Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price
Here's my situation (I've read through some of the forum but not most so hopefully I don't get rude messages)
2 Lines UDP (mine) - HTC One M7 (Both no contract, both have upgrades available, i bought my M7 full retail price so I have no contract..didn't know about any of these cool methods!)
1 Line TDP (wife) - iPhone 5 (Contract just ended, upgrade available)
1 Line, cheapy flip phone no data line
I plan on upgrading my HTC One M7 and my wife's iPhone 5 to the new iPhone 6/6 Plus but would like specific advice in my particular situation because it is slightly different from the ones in the forum. I have no question on upgrading my wife's phone because she has TDP so she would be getting a subsidized price. My main goal is to extend a 2 year contract on my personal UDP line and pay a subsidized price for the new iPhone.
Here are some questions
1.) Can I transfer an upgrade to my wife's TDP line to buy another phone even though she's using an upgrade already? Will they allow that since she's already going to sign up to buy another iPhone on contract?
2.) From what I'm hearing, if I am somehow able to buy a subsidized price I will have the phone shipped to me. I'll have to cut my microsim to a nano sim by one of those sim kits because I'm going from an HTC One M7 to an iPhone 6/6 Plus. I will NOT power the iPhone 6/6 Plus when I receive it but put the cut SIM into the slot and hope that I maintain my UDP.
3.) For kicks, later on...after my phone is using the cut SIM, can't I request from a flagship store a new SIM card?
- Also, lets say I do ask a manager to give me a new SIM card and I say I want a nano sim but they see I have an HTC One M7 on the UDP line and won't issue me one? Won't it look fishy?
4.) Which method is best for me? Verizon online? BB? Costco? What's the safest and less likely to have issues?
- From what I am reading I hear there might be issues with the Costco one and the safest bets are BB and Verizon online? Maybe amazon?
5.) On Scyzek post #1994 he talks about activate or switching device, if my wife already activated her iPhone 6 on her line using her own upgrade, how do I make a switch without switching data plans (don't want to mess anything up)
FYI, I think my situation is slightly different from chau_mp (post #2002) and from Scyzek (post #1994) (because I believe he/she only did one phone upgrade)
