How long did it take everyone to get an email from best buy that there was a problem? Is it instant? I placed the order about 3 hours ago and I haven't received this problem email yet

On my first try i got the problem email after about an hour, on my second try that worked i didn't get an email for about 24hr and that was the one saying that it shipped.

Thanks for the response. What if I transfer her upgrade to another line (we have 5 lines and she is the only one with an upgrade). Will she have her contract extended or will the line I switched her upgrae to be extended? thanks

If you use her upgrade her contact date will be extended

I used the standard shipping. I ordered last Friday, they shipped Monday and the device is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

Sorry to keep being such a pain and asking so many questions, I just really dont want to loose unlimited. So what is this problem email everyone keeps talking about? Why would I get one? Is there any way to avoid the problem in the first place?

I bought one thru amazon 2 weeks ago for the wife's line, and clicked the option "keep My existing plan". Even though im on UDP it still showed 2gb on the amazon page with "keep my existing plan" selected. Went thru with it anyway- I hate Best Buy with a passion and dont want to give them any money. Took the old sim out of a Galaxy Nexus, and put in the new S5. Took the new sim and put it away. Turned it on, signed into google and resynced. Back up and running with UDP intact.

Well 2 weeks later I still have UDP, and my upgrade date is now 6/2016. So it seems working still for me. My other line is due for upgrade on 7/1 and i'm gonna do the same for that one too. Nice to squeak out another 2 years UDP. I was planning on losing it anyway so this is just a bonus.

I think its just from info not matching up, just follow the steps and make use you have a billing password set up before you order and you should be fine.

Even if you transfer the upgrade to another line her contract will be extended another 2 years. The extension counts against the line the upgrade originally comes from not where it is used. You'll have to wait the 20 days to use the upgrade on your phone.

Ok im about to do the plunge so i want to make sure i am doing this correctly. My family currently has a nationwide plan i am line 2

Primary Iphone5 Tired 2GB (no upgrade)
Mine Galaxy S3 Unlimited Data (upgrade)

Ordering Galaxy S5
Step 1: Transfer Upgrade to Primary and Order Phone on Verizon website
Step 2: Activate Phone on Primary Line
Step 3: Activate Phone on my Line

Several posts have indicated you can skip Step 2 and just activate it back on your line. If you want to do step 2, then you'd have to put the original iPhone5 back on primary line to free the new phone. Then activate it on your line.

For those wondering if you can do a store pick up, no you cannot. I work in Best Buy Mobile and for contract pickups it's SOP to activate the phone (with the included SIM card) in Beast, our activations program. Beast will automatically change your plan and you WILL lose unlimited data, even if you keep your existing UDP SIM card. Simple put there is absolutely no way for us to keep unlimited data in store. Believe me, I've searched and asked my Verizon rep for a way. I too have unlimited data with Verizon.

That could also be possible too,

I don't think you should have a problem when you transfer an upgrade tho, if you are transferring an upgrade I would wait 24th until you try and buy the new phone from BB, that way VZW systems have a chance to update.

Thanks for the input, I'll try that. Looks like there are some LTE phones with cracked screens for $30ish on eBay. Might keep as a backup.

I placed my order on BB today with standard free shipping and got an email saying it shipped a few hrs ago. Checked the tracking number and it says it will arrive in 2 days (Friday), so I think the standard shipping should be fine for you too.

Do you guys think this tends to work better and more efficiently when you choose expedited shipping? It seems like if choose the standard shipping, which takes almost 2 weeks, that Verizon & best buy have more time to catch what's going on and question it? This makes me really want to choose expedited shipping... hmmmm

I know I had a lot of questions, so I just wanted to provide an update in case anyone finds it helpful:

Placed my order today on BB for the Note 3. I selected keep current plan and chose standard delivery. I did not have a billing password set up, but did not get an email saying there was a problem with my order. A few hours after placing my order, I got an email from BB saying the phone shipped. I just logged into my Verizon an it extended my contract for 2 more years and it says the data is still unlimited. Additionally, the tracking says the phone will arrive in 2 days. I'll be sure to update once I get my phone, but so far, everything has worked as described in the thread. Thanks to all!

OK, so I've read through this thread and I just want to make sure I have everything right before ordering so that I don't lose my UDP:

My situation: one UDP line eligible for upgrade (currently Razr Maxx, want to upgrade to Note 3)

My understanding:
1. Go to BB.com, select the Note 3
2. Select "Keep Current Plan" and add it to the cart.
3. Continue through the BB order process. Question: it gives me the option to pick it up in store, or ship it to my house. Will I have any problems if I pick it up in store (I live near one). Has anyone done this?
4. When I get my new phone, take my SIM card from my old Maxx and put it in my new Note 3, but don't call to activate it.
5. The new Note 3 should automatically activate with the old SIM and I get to keep my UDP

Does this sound right? Also, if anyone can comment on picking up in store, that would be much appreciated.

So your saying ignore that verbiage about being reset to 2g and just purchase the phone and use the old SIM card and it still works? Also is there a was for BB to match Verizon price there have a deal for 149.99 with a 50 rebate vers BB is just 149.99 for the S5

I am moving on Monday and may have screwed this all up when I ordered yesterday. I changed my verizon account, and credit card account to my new address right before placing my order. Then I submitted the order with the new address. I even paid the extra $18 for shipping with the thought that I wouldn't get it for almost 3 weeks with the standard. I haven't received a shipping notice yet and it's been almost 24 hours. However, I really don't want it be delivered on Saturday. I'm just worried that I haven't heard anything yet that there may be a problem. I think I stupidly paid for the expedited shipping when it would be delivered in 2-3 days regardless. I hope that's not the case. I wonder if I call them if they'll refund me somehow after I receive the phone?
