iPhone 6's are bending when sitting down?

How is it truth? Strongest... no, they bend where others don't. Rigorous tests... which either did not pick that it would bend, or didn't care.

They didn't say strongest phone, but strongest glass.

At this moment, Apple stock is at it's highest price since the 7 to 1 stock split. So, there goes the "unsatisfied investors" theory.

No, it's not. Although it has rebounded from 97.88 up to 100.75 it has not made up what it has lost from earlier this week when it was at 102.70.

This "Bendgate" or "Bendghazi" is humorous but it will likely only affect those that put their huge phones in their front pockets or are just not careful at all (and don't believe in protecting their relatively expensive phones with a case), and for Jimminy's sake, that's not everyone by a long shot. Now, something else may cause it to bend but I don't think all 6+'s will end up bent and if I had one I'm kind of doubtful it would get even remotely bent but perhaps I'm being overly optimistic.

That's why I called it fluff. The glass wasn't the problem, yet they were sure to mention it. The rest too is also fluff, as all phones have precision engineering and go through durability testing. Yet, the 6+ is the only easily bendable phone.

Why is it so hard for some people to admit that Apple screwed up and is now blowing smoke up your ****? As I have said, this is overblown, but that doesn't change the fact that it is an issue.

Yep. But what kind of dummy sits on any expensive smartphone, especially without a case?

Only 9 of more than 10,000,000 people have contacted Apple. I'm guessing that they sat on their phones, and won't admit it. I'm not defending Apple per se, but a major issue would be more than nine people, IMHO.

But people have been complaining it is bending after being in the FRONT pockets. And I have seen two articles where writers pulling out their phones to check have found their phones are indeed bent and they don't know how it happened. One in iMore with an 5S, the other in Wired with the 6+. The iMore writer still couldn't resist putting a postive spin on it, saying it should be obvious that aluminum will bend when stressed. Well, if it's so obvious it can bend under NORMAL use, why would anybody build a phone out of it?

That's not just a complaint I have with Apple, I really don't like the trend towards metal phones by all manufacturers.

I would not admit back pocket either, if I had bent my phone. I guess the best thing is just to wait and see how this all comes out.

You keep repeating arguments that have already been talked about ad nausuem on this forum.

On one thread on an Apple site there are over 20 complaints. Videos have demonstrated how easily it bends compared to other phones. It's a poor design. Period.

If that doesn't bother you, fine, it's not like it's gauranteed to bend, but I think it's pathetic how some people refuse to demand better. I certainly don't give Samsung a pass for the shortcomings of my S5 (mainly Touchwiz).

Precisely. To me, the same kind that don't believe in protecting their phones with cases, etc. at all. I'm not excusing Apple's design flaw but some of it does rest in how YOU PROTECT your phone.

Just to be clear this isn't just from sitting on the phone. Geek.com reporter noticed his warping was from front pocket use (for how many days of use?). iPhone 6s are being bent in people’s pockets (including mine) | Apple | Geek.com
I was worried my metal M7 might show some warping from having it for more than a year in my front jeans pocket everyday with definite pressure from sitting all day and still having it there, so I checked...nope.

I also have to say, over the years I've really enjoyed Apple designs even if I never used one for work or gaming. I am actually sad that it is not as functional. I actually own about 18 vintage Apple computers (among other ground breaking computers as a hobby) as I enjoy the history of the design and what they were trying to do when computers had all the design appeal of your average dishwasher.

I don't see anywhere where it says it is stronger than a glass on an iPhone six

I know this discussion was not about TouchWiz but you did mention it. ...so briefly, for the folks that don't like TouchWiz there's any number of other launchers. After that is there really anything left to complain about? IME, no. No reason to miss out on nice hardware because of a dislike for TouchWiz. Both my S5 and Note 3 are nasty-fast now that they have Nova Prime (which they had almost immediately upon unboxing).

...now, we return to your regularly scheduled Bendgate/Bendghazi....

Well I guess if the video didn't convince you that you would never try that with your iPhone, basically on a hardness scale, Diamond is a 10, Sapphire glass is a 9, and Gorilla Glass III is about 6.8. In addition it is more scratch resistant. See the below link at Cult of Mac when they thought the 6 would have it. But ultimately it was too expensive for Apple, among being heavier. This actually makes me want a Brigadier.

Not to derail it too much farther but Nova is the launcher I use instead of Blinkfeed/Sense on the HTC One and I love it, makes everything faster and better.

I disagree. With the videos going viral, they need to get out in front of it. Silence would not be golden.

Apple has never cared about viral videos before. This should be no different. The last time they had an issue like this was the antenna issues on the 4. That affected every single device.....so should we assume that this is the same?

The fact that they thoroughly test for these types of stresses tells me some things. 1) They knew exactly how much force it would take for the iPhone to bend, and therefor accepted the possibility that they would see this in the real world by people that buy the phones. 2) They obviously tested competitive devices and know where they stand in the competitive landscape. They're not as strong.

Nowhere have I read anything that says they will replace phones that have bent from normal use (in this case, being placed in a pocket and sat down with it there). That's disappointing.

If this truly has only occurred 9 times they wouldn't respond IMO. It would just bring more attention to the problem instead of just letting it blow over, which it will.
