Just activate it on her line. Then online or her old phone back on her line, freeing up the new phone. Then add the new phone to your line. This method does not require you change any SIM cards.

Would this be the same if I transfer my uograde from my udp to my tdp? Do I still activate first on the tdp line with included sim?

Why is everyone recommending going thru Best Buy?
Don't you have to pay sales tax, enven thought you're ordering online?
How much is Shipping? I can't see because the phones are Out of Stock or it says instore only.

I just ordered mine from Amazon; keeping my fingers crossed that this will work.

I just did this except I got my note 4 from the Verizon store and asked them not to activate it. Put in my old sim and I still have my UDP and no data charge on my basic line I used for the upgrade.

2 months after after doing the BestBuy method (swap old SIM for new SIM) to keep my UDP I still have UDP and all is working well

Did you transfer upgrade from UDP to tiered line? That is what I want to do, but am very nervous!

just an update i moved my upgrade from my upd line to my tdp line and pre ordered the note 4 this morning the tdp line now showes a pending activation but the dates havent changed on either yet upd still says month to month.. as of now

Did your dates every change?

The receipts from Best Buy have said keep existing plan. The other vendors says 2gb of data.

Amazon could also potentially charge a second ETF. That is highly unlikely. Ohh and most of us probably pay tax on Amazon.

yes sure did and an update i got the note 4 activated using the sim that came with it on the tdp line then the next morning i tried to go online and swap lines but the tdp line showed a pending activation altho it showed the note 4 active on that line under the main my verizon page then i clicked the change activate device link abouv the phones it showed pending so i couldnt switch the note to the udp line so called verizon asking them to remove the pending activation on the tdp line they said give it an hour well that was fri morning and as of now it still showed pending so sat morning i called verizon again told them that my wife hated the note 4 and wanter her moto x back on the line but i was going to keep the note 4 because my son broke his phone so they switched the moto x back on the tdp line then i pulled the sim out of my phone on the udp line and put it in the note powered it on and bam new note 4 on my udp line still shows unlimited as of an hour or so ago was the last time i looked.

You can use the BB method one they start shipping the N4. I think they may be shipping the black one if I remember correctly.

Do you even see a pending activation on your basic phone line you used to get the upgrade? Usually this eventually falls off after a week but wonder if you saw it at all?

Sorry to delurk, but this thread is enormously helpful and I wanted to get some feedback about returns. I am using the Best Buy method but needed to return a phone ordered from bestbuy.com that was the wrong model for a family member. I never activated the phone, just returned it straight away sealed in box. They processed it today as a straight return, but my upgrade has not returned yet. How long does this normally take? Do they need to do something other than a straight return? If so, is it best to contact Best Buy, Verizon, or neither (and just wait)? Any insight appreciated.

Of you are already planning on activating on the TDP first anyway what does it matter if the store does it or you do? That method doesn't matter of you change the SIM so it doesn't matter.

As far as picking up in a store and then not activating it in the store (Verizon) I have don't that without any problems, also I think yesterday somebody just stayed they did the same thing. Do see why it would be a problem of that's what you want to do
