So will this idea work? My phone is UDP and up for an upgrade. My friends is on TDP on a totally different account. If I upgrade before 11/1 which is my contract end date, and he upgrade his line from his account we can swap phones destroy sim car and insert our own and all will be fine? I won't go up to $49.99 either correct? And I'll keep UDP?

No. Doing so would lose UDP. You would need to sell the phone, or otherwise never put it on line 2 to keep udp

You can transfer and use the new phone on line 1 or 3. That will put line 2 under a new two year contract.

Later when line 1 or 3 does have an upgrade you can use the phone upgrade from one of those lines on line 2.

If you are paying the extra $20 already for a total of $49.99 a month for your UDP it has been reported on here you can just upgrade that line and keep the UDP.

Udp would remain if you transferred the upgrade from line two to line one or three,just never put the phone in line two

It has been reported in this thread that if you are paying the extra $20 you can get a subsidized phone and keep your UDP. I don't remember their member names but have seen at least two report they have done this. I myself have not.

I'm not sure how this would work, I tried to check it online today and it forced me to change the data plan.

I would definitely be curious in finding out though. 2 lines on my family plan have Tiered data and are eligible for upgrades soon. Since they don't need upgrades, I was thinking of trying to upgrade and sell the phones online, and use the money to buy a Pixel phone.

If I just get the upgraded phone in the mail, I should be able to sell it right away without activating it and not have an issue right?

I'm guessing you transferred your upgrade to another Line, signed up for a new TDP to get the subsidized rate and then used the phone with the new data plan? The benefit being you kept UDP on Line 2, but you can only use it with the old phone on that line?

No the $20 does not come off it has nothing to do with edge plan.. I was grandfathered on an UDP and out of contract with UDP cost of $29.99. Last year VZW raised the price of UDP $20 to $49.99 for us who were out of contract and wanted to keep UDP. The extra $20/month had nothing to do with getting a new device or edge plan it was an increase cost for UDP for those of us out of contract. It was a price increase for us out of contract that wanted to keep UDP. If we wanted a new phone we would have to still pay full retail no subsidies.

Fast forward to present. VZW now allows us on the $49.99 plan to get a subsidized phone and get back on contract for 2 yrs. No hacks needed. NO BB method needed. No destroying of sim card. I bought from VZW Online. I was glad to get back under contract so I could keep my UDP. BTW my $49.99 plan is actually costing me $29.99 because I get the Talk & Text Plus Data $20 Discount every month and prior to going off contract it was $29.99 less Talk & Text Plus Data $20 Discount costing me $9.99. Also, every month I also get a 25% Access Discount & get a 20% feature discount too....

Just got a new subsidized Note 7 on Line #1. No switching of upgrades. No Hacks. No Best Buy Method. No destruction if sim card. Just bought from VZW Online. Kept UDP. Kept Talk & Text Plus Data $20 Discount every month. Kept 25% Access Discount & get a 20% feature discount too....

BTW 'bout to get my daughter a subsidized mePhone 7 Plus and it shows I'll be able to keep the "MAX DATA 6gigs @ $29.99..

I'm in the same boat, the only options I see available to do an upgrade on a UDP line are to do the payment plan or pay for it outright.
