Just tried the BB method and got the dreaded "problem with order" email. Costco site says keep current plan but underneath it has the 2GB Data Bundle with Personal email selected. Could it be where my plan is an old Altell plan that is causing problems? Suggestions? Thanks

Did the message you mentioned disappear? "It appears you would like to activate your recently purchased device. Please sign in to My Verizon to complete your new device activation."

That message is not displayed on my account page, only if I manually enter the MEID into a separate VZW page you can access by doing a Google search for "check verizonwireless meid". That message is still there.

Honestly, I think its fine, and may be the default behavior of any new phone, be it subsidized or not. I think (I'm not sure) that VZW isn't tracking subsidized phones by MEID, rather by SIM, which is why all of our swap methods work. If they were tagged by MEID, we would lose our UDPs as soon as we connected to cell service, regardless of SIM. At least, that's what I'm hoping

Line 1, UDP (shared 1400 mins w/phone 2)
Line 2, Dumb Phone, Eligible Upgrade

Can I: Add Line 3 (2gb Smart Phone) to get a phone at subsidized price?
Then Transfer the Dumb Phone upgrade to line 3 for a second subsidized phone?

If so, can I then do away with line 2 or am I stuck with it for 2yrs?

Yes you can do that but then line 2 will be on a new contract for 2 years plus have a 2GB data plan you can not take off.

I thought switching upgrades didn't affect the original, donor, line. Only the line their being moved to, donee. At least that's the way several Verizon reps explained it to me.

That's what I thought too, if transferring the upgrade from my dumb phone converts it to a 2gb plan, it wouldn't be worth it to me.

I guess I'm still unsure about the pending activation issue.. Does it matter which of the following paths I choose?

Goal is to maintain UDP on Line 2..

Purchased S5 at subsidized price through Amazon against Line 1's number.
Line 1 is an iPhone 4S and already has TDP.

Do I insert Line 2's sim card (which is currently an S3) and activate possibly causing a pending activation issue? If yes what does it prevent me from doing with Line 1? Will I be able to reactivate the 4S?

Or should I activate Line 1 with the sim that came with the phone (because Line 1 already has TDP), then swap sim cards again, re-activate each again so that Line 1 has the original 4S and line 2 has the S5? Using this route does it matter if the S5 has the old sim or new sim? This should avoid a pending authorization issue correct?

I confirmed with Amazon that swapping phones within a family plan isn't an issue. Their policy only restricts moving devices to new accounts or cancelling lines. Neither of which I'm doing.

The line you use the upgrade from is the line that gets extended, for ex use Line A's upgrade on Line B and Line A's contract is extended by 2 years.

I think I answered that wrong, the contract will be extended on line 2 because you used that upgrade, but since you are not buying a smartphone on that line it should not have the data attached to it. Sorry about that.

I'm not sure we have a good answer to this. I've always assumed that the data requirement works like upgrades: it goes on the donating line. Since people in this thread have been trying to keep unlimited, though, most of them have used the old SIM card from the unlimited line. This avoids the plan changes, including the data requirement, being activated on the account. Until someone tries it and reports back, we don't know for sure...and nobody has, as far as I know.

Yes data goes to the line the transfer came from if it was a basic line used to buy a smart phone. Same with the contract, it goes to the line that the upgrade was transferred from no matter if it was basic or a smart phone.

Line 1 has an upgrade now; line 3 has an upgrade in December.

Is the Best Buy process verified? I couldn't tell from the responses before about the SIM card switch. It seems like I need to know more also, ie. some 14 day return period or something?

I tried searching, but wasn't finding an answer, didn't know if this belonged here or in it's own thread, maybe even another section of the forums..

In everyone's opinion(s), is it possible to pre-order the note 4, do the trade in deal to get the $200-trade in value, and keep unlimited? I don't know if I'll even like it, since I've only used touch wiz in store. But figure if I can get it at $99 (after trade in) I can sell it and buy something else, like the Moto X (maybe be money ahead at that point)

Here is what I have done, I preordered the iphone 6 thru verizon and once I got it activated it on the UDP everthing was fine but had the pending order on the at line for a week after several calls had it removed but it sure has been a pain still got unlimited data which is the whole purpose. I would like to know if doing the BB method will there be a pending order showing on MYVERIZON?

FYI, just completed a direct upgrade on my UDP line via Amazon. Got the G3 on Thursday, threw my Sim from my G2 in it and everything works fine. Shows online as contract extended for two years, still unlimited data. ;-)

I had the pending order before and just waited a week and it fell off by itself. Never had to call or anything. Others have reported it falling off in a few days some said instantly.
