iPhone 6's are bending when sitting down?

So size does not matter in where a phone should be carried? One should carry a 6", 7", or 8" device around in the same way they would a 3", 4", or 5"? Again, I know I'm a bit OCD.

I had a Samsung note, HTC Desire and now have a m8. I'd put all those in the same "range" really. When it gets tablet size that's different I'd say.

Just keep in mind that everyone is not the same size. If you're 6'8" and wanna carry a large device in your front pocket it's not really the same as if you're, say, 5'1". ...IMO.

Two extremes! Let's go with averages xD

Can we? What is the average height for a person? The average size? Does the average person prefer to put a smartphone, regardless of size, in their front pocket? Someone somewhere may pretend to have done research on the world's population that would answer those 3 questions, I assure you however, that I have not. I must admit that I couldn't really care less if some else wants to put their phone in their front pocket or their bra. Some people would like to have you believe that the majority of people on Earth want to place their phones in their front pockets. I know that some peope do but some is not the majority and I just don't think OEMs should have to take such a thing into account when designing their handsets, as strange as that might sound.

The size difference between a 5" phone and a 7" tablet is huge. Most people I know keep their phones in their front pockets. And every male I know keeps it in their front pocket. There's really not many places where you could keep it, unless you always have some type of bag/pack with you.

I know a lot of guys that DO NOT keep their phone in their front pocket most of the time, including me. For instance, I typically keep my phones in my back pocket when I feel I need to have it on me, in the Spring/Summer unless I'm very very very loose fitting trousers. I've never forgotten its in my back pocket and sat on it (and I've also never dropped a baby :) ). When cool enough for jacket/coat I prefer it in one those pockets. Front pockets seem like an uncomfortable place to typically keep the phone and there may be lint, dirt, sand, etc. in one of my front pockets. It really can't be anything else but "different strokes for different folks" to me. I'm required to use a blackerry for work (yes, you can feel sorry for me) but that goes into its case that gets clipped onto my belt or clipped onto a front pocket. Therefore, I don't always need to carry my personal phones with me during the day. If I had to have my phone with my all the time I would put it in one of the several belt-clip pouches I own.

It's not too hard to dig up. There are different types of average too, to avoid the issue with 'mean', which can throw up problems!

I'm too lazy to see any value in Googling such things. I do respect that many use their front pockets to carry their phones and if that works well and is comfortable to them, why not. I've just always worried about that having some undesired effect on my phones, as aforementioned, so when this whole Bendgate thing arose I was not a bit surprised. Kevlar. Kevlar I tell you. You can have high style and strength. If Motorola can do it than it should be simple for Apple and quite possible for others. Why not Kevlar? Cost? If it cost more than Al then market the benefits and pass the cost onto consumers. Again, I highly doubt we'll see the iPhone 7/7+ with this Bendgate problem.

I don't believe the front pocket bull shi*. If you have seen the videos of the kids bending then they are applying crazy amounts of pressure, a front pocket can Not do that.

In tight jeans, yeah, it most certainly can. I can fit my Nexus 7 in my front pocket,. But I would not sit down in it like that...it is wedged in there so tight it would definitely break.

It depends on how roomy your pockets are. If the phone is wedged in tightly, it is going to have a lot of pressure on it when you bend your legs to sit.

I just wonder why anyone would do that to a phone and even expect the phone would be okay. Are OEMs really supposed to engineer for such tolerances? That's just beyond crazy to me to abuse your expensive phone like that.

It's only an issue with Phablets. With normal sized phones, they will usually slide to my thigh even in tight pants. For Phablets, they are too big and can't slide that way. So there is a lot more pressure on them.

Even with Apple devices, this issue only seems to be reported on the 6+, not the 6.

Of course, and I wouldn't even put a little S4 Mini in my front pocket for more than a few moments let alone an $700+ Note 4 or iPhone 6. Just too big to be carried like that but I've said that before and I know many disagree.

Just look around at reddit, Mac/Apple forums/blogs etc. Interesting that according to a recent MR poster, apple is not accepting bent phones for replacement.

Yes. Like this.

Apple fan who mocked ‘Bendgate’ finds that his iPhone 6 Plus bent during regular use

Even more ironically, the owner says that his device bent after he repeatedly made fun of people who were “freaking out” over “Bendgate” when the controversy first arose just two short weeks ago. And indeed, if we look back through the user’s past Reddit comments, we can see that he did stick up for Apple once the first Unbox Therapy video popped up and quickly spread like wildfire across the web.

“Wow. You people are worrying and canceling orders already!” he sneered 14 days ago in a thread on whether the iPhone 6 would bend or not. “There’s been like 4 posts on the internet of dubious quality and everybody is acting like this is a epidemic! Relax people!”

He’s definitely not laughing anymore,

Seems the number of bent iphones is beginning to pick up pace....

Here you go.

A few I can see right now...

"I now have a bent iPhone 6"
@bvsed_gandhi

"So Apple tell me it's my fault my iPhone 6 has bent even though it's a recognised problem? Absolutely disgusted"
@mattjeffery11

"Well ****, my iPhone 6 bent"
@Gredy_Fomez

"I think my iPhone is bent"
@NickkyyP

"my iPhone is actually bent wtf"
@rubyr0bert5

They are probably all haters who are lying. It's the only possible explanation.

I have an LG G3 with Spigen slim armor case on it and it slides and rides beautifully in my front pocket. I wear nice fitted jeans too....have to look proper! :) I also have huge quads so perhaps if you have chicken legs, you may have a problem.....lol!

Yes they should test for as many use cases as possible and know the limits of the device. They should also be aware of the most common use cases and put those ahead of the more uncommon use cases.

Carrying a device in your front pocket isn't abuse. Nobody that I know would ever consider it abuse, either. It's just "that's where I put my phone sometimes".

Unless we're getting into extremes I would never question that my phone would be ok in my front pocket, no matter how big it is. I don't wear tight pants, and my pockets aren't small. If my phone doesn't fit all the way in the pocket without sticking out it doesn't go there, ever.

I would say that's just me, but clearly it's not (based on this thread at least).
