iPad Mini resolution no match for Nexus 7.

I can't tell you how I know what I know, but much of this is in Isaacson's biography. Giving it a read will help connect a lot of dots.

I've read it (over Christmas Break last year, FWIW) and fail to see how that refutes anything in my longwinded post. But I digress :)

Also, sticking with the "I know what I know" thing is no way to have an argument/debate IMO. You may know what you know, but without offering actual proof or evidence it becomes nothing more than puffery. Which, of course, Jobs loved. So maybe this whole argument is just a massive case of Inception? :p

I understand what he's saying. And it makes sense. Good thing we're not in a court of law and don't need irrefutable evidence. :-)

While I am all for the discusion of the pros and cons of the device with respect to the N7, the fact that their stock price is following the current market trends, and that there is an improved iPad seems to have little bearing here.
Hey, quit raining on our Apple-bashing parade! We'll take any unrelated, trivial angle we can to trash what is certainly an excellent, high quality, easy to use, uninspired, boring, and very expensive (compared to the n7) device from the Dark Side!

I get what he's saying too, it doesn't mean it's (1) fact, or (2) agreeable from my end or perspective--but that's the beauty of a forum, where all opinions are welcome :).

And court standards are overrated :p.

I am neither, I am saying few would notice the difference between 264ppi and 163ppi when held at arms length.

I think those few would be the iSheep.

Thank goodness I'm still young, because my eyes would notice such a differentiation in PPI would at arm's length. Heck, I even noticed the Pentile on the S3 at arm's length when I held it side by side with the HOX. And that's just a 6 ppi difference compared to the 101 between the iPad mini and 4.

Lol, what a pathetic device.

Step 1: 100$ of hardware.
Step 2: Pretending it's better than the N7
Step 3: ??? (Marketing)
Step 4: Profit!

Congrats, Apple, another win.

I've never seen Apple directly attempt to trash a competitor product side by side with their own like they did with the Nexus 7 vs iPad mini. Was the reasoning behind that? This thing will sell regardless of how they position it against Google.

yes it will sell but there's no accounting for people's choices to buy overpriced/underperforming/underspeced Apple products. :)

"It has a better front camera. A decent rear one the N7 completely lacks. Better speakers."

when I want great pics, I whip out my Nikon. When I want great sound, I put on my headphones or listen to my stereo. hell, I even can just enable BT and listen via one of several BT speakers I have. FWIW, the original ipad (didn't own one, but listened to many of them) had inferior sound to the N7. Furthermore, I listen to the N7's speaker a lot and I actually like it--for music. hard to get enough volume for movies via netflix, etc.

I really don't get it. So you've had a Nexus phone and didn't like the quality. Why did you then buy a Nexus tablet? If you're such a stickler for quality built products why didn't you go with Apple? I had my Nexus 7 for a day only and the quality seemed good to me, time will tell how it holds up when I pick up the new one next week.
we have two n7's here and neither one has a build issue. nada. I feel sorry for the folks that have been unhappy with the quality. guess i got lucky this time. :)

Just bought the 3rd-gen iPad as a birthday gift for my mother two weeks ago. But I'm not that peeved about the 4th-gen announcement, and neither is my mom.

As far as the iPad Mini, I might be picking one up for my girlfriend, since she's been eyeing my Nexus 7 since I got it at launch, and iOS and its ecosystem is better suited for her.

best is the one you have with you, right?

there is no app currently for B of A that will deposit checks from Android, so that's a moot point for me. Hopefully B of A will soon release a version that does what their iOS version does--scan/deposit checks. I love not having to go to the bank when I get the odd paper check now and then.

check the features and whats new tab. this got added a few weeks ago.

I just don't see who the market for this is going to be other than people who would have bought a bigger iPad. it's certainly not going to be much temptation for those who wanted something in the 200 dollar range.

Apple thinks this iPad mini will be for schools to replace text books. Apple got their first real success in the past at schools and are going to try to market this to schools programs as their big market.

I just realized that Apple didnt even bother doing a demo of the iPad mini, guess they figured there was no point.
