Glad it worked out for you champ!!!

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

What happens if I have UDP and a couple of months to go before my line is eligible for an upgrade...if I purchase a device from BestBuy for the subsidized price?

Can I complete the purchase of the device for that special price??

Yes but you can't use it on your account. You also can't get a new contract unless you're eligible. So if you're not, you're out of luck.

My UDP acct has no upgrade until July and my contract end date is the same date.

Hopefully I am wrong-
1) does this mean I cannot buy a subsidized phone EARLY at BB (to later sell on Swappa) ?

2) if I buy early a subsidized phone does that start a new line charge on the acct right away?

My goals are to remain under contract AND keep my UDP

I

No, you're in a contract. You must wait until it's up or you're eligible.

How can you buy at a subsidized price if you are not eligible for a upgrade?

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

It depends....I have been aware of Verizon letting select customers upgrade early in certain instances, but it's rare and doesn't happen often...even if you get it @ Best Buy, if you use the same sim in the new subsidized phone, that could spell disaster for your UDP...but I'm not the expert on doing the best buy method....I just get all my phones thru craigslist/swappa/eBay for cheap so I don't have to deal with the retail side of things and I keep it truckin lol

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Okay, I can't resist the S7 Edge anymore--my S6 edge is just awful. Here is what I have right now:
L1: S6 Edge UDP Not eligible for upgrade
L2: M8 UDP Eligible for upgrade
L3: G3 TDP Not eligible for upgrade
L4: Basic phone

Goal: Use L2's upgrade on L3 to get an S7 Edge on L1.

Method/Question 1: Would it still be possible/prudent to transfer the upgrade from L1 to L3 on Verizon's site, and then order the phone straight through Verizon (or Best Buy) for L3, then activate it on L3 for a few hours, before transferring the S7 Edge to L1's SIM card? (I think this is how I got the S6 Edge)

Method/Question 2: Should I order the S7 Edge on BB's site as an L2 upgrade, and then just use the SIM from L1 to activate the phone? I've heard that this method has become riskier as of late (that's how I got the M8)

Or, I'm completely open to any other idea. I'm not crazy about doing private sales, however.

TIA!

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I recently did the bbm, I swapped sims for 2 UDP lines and it worked with no issues. One of the phones is having issues with the earpiece making crackling noises (especially when trying to make phones call). I'm within the 14 day return policy. Will I have problems with exchanging it at the store and keeping the UDP?

Just call the manufacturer. They should send you a replacement, then you won't have to worry about an exchange.

Bump! Anybody have any ideas??

Bump! Anybody have any ideas??

First of all you said you want to transfer line 1 upgrade to line 3, but from what you posted line 1 doesn't have an upgrade. So?

This is what I would do. Transfer upgrade from line 2 to line 3 (using Verizon online) buy the phone you want and have it mailed to you or even pick it up in store.

Activate the phone on line 3, maybe sure everything works. Line 2 should end up with a new two year contract still be UDP.

Go online and put old phone from line 3 back on it. This will free up the be phone, you can now put it on line 1 and should not have a problem. You can never put that phone on line 2! If you do you will lose UDP on line 2.

Thank you! I mistyped--i meant to say i would use the upgrade from L2, so it sounds like the situation you laid out. Thank you very much for the response!

Even more crazy idea...I just left Verizon, and they said I can use the basic phone's eligible upgrade, L4, on the smartphone line? Has anybody done this?? It looks like the website will let me do it...

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Yes I did that last year....took the upgrade from my LG gusto and used it for my iPhone

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I want to get rid of my S5 on L1 and get an S7. Can this still be done?

L1: S5, UDP, no upgrade
L2: S6, TDP, no upgrade
L3: S6, TDP, no upgrade
L4: Turbo, UDP, upgrade available
L5: Turbo, TDP, no upgrade

So from what I am gathering I can transfer the upgrade from L4 to L2. Upgrade the phone to S7. Activate S7 on L2. Wait a few hours. Activate S6 back on L2. Then activate S7 on L1 and live happily ever after with UDP? Do I need to destroy the SIM card that comes with the new S7 before activating it on L2?

Then in a few months when L1 upgrade becomes available can I do the same thing with L4? Just as long as the new upgraded phone on the UDP line that the upgrade came from?

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Is this deal still working like it did 2 years ago when I got my last phone? Anything different?

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Still the same ....

Now I just have to figure out what to get. I have the LG G2 currently and I've been thinking about the LG G5. I like the replaceable battery. Any other phones have that?

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hi, first off want to just thank everyone for all the help/advice they've posted on here. My eyes are crossed trying to read through all the pages. I think I have it figured out but just want to run it by you all to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Family 700 plan:

L1: note 3, UDP, upgrade available
L2: iphone 6s,UDP, no upgrade
L3: basic flip phone, no upgrade

I want to use upgrade on L1 and get s7 from best buy. Then remove Sim on s7 and sell on craigslist. Use money from sale and buy s7 at retail allowing me to keep my L1 UDP and avoid the $20 increase for UDP on L1.

Hope I'm not missing anything.

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

The G5 is a good phone, but if cost is a factor for you and you don't mind rocking an older model phone, the LG G4 is still a solid decision in my opinion for those opting for a removal battery. (and it's very cheap these days too!)By the way, are you doing a device payment plan or paying for a phone outright or thru a 3rd party ? Just curious...
