OK guys after reading through this thread, I want to confirm my situation and gameplan before I take the risk. Here is our account:
Line 1: UDP, upgrade eligible
Line 2: Dumbphone, upgrade eligible
Line 3: Dumnphone, not yet eligible
Line 4: UDP, not yet eligible

I want to get an M8 for Line 4. It looks like there are a couple options but I'd love to get the best bang for my buck without adding any costs to the monthly bill. What is the best way to do this?

So worst case I will have to call verizon then?

I actually canceled my order since I can't get the VERIZON40 promo code to work on BOGO like others have been able to. (no place to enter it on their preorder site) and the deal is not going through correctly on the retail site (forces you into verizon edge).

Yes, wait until after preorder period.

But won't the buy one get one free be over then? I thought pre-order for the S5 was over... I just want the same deal everyone else got, 2 phones for $140 + taxes and fees ($205 in taxes and fees for me ouch!). I'm still not sure how I would transfer the M8 to my UDP line since it uses a different (smaller) sim card....

I check the site and the S5 is no longer pre-order so I would think you could order it now. I just remember when there was some deal going on back when I pre-ordered my Note 3 since it was preorder I couldn't use the promo code. Since S5 is no longer pre-order I would think you could now enter the code.

Still an error code 53 at checkout. At a loss on it. I have been assured by both BB and VZW reps that this code reflects an issue with payments or billing, yet they can't tell me how to fix it. Extremely frustrated with this. The only thing I can see that may be different than others on here is that I have an existing contract but I am upgrade eligible. Not sure if that is a factor or not. I had the line suspended while I was in Afghanistan, so the upgrade is there, but contract was extended until December of this year. Think that is the problem by chance?

hey im sure this has been addressed before but iv been burned by Verizon so want to get it right. Here's my situation
I had 1 unlimited line with upgrade
broke my maxx hd screen too expensive to fix so went to vz store and they said full price or open new line and get discounted price so I do. Now I have
1 unlimited with upgrade
1 basic
1 basic
want to get new phone and use BOGO if possible and sell one phone. However want everything to stay same as listed above no new charges. Any help will be appreciated thanks

If i transfer through Best Buy's upgrade eligibility transfer from one UDP line to another UDP line, is there a chance I'll lose my UDP on one of the lines? I wouldn't think it would be an issue... Has anybody successfully done this?

Upgrade one line, when you receive the phone use it on the other line with your current sim card that is in your phone right now. It's that simple. It really is. I had no issues at all. Make sure your final statement on BB website says keep existing plan; keep existing data plan, confirm purchase, print it and keep it.

This is my problem as well. I called VZW this morning to ask if I could transfer my upgrade and maintain my unlimited data. He claims there is no way to upgrade without being forced into a Share Everything Plan. He also said to go to a corporate store and upgrade, because the store manager can over ride the computer. I don't think I trust this option.

I haven't done it it a while and I'm maxed out at 5 lines. I've seen posts say people have been able to, others say they couldn't. Maybe it depends on the existing plan. You could try to go through the process part way online and see if it will allow it without actually finalizing it to see if it will allow you with your plan. Some posts I've read said the rep in the Verizon store said they couldn't. I'm suspicious that the reps in the store get a commission for every unlimited data plan they change and may be making things up to get you to lose your unlimited.

I chatted with a rep this morning and you can do it through the iconic portal.

I have a super old phone that has served me well but now it is time for an update and I would like to get either the Samsung s4 or s5.

I've gone to the BB website and this method will probably work for me, however, I have one problem. As mentioned my phone is a dinosaur - Droid X and it doesn't use a sim so there is no old sim card to insert into the new phone. What do I do to make this deal work for me and keep my UDP?

Find someone with an unused 4g phone (or buy a cheap one from swappa), go to Verizon store, ask them for a SIM card, have them activate the phone for you, then use the best buy method to upgrade your line...the s4 and s5 use a micro SIM so for convenience sake, make sure you get an old phone that uses a micro SIM

A Verizon Galaxy Nexus would be a safe bet. Uses the same SIM as the S5.

I just upgraded from the Verizon GNEX to the S5 and it worked fine.

Find someone with an unused 4g phone (or buy a cheap one from swappa), go to Verizon store, ask them for a SIM card, have them activate the phone for you, then use the best buy method to upgrade your line...the s4 and s5 use a micro SIM so for convenience sake, make sure you get an old phone that uses a micro SIM

Guys I'm happy to report that I've recieved my Galaxy s5 yesterday and swapped my sim card and everything is working fine . My Verizon reflects galaxy s5 as my phone and it states that my contract has extended to 2016 with unlimited data . So far so good!!!

I was receiving it too even though I was not late on any bills. I had a future bill payment that I had to make in late April. I just made a one-time payment to get my account back to $0 and the error code went away. So ensure that you have a $0 balance on your account and you should be good to go.

I don't know from experience, but I'm pretty sure that this is false. Likely some combination of typically poorly trained and ignorant reps along with ingrained scare tactics.
