​I want to get the S7 Edge on L1 using the upgrade from L3 without losing my UDP. I prefer to go through Best Buy, but will go with whichever route is the simplest.

What are my options?

On the nationwide plan (a few generations old), then the line access is $10 for that tier regardless... It won't go up.

What do the Yes / No Stand for? Available Upgrades?

My account is like this:

L1 UDP 4G LTE - upgrade available
L2 Basic Dumbphone - upgrade available
L3 TDP 4G LTE - upgrade available

Can I just buy a phone on the TDP, then activate it, then activate it again on my UDP account?
Can I then transfer my UDP upgrade to the TDP and get another phone?
Please help!

I upgraded on bestbuy.com and was able to keep my unlimited data plan from Verizon. I just got my s7. Verified with a verizon rep. Spread the word.

I have a fairly standard setup (upgraded using the "standard" tricks twice over the years, using the dumb phone):
L1 UDP 4G LTE (Galaxy S4) - upgrade available
L2 UDP 4G LTE (Galaxy S4) - upgrade available
L3 Basic Dumbphone - upgrade available
Out of contract (last did the upgrade dance by transferring upgrades and ordering online IIRC) 2 1/2 years ago; had to go to a verizon store to swap out SIMs (old phone had the older SIM design). Paying the $50 data charges (of course); $10/line on the family plan, 700 shared minutes.

I'd like to update both UDPs to S7's. What are my best options and what's the best (and reliable) sequence to use?

We're month-to-month; we've been out of contract since circa last July.

2 is impossible.

1&3,upgrade the tdp line to the s7 on contract, activate it on tdp line first then activate it on the UDP line

Actually, 2 is possible. Upgrade your phone online from Best Buy, including signing up for a contract renewal. Have it delivered to your home, take out the sim and destroy it. Sell the phone on eBay or Swappa. The contract is extended for 2 years, avoiding the $20, and the subsidized phone is sold for a profit. Then use the upgrade on the TDP the way you outlined.

I'm curious because of this line in the notice re: the increase.

To me, I read this as if you enter a new contract (renew), you'll get hit with the $20. But that doesn't make sense since you won't be month-to-month.

I understand how you are reading it, but I avoided the increase coming off of month to month and getting on a contract literally the day before the new terms went into effect. Other people have successfully avoided the increase by extending an existing contract the was going to run out using the Best Buy Method, but selling our trading the new phone.

Of course ,this stuff is all subject to change by Verizon at any time.

I did the new BBM and got an Iphone 6s plus 128gb for $299 and as soon as it was delivered I never turned it on or anything I just destroyed the sim card, then sold it for $850 on swappa. Extended my contract and hopefully avoided the $20 increase for a good while. Now when the Note 6 or some other awesome phone comes out ill just pay full retail. So far everything is good just have a pending activation on the line but ive read that it will just fall off in a month or two.. Ill keep you all posted.

Yeah I'm currently set up like this:

Nationwide Talk Share 700, no Edge, no DPP
L1 UDP, On-Contract (10/2016), Upgrade Available, Moto X Pure Edition
L2 TDP, On-Contract (03/2017), No Upgrade Available, iPhone 6

I'll probably upgrade my wife to the next non-small iPhone in the fall using my upgrade (I'm never putting that iPhone on my line). Then use her upgrade in 2017 to maybe get something to re-sell.

Just want to be sure I understand this:

Line 1 iphone 5s UDP under contract upgrade=yes
Line 2 HTC one UDP no contract upgrade=yes
Line 3 Basic phone no contract upgrade=yes

Line 2 wants new s7. Upgrade Line 1 through line 3 to keep $20 off bill. Activate s7 on line 2 with old sim card.

So question. will I ever be able to upgrade again; say when the new iphone comes out? And will I still keep my UDP on all lines?

I would recommend doing the Best Buy Method and Sell your Phone. That should extend your contract and youll avoid $20 fee and you'll be able to put the money you get from the sale towards the new S7. But beware you might still get the $20 increase and be stuck with a 2 year contract with a $50 data fee or worse loose your udp. your results may vary.

Is there any rationale for whether or not I will get hit with the $20 fee if I go this route? Based on the description, it seems somewhat arbitrary.
