upgrade, go ahead and upgrade line 2 to the new phone, Note 4. Do you recommend doing this online with Verizon, or an in store purchase to activate the phone?
2. Once the upgrade is done on line 2, go online and switch the new phone(Note 4) to line 1( no exchange of SIM cards and no loss of UDP). I assume at that point you can also reactivate the old line 2 phone back onto line 2 . (upgrade should still be available on LIne 1)
3. When ready to purchase a subsidized phone for line 2, go online transfer the upgrade from Line 1 to Line 2( w/o loss of UDP). Again, purchase this phone through Verizon online? Or, go in store?

I have Asurion on the Razr Maxx that is on the UDP line that the S5 is going to. So when I plug the sim card in and fire up the S5 my insurance will just transfer over? I went to Asurions website to get info about adding coverage on the S5 and it just linked me to Verizons site to insure it. I knew right away that would be trouble because it wanted to know the phone number it was on...

The insurance covers whatever phone is on that line. I used alternate upgrade and swapped my Note 3 to my line. I had make an insurance claim and got a replacement Note 3 without a problem.

When upgrading a line that is not unlimited you can do it in store or online. It does not matter. You can just swap the sim cards or have them switch them in the store for you. This will not effect your unlimited data. Just READ everything before you sign.

When transferring the upgrade from unlimited, do this online. Do not talk to anyone.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

No issues with moving the SIM from line 1 5s (still under 2 year contract until Jan 2015) as long as the SIM remains active?
No problem. I swap phones frequently. As long as you pay your bill, Verizon does not care what phone you are using.

Great thanks for the help, Mr. Toad. I will follow your suggestion and post how it went.

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

Is it normal that my order (ordered on Friday) hasn't shipped yet? But the money is taken out already. Estimated arrival is between July 31 and august 12. Or am I over worrying?

The Visa/MC requirement for e-commerce businesses is to ship a customer's purchase within 3 business days of when they charge the card.
Best practices in the industry is to only charge the card on the day they ship it.
So Best Buy is technically OK if they ship your purchase by end of business on Wednesday.

BTW I ordered my phone from BB on late Friday evening...they charged my card immediately online...and the purchase shipped Monday evening.

Hope that helps

I bought a Galaxy Note 3 during the 48hrs that BestBuy was selling it for only $99.
On Sunday the price went up to $199. Looks like I picked a great time to check their website.

Did you get the G3?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I haven't been able to find anyone on here with a similar setup.
here's my dilemma:

I have 3 phone lines

Line 1 with UDP is due for an upgrade
Line 2 with UDP is not due until 2015
Line 3 (dumb phone) is not due until 2015

I currently have a Galaxy S3 on Line 1 and wanted to upgrade to the LG G3 without losing my UDP. What is my best option at this point?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In this entire thread you couldn't find anyone with your setup? even half the thread or less?

Transfer upgrade from line 1 to 3. Done.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Once I transfer the upgrade, I purchase the new phone via the verizon website and swap the sim cards?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Are you upgrading from a 3g to 4g on one?

If so DON'T USE THE NEW SIM!!! ORDER A NEW SIM FROM VERIZON OR IF YOU CAN FIND A CHEAP/FRIENDS PHONE AND GET A SIM FROM VERIZON STORE (PREFERABLY SAME SIZE AS YOU NEW PHONE) and than order the phone.

Than just follow the same steps as other(take the activated sim and put it into the new phone and enjoy)

What I did...

Line 1 has unlimited data, lg g3

Line 2 has 2gb data, iPhone 4s

I transferred line 1 upgrade to line 2, got a s4. It's the mail now.

So what your saying is don't use the SIM card that came with phone. Why is that?

I have several phones on my account that have same card, should I just activate it on another line first, not one of the unlimited lines..or should I just tell Verizon lost the card and need a new one. I would rather not talk to Verizon if I don't have to.

What line are you using the s4 on? If it is staying on line 2 just activate and you should be good to go. When people say to throw away the sim card it is because they are using the best buy method.

That said I already had 4g phones and just discarded the sim that cane with the phone.

You log into Verizon order phone on the dumb line. You transfer the upgrade when ordering. You get the Phone and activate it. You can then swap it to your unlimited line. You will either have to get a new sim card on that line or cut the sim down to nano size. You can then drop the data from the dumb-phone line.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Ordered the new SIM card from Verizon and immediatly after placed an order for LG G2 from bb. Purchased a cheap phone to activate the new SIM from Verizon via online(it was piece of cake). I got screen shot(will post and show if someone needs them). Received the phone today and popped the new sim from Verizon from the cheap phone (I feel so bad for that phone, I used it as a stepping stone for lg g2) into the LG G2 and it worked like a charm. Mom is happy and life is good. Unlimited still intact and LG G2 is showing up on myverizon so far all good. If I could be a help to someone please ask I would be more than happy to help. I got screen shots to the online sim activation if someone needs them.

Ok, got you. Yes the s4 is going to stay on line 2. I did it thru the Verizon website.

The other person was making it sound like going from a 3g phone such as the iPhone 4s, to a 4g phone such as the s4 made a difference in how you did it

Again thanks
