iPhone 6's are bending when sitting down?

Fandroids are really having a good time with this. Less than a half dozen out of over 10,000,000 have an issue (or not), and suddenly it's a widespread problem. The world's best-selling smartphone will always have it's haters, I guess. Maybe if Android makers had a phone that sells 10,000,000 in a weekend they wouldn't have so much jealousy.
Not jealousy, just justice for the practices of relying on brand recognition. I used to compliment their case designs as unique and better than the majority of Android phones including Samsung even if they were made of glass. They just looked much better up until now. I've always thought HTC design was better (IMO) as well as made better since the HTC One S. Now it seems they have tried to get close to the best designed android phones and it is costing them somewhat for not doing it right. A design that is not lost on HTC who posted this pic on Twitter during the unveiling.

I doubt Jobs would have ever approved this design as it was following instead of going their own way.

Re: So you want an iPhone 6

I wanted to get the 6+ but not after thr whole bending thing, I guess I'll just have to settle for the smaller screened 6

This isnt a good time for Apple to have this news circulating, especially with Samsung having problems with their high-end sales.

Just...wow. How could that not come up in testing?

So I guess there is at least one downside to a metal phone? At least when it is large and thin.
Lol and that's why I won't be paying hundreds of pounds for one , I mean c'mon who would.....

Yet even today Android Central is slobbering all over the metal-framed Galaxy Alpha, gushing on and on about how great that metal is. ***** media feeding ***** consumers.

Let's not bash on Apple too hard before seeing what the new metal Samsungs do.

I'm with Citizen Coyote, if this is what it takes for consumers to open their eyes we all win. Well, those of us that didn't buy an iPhone 6 anyway.

The Moto X is the perfect blend of durability and perceived build quality in my opinion. I like the durability of my S5, but I'll admit the plastic chrome is tacky.

It's not the thinness, it's the materials. The Note 3 survived the same Bend test the iPhone 6 failed. The idea that metal is better is a myth...it offers some benefits but also has it's own liabilities.

I don't know what the numbers are but I am certain the note 3 is thicker than the iPhone 6 +. I prefer plastic. I own a GS3, it's all plastic and I prefer over metal.

Re: iPhone 6 Plus Bend Test

You miss my point. I'm saying PERSONAL responsibility. You have a thin, metal phone. What do you think is going to happen? You think the Z3 is going to withstand this test? It is about knowing the device you have. If you want a metal, thin phone you need to understand the limitations. I'll take a MacBook vs a plastic pos windows laptop everyday but that doesn't mean I think it is more durable to drops. It depends on the device.
Yeah but still, if you're paying for such an expensive phone you'd expect to be able to put it in your pocket without it braking.. You shouldn't have to have 'personal responsibility'

Re: iPhone 6 Plus Bend Test

Come on, do you think any of these modern smartphones with their huge screens, and thin form factor can't be snapped in half by anyone with decent arm strength?

(Also, aren't phones like the 6 Plus a little too big for people to be putting in their pants pocket? That's gotta be uncomfortable...)
If you don't put it in your pocket then where??

If my grandma did this to her phone I would not think it's funny. Just sayin.

A portion of Apple's user base might be gullible enough to try this. Mocking their phone platform is one thing, but costing them hundreds of dollars and ruining pictures/emails/whatever is another. They aren't hitler because they bought an iPhone and don't deserve this kind of thing. On this forum it's obviously a joke but on facebook some of them might think it's real.

I've seen the fake ads...they look very authentic.
'Note to self , tell people about the bend test on my Facebook mwauhahahaha'

Agreed, however, maybe Apple should have warned their buyers. The fact is, "thin is in". Maybe the next iPhone will be made of Titanium. That should stop this from occurring. They say that they will honor warranties as long as you did not deliberately bend your phone like the clown in the video.

Um...not all metal phones bend. The HTC M8 survived the bend test intact, and it is all metal too. It's only Apple that can't make durable metal phones apparently.

Let's not bash on Apple too hard before seeing what the new metal Samsungs do.
It is irrelevant what the new metal Samsung's do...we already know Samsung can do what Apple has not. The Note 3 already survived the same bend test, and virtually intact.

The Moto X is the perfect blend of durability and perceived build quality in my opinion. I like the durability of my S5, but I'll admit the plastic chrome is tacky.
The Moto X has survived the bend tests better than any phone so far.

Even if it is...so what? Apple decided to sacrifice durability for the sake of looks. The end result is the same.

The Note 3 is slightly over 1mm thicker...thats not a lot.

Re: So you want an iPhone 6

You can fold it up and put it in your wallet! It's a feature.

Maybe apple designed them to be bent like a boomerang so when the owners try to throw them away, they come back.

Ok, I'll stop now. ;)

But a purposely bendy phone would be super cool (one that of course springs back into place). It would conform to my curvacious rear when I sit down. :D
